    The Shield: Pilot
As Captain David Aceveda (Benito Martinez) gives a press conference, touting impressive crime statistics and community outreach in Farmington (L.A.) under his watch, Detective Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis) and his Strike Team chase down a drug dealer, and Mackey impolitely exposes the perp's intimately concealed stash. Detectives Dutch Wagenbach (Jay Karnes) and Claudette Wyms (CCH Pounder) discover a murdered woman whose young daughter is nowhere to be found. Captain Aceveda chews out Mackey when the insolent detective registers his fourth excessive force complaint since the captain's appointment. The captain also convinces Detective Terry Crowley (Reed Diamond) to help him uncover dirt on Mackey, including his connection to a local drug dealer. In exchange for helping Aceveda make a federal case, Crowley wants a job with the Justice Department. Looking for the missing girl, Dutch and Claudette interrogate her distraught crackhead father (the late Denis Forest). He eventually admits to murdering his wife and selling his daughter to a pedophile. They then bring in George Sawyer (Brian Boone), and Dutch manages to trick him into confessing that he bought the girl and traded her to another pedophile, Dr. Bernard Grady (Jim Ortlieb). The two detectives have little luck cracking Grady. In desperation, Aceveda has Mackey conduct his own form of interrogation. "Good cop and bad cop have gone home," Mackey tells Grady, "I'm a whole new kind of cop." Dutch is trying to get to know Officer Danny Sofer (Catherine Dent), but is repeatedly interrupted and humiliated by the married Mackey, who has already slept with her. Crowley joins the Strike Team as they execute a daring raid on a big-time dealer. The pilot for The Shield was directed by Clark Johnson, who co-starred with Diamond on Homicide: Life on the Street. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Our Gang
Danny (Catherine Dent) shows up at the hospital, where Aceveda (Benito Martinez) gives everyone the news that Crowley (Reed Diamond) is dead. Acevedo wants to conduct his own investigation, but Assistant Chief Gilroy (John Diehl) tells him to let IAD handle it. Danny offers Mackey (Michael Chiklis) a shoulder to cry on, and lets her rookie partner, Julien (Michael Jace) know that in the wake of a cop killing, they have to let people on the street know who's in charge. Acevedo finds out that his contact told others at the Justice Department that Crowley was helping them investigate Mackey. Acevedo suspects that Mackey was responsible for Crowley's death, and vows to bring him to justice. Shane (Walton Goggins) gets a little shaky at Crowley's funeral, and Mackey warns him to keep his cool. Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Wyms (CCH Pounder) interrogate a young gang member suspected of murdering a street vendor who had stopped paying protection money. Acevedo gets Dutch to help him interrogate Shane, who he recognizes as the weak link in Mackey's chain. Gilroy makes Acevedo back off. Mackey assures Gilroy, who told him about the Justice Department probe, that Crowley's shooting was a "bust gone bad." Julien is coerced into a sexual initiation rite by his fellow officers. This episode was directed by Gary Fleder (Kiss the Girls). ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: The Spread
Aceveda (Benito Martinez) announces a Farmington-wide sweep of all outstanding warrants. Connie (Jamie Brown) goes to see Mackey (Michael Chiklis) to complain that a john slashed her when she tried to put a condom on him. He's busy serving warrants, so he asks Dutch (Jay Karnes) to take her to the hospital and find the john. On their raid, Mackey's squad finds East-Coast NBA star Derrick Tripp (Elimu Nelson) in a drug dealer's shoddy hotel room with an unlicensed gun. Knowing how Tripp manhandles the Lakers, Mackey and Shane (Walton Goggins) decide to keep the hoopster occupied for the day so he misses the game, while Shane lays down a big bet on the home team. Tomas (Brent Roam), one of the men busted by Danny (Catherine Dent) and Julien (Michael Jace) mentions that he's seen Julien outside a gay club, the Abbey. Julien, a devout Christian, denies it. Connie identifies her john, Richard Greeley (Kirk Baltz), a schizophrenic with an inoperable brain tumor who saves his semen in his locked refrigerator. Dutch, off on a crazy tangent, questions Greeley about a series of seemingly unrelated prostitute murders, but Claudette (CCH Pounder) turns out to have the key to cracking the case. Mackey goes off to tend to Connie, leaving Shane and Lemonhead (Kenneth Johnson) to babysit Tripp. Shane, jealous of the athlete's money and fame, gets into a serious confrontation with Tripp. Danny and Julien uncover an arsenal, and Mackey and his wife Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) learn that their son Matthew (Joel Rosenthal) may have a developmental disorder. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Dawg Days
