Posted by: MusicLover111222333444 from Texas on 05/19/2013I shopped all over to find a stereo system for my father that not only plays cd's, but will also play his massive collection of tapes. This system fits the bill and also has the radio option. When playing tapes, there is a beautiful and concise sound, much nicer than you think you might get from a tape...actually has the same sound quality as a cd. Now for the bad: it is very hard to tune in many radio channels. The weird thing is after playing the radio for about 15 minutes, the stereo automatically cuts itself off....no warning, no reason. If we turn it back on, it just plays for another 15 minutes and cuts off again. I have to say I have never experienced this problem with any product....very strange. After reading some of the comments here, I see that we're not alone. I will try to adjust the antenna as suggested by another reviewer, but I'm not hopeful. Dad doesn't want to return the system.

Great sound system for our store

Excelent sound quality, flimsy CD changer

We considered to buy Sony this time (MHCEC709IP), but when compared actual sound quality side by side, the choice was clear to stick with Sharp. This system has excelent sound quality. Sound is very clean and has impressive dynamic range - you can hear very well both loud sounds and those which are quieter in the background. The X-Bass feature is usefull for some music, but we personally liked it more when we just manually boosted both BASS and TREBLE. CD changer is suspicious as it is flimsy and you can easily break it. You have to get use to the remote too, but it provides all the functions you need. So far we are very happy with the purchase. 4 stars because of the CD changer, otherwise it would be 5 stars.

The many great features remotely controlled required time studying the manual but all the information was there and I am enjoying being able to have 5 CDs ready to play when I am sitting.
