Posted by: lewanna from Drexel Hill, PA on 04/08/2013This is my third Sharp Microwave Convection over a period of 30years. I have used it for something as large as a 10lb Turkey under the convection setting to reheating leftovers on the microwave setting. I use it alot in the Summer so I don't have to turn the gas stove on. This oven is very easy to use and clean also. I wouldn't buy another.

Great space/money saving product

Posted by: estefan from Toms River, NJ on 05/13/2012It is a great money saving convection oven, especially for someone like me who wasn't willing to pay a fortune. I had initially purchased an electric oven from lowes just to find out I had to cut kitchen cabinets and upgrade my circuit breaker in order to use it. These modifications would have cost me around $ 1,500.00 to complete. I had explored my options and I came across the best-buy modern approach to ovens and I must say it saved me hundreds of dollars and time. I had been using the product for baking and cooking for 7 mo. and it did not disappoint me. Just make sure you read the fantastic booklet that comes with it.

Marvelous addition to any kitchen.

Posted by: ellensue from Florida on 01/07/2012This is one of the most utilitarian pieces in my entire home.I have limited counter space--I live in a condo--and this does the work of both the microwave and convection oven and occupies a space just slightly larger than a toaster oven. I use this oven exclusively and have never used my large standard oven. I cook, bake and microwave everything in this oven. The only slight problem I have noticed, is I don't believe the temperatures are as hot as specified. One needs to experiment to find the exact temperature at which they want their food cooked and do not depend on what you have used before.I'm sure anyone would greatly enjoy cooking with this product--Buon Appetito!!

A kitchen essential in our family

Posted by: InternetShopper2011 from Raleigh, NC on 01/20/2011We've had a Sharp microwave/convection in our home continuously since 1984. This is the fourth one. When one dies, a replacement is a priority; and there is no substitute. Having the option of a second oven and a microwave all-in-one makes cooking large dinners so much easier. Baking in the microwave/convection combination mix mode provides quicker, even baking and roasting without heating up a full-size range--especially in the summer. It's a shame that this product doesn't get the advertising and store shelf space it deserves. Thank goodness for on-line purchasing. Highly rated.

A great second oven for a low price & small space
5
Posted by: MikeMN from Minnetonka, mN on 01/07/2011We needed a second oven, and had a somewhat small opening (27"w x 19"h) in the cabinet above our standard oven. Our old combo microwave toaster oven was too small for many baking needs, so we were looking for another combo or a pure convection oven.
The Sharp has been a great addition. We got it just in time for Thanksgiving, and used the mix/roast mode to cook a 16 lb turkey in about half the time (just over 2 hrs). The skin was browned and crispy, and even the breast meat remained moist (without any basting or injections).
The mixed mode baking works well, too. I've tried baking breads, biscuits, cookies, cakes and pies, and all came out fine. When using stoneware pans, the time savings over baking in the larger convection oven, even with the mixed microwave/convection mode, is not substantial. But the Sharp is large enough to accommodate almost all of our baking pans (with the exception of full-size cookie sheets), and is meeting our second oven needs.
The plain microwave mode seems a little weak compared to other microwaves of this size, but it is more powerful than our old microwave/toaster oven combo. The 'sensor cook' mode has not been very valuable for us - it always seems to stop heating too soon.

Same reliable micro-convection as ever
5
Posted by: Jess358 from on 03/17/2010The first time I got this Sharp micro-convection oven was in 1989. I loved it then, but moved from that house and never replaced it with the same one. I just got the new updated one and it's basically still the same machine, but why mess with success? The mix feature is fantastic for cooking chicken in half the time of a conventional oven and it comes out just as brown, crispy, and juicy as a full on conventional oven. As I said, in the "what's not so great" the microwaves don't hit the floor of the oven for something very flat, like a papadum, so that has to be on one of the included racks on a plate to work. I would recommend this highly (and have).

Waste of time and effort
1
Posted by: oldcaptain from Murfreesboro, TN on 03/15/2010I purchased this item thinking it would be a healthy and economical alternative to conventional cooking methods. Due to a lack of availabe counter space, this seemed like a viable option, replacing my current microwave on the counter. Well, I tried it for a weekend and returned it shortly thereafter. As a microwave, it functions normally, although the power seems quite weak for its listed wattage. As a convection oven, I couldn't see a benefit at all, since it took just as long to cook an item as it does in my conventional oven. As a compact oven/broiler, it took longer to preheat than my gas oven, and the cleanup was a major chore. Add to that the incredible heat that's transferred to the cabinet, and it's just not worth the time or effort it takes to use it. The user manual/cookbook is very confusing, and offers very limited options.