Danny (Catherine Dent) and Lemonhead (Kenny Johnson) are moonlighting, working security at a "shake club," where rap impresario Kern Little (Sticky Fingaz) is having a party with his girl and fellow recording artist, Tyesha (Chene Lawson). Kern's rival and former labelmate, T-Bonz (Dex Elliott Sanders), arrives, leading to a shootout in which two people are killed. To make matters worse for Mackey (Michael Chiklis), his own personal drug dealer, Rondell (Walter Jones), was on the scene and fired off a couple of shots. Mackey has him turn over a couple of guys from his side, and orders him to keep his dealers off the street until things settle down. But Rondell doesn't follow orders very well. Mackey gets Kern and T-Bonz to agree to a 24-hour truce while he (Mackey) arbitrates their financial disagreement. Things get more complicated for him when Danny identifies him (from a mug shot) for Acevedo (Benito Martinez). Mackey tells Rondell not to worry, but Rondell decides to take action on his own. Acevedo gets Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) to track down a missing illegal immigrant day worker as a favor to Jorge Machado (Efrain Figueroa), a political powerbroker who's thinking about helping Acevedo run for the city council. When the ceasefire is broken, Mackey comes up with a unique way to settle the dispute between Kern and T-Bonz. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Dragonchasers
One of the strippers at a local club is leading customers into a back alley for sex so that her partner can mug them. While Mackey (Michael Chiklis) and the Strike Team work an unconventional sting operation, Julien (Michael Jace) and Danny (Catherine Dent) catch a guy, Sean Taylor (Michael Kelly), pleasuring himself in a nearby alley, and let him off with a warning. But when Dutch (Jay Karnes) hears about it, he insists on tracking down Taylor, who he instinctively believes may be his mythical serial killer. Connie (Jamie Brown) calls Mackey in a panic when her mother dies suddenly of a stroke, leaving her to take care of her infant son on her own. Mackey takes the boy home (much to Corrine's (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) chagrin) and leaves someone to look after Connie while she tries to kick heroin. The Strike Team nails Tulips (Nichole Hiltz), a nubile stripper, after she leads Shane (Walton Goggins) into the alley to be mugged. Shane, sensing a rapport between them, does everything he can to get Tulips a good deal, even after all the other girls at the club back her partner's story about Tulips being the mastermind behind the muggings. Tereza Verela (Sandra Purpuro), a reporter, stirs things up at the station by trying to dig up dirt on Aceveda (Benito Martinez). Danny is bitten by a transvestite hooker, necessitating a trip to the hospital, while Julien contemplates payback. Dutch interrogates Taylor, who takes the opportunity to psychoanalyze and humiliate the sensitive cop. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Circles
Tensions grow in the neighborhood where two women were killed due to a delayed police response to a 911 call. Julien (Michael Jace) and Danny (Catherine Dent) receive a phony 911 call, which lures them into an ambush in which two other uniform cops are killed. Mackey (Michael Chiklis) has to move Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) and the children to protect them from Gilroy (John Diehl), whom he can't find. While Mackey investigates the rash of cop killings, Gilroy shows up at the station to take Dutch (Jay Karnes) off the incriminating hit-and-run case. He also takes over Aceveda's (Benito Martinez) office and tries to enlist Aceveda in taking down Mackey. Mackey goes to Aceveda and tells him the whole story about the hit-and-run and where it's led, and suggests teaming up to take Gilroy down. As the cops track down the shooters, Aceveda manages to track down Gilroy's girlfriend/real estate partner, Sedona (Lana Parrilla). ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

The Shield: Two Days of Blood
Mackey (Michael Chiklis) busts a cockfighting ring. One of the suspects offers to help the Strike Team nab a major gun dealer, so Shane (Walton Goggins) goes undercover as a trainer to catch him. But Shane is more interested in the bounty that the Mexican government is offering for the gunrunner than in making the bust. Gilroy (John Diehl) is involved in a hit-and-run, and he goes to Mackey for help in covering up the crime, while Dutch (Jay Karnes) conducts an investigation. In an underserved black neighborhood, a white man brutally murders his girlfriend's mother and her friend 47 minutes after the women had called 911. While Claudette (CCH Pounder) investigates the crime, Gilroy publicly shifts the blame to Aceveda (Benito Martinez) for the neighborhood's lack of police manpower. But in the course of investigating the hit-and-run, Dutch and Mackey discover that there's more to the case than meets the eye, and Dutch's friendship with Gilroy is severely tested. Meanwhile, Julien (Michael Jace) gets advice from Reverend Cook (Dick Anthony Williams) about how to "overcome" his homosexuality. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Carnivores
Someone is trying to drive Rondell (Walter Emanuel Jones) out of the drug business. Things come to a head when they shoot up Kern's (Sticky Fingaz) car. Rondell suspects the Nation of Islam, which has been trying to push him out of the neighborhood around their mosque, leading to a scuffle between Rondell and the NOI leader, Xavier Salaam (Mailon Rivera). But Mackey (Michael Chiklis) quickly realizes that the confrontational Salaam is a law-abiding citizen. Mackey soon learns that a Rondell underling, Tio (Cedric Pendleton), wants to push the irresponsible, hotheaded Rondell out, and take over his deal with Mackey. After Julien (Michael Jace) and Danny (Catherine Dent) witness the suicide of a Korean robbery victim, Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) encounter cultural barriers while investigating the crime. When Mackey finds out his autistic son was waitlisted at a special school due to unflattering headlines about police corruption, he works to ingratiate himself to the school administrator (Sandy Mulvihill). Aceveda (Benito Martinez) pays a visit to an old girlfriend from college (Katy Boyer), who once accused him of rape, in an effort to keep her politically damaging story out of the papers. Tomas (Brent Roam) gets busted for stealing CDs, and accuses Julien of abandoning him. Still unable to come to terms with his sexuality, Julien has a life-threatening breakdown on the job. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Throwaway
A truck is hijacked and the driver viciously beaten. Mackey (Michael Chiklis) goes to work on the case, despite the fact that it's his day off, annoying his overburdened wife, Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan). The driver describes his assailant's tattoos, leading Mackey and the Strike Team to suspect Hector (Rolando Molina), a member of the Los Mags gang. They stake out the home of Hector's girlfriend, Tigre (Liz Jemielita). When a young man shows up at her door, Mackey and Lemonhead (Kenny Johnson) go after him. Mistaking a carton of stolen cigarettes for a gun, Lemonhead shoots the young man. Mackey plants a "throwaway" gun on him. The young man turns out to be, not Hector, but Chaco (Robert Zepeda), Tigre's brother, a reformed gang member who is trying to lead a clean life. Chaco survives the shooting, but now faces a trumped-up gun charge. Mackey and Lemonhead have to find a way to clear Chaco and nail Hector. Complicating the situation, Lemonhead develops a romantic relationship with Tigre. Meanwhile, Claudette (CCH Pounder) is unhappy when her father, Bryce (Roscoe Lee Browne), arrives at the station and tries to get her to reconcile with her estranged daughter. Claudette is also unhappy about the rapport that quickly builds between her father and her partner, Dutch (Jay Karnes), as the cops investigate the case of Maynard (Ralph Drischell), a blind old man, left chained to a stake in his backyard by his uncaring son, Lloyd (Mystro Clark). ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Co-Pilot
This episode takes us back 14 months, to the origin of the Strike Team. A less hardened Mackey (Michael Chiklis) convinces Gilroy (John Diehl) to let him handpick and run the team, which will be based in a new satellite precinct, the Barn. Aceveda (Benito Martinez) gives them their first case, a drive-by shooting of two prostitutes. Mackey's informant, Connie (Jamie Brown) tells him it was a pimp/drug dealer named Lionel Phipps (Dayo Ade). The Strike Team butts heads with Aceveda, who likes to do things by the book, but demands immediate results. Mackey finds himself forced to cut corners, using Connie and a dealer who works for Phipps, Rondell Robinson (Walter Emanuel Jones), to plant evidence and bust Phipps. Danny (Catherine Dent) and her new rookie partner, Julien (Michael Jace), find a bloody, naked woman who has been kidnapped and raped. Claudette (CCH Pounder), Dutch (Jay Karnes), and an old vet, Tom Gannon (Ray Baker), take on the case, which leads them to a kidnapping ring that targets illegal immigrants and to a "ransom broker," Latigo (Richard Yniguez), who claims to be helping the families in exchange for a cut of the ransom. Dutch has never heard of Claudette, but he's in awe of Gannon, who once solved a major murder case. Gannon gossips about Dutch behind his back and plays pranks on him. Dutch soon discovers he works well with Claudette anyway. Aceveda seems eager to replace Mackey, and convinces Gilroy to let him pick his own man for the Strike Team, the ill-fated Terry Crowley (Reed Diamond). This episode was helmed by actor/director Peter Horton. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Inferno
Julien (Michael Jace) single-handedly takes down an armed suspect in a department store, but his triumph is short-lived, as Tomas (Brent Roam) returns, and threatens to expose his recent sexual past to his new family. Aceveda's (Benito Martinez) city council campaign is losing steam, and Mackey (Michael Chiklis) suggests they could both use a major bust to boost their public image. He learns that a major gang leader, also wanted by the feds, is in town. Ronnie (David Rees Snell) is out of the hospital, and anxious to get back to work, including hitting the Armenian "money train." Lannie (Lucinda Jenney) is working all the angles trying to nail Mackey, including having him tailed, and trying to get the newest Strike Team member, Tavon (Brian White), to turn on him. Tavon is proving himself in the field, but Shane (Walton Goggins) doesn't trust him. Mackey uses Kern Little (Sticky Fingaz) to help find the gang leader, but Kern wants a lot in return, and Mackey has decided that the Strike Team, at least temporarily, is no longer in the drug trade. Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) try to sort out a promiscuous teenage girl's (Ashley Bashioum) claim that she was raped by her boss (Jeff Kober). This episode was directed by Brad Anderson (Next Stop Wonderland). ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Scar Tissue
A maimed Ronnie (David Rees Snell) tells Mackey (Michael Chiklis) that Armadillo (Danny Pino) did it. Claudette (CCH Pounder) tells Mackey she wants to help him find Armadillo, but Mackey doesn't want her help. The Strike Team dips into their retirement fund, spreading money out on the street to get info on Armadillo's whereabouts. Aceveda (Benito Martinez) tells Julien (Michael Jace) he's up for a promotion, and Julien marvels to Danny (Catherine Dent) about how well his life seems to be going. With Claudette busy trying to figure out what Mackey is up to, Dutch (Jay Karnes) enlists Danny's aid in solving an assault case. The Strike Team finds an informant, Little Pop (Frank Gallegos), who wants to get back at Armadillo for cutting him out of the drug trade. Corinne (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) shows up at the station after someone tries to break into her house, and ends up having an informative conversation with Claudette, which makes Mackey very angry. The Strike Team finds Armadillo, but before they can get to him, he turns himself in. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Homewrecker
Aceveda (Benito Martinez) finds a minority candidate for the Strike Team, but Mackey (Michael Chiklis) manages to scare the guy off. Danny (Catherine Dent) tells Julien (Michael Jace) she won't let his fiancée know about his "former" homosexuality, but she warns him that his secret could come back to haunt him. Worried about the threat from Armadillo, Mackey has a high tech security system installed in his home, and asks a PI friend to secretly keep an eye on his wife and kids. Danny is forced to apologize to Yahssira Al-Thani (Veena Bidasha) after the woman complains that she made threatening phone calls. As part of a new program for captains, Aceveda goes out on patrol with Julien, and bungles the investigation of a kid's stolen bike. Mackey, Claudette (CCH Pounder), and Dutch (Jay Karnes) investigate a massacre at a battered women's shelter, from which a young boy was kidnapped. The trail leads to the boy's father, who is holed up with a prostitute, so Mackey asks Connie (Jamie Brown) to use her connections to help him. While Dutch and Claudette clash over how to interrogate a uniform cop who's a friend of the firefighter suspect, Connie, thinking of a financial reward, takes her informant work a dangerous step further. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: The Quick Fix
Armadillo Quintero (Danny Pino), a Mexican drug dealer, is in L.A. and is making his presence felt, brutally murdering two captains from rival gangs. Mackey (Michael Chiklis) has hired Gordie Liman (Mark Rolston), a private detective, to track down his missing wife, but he's not having much luck. While Mackey's been preoccupied with his domestic situation, Shane (Walton Goggins) has been increasing the Strike Team's involvement in the drug trade, and using their "retirement fund" to do it. When Mackey tries to take some of the money out to pay Liman, he finds out it's all tied up in a huge cocaine shipment. Things get worse when the shipment turns out to be tainted, nearly killing one of Tio's (Cedric Pendleton) men. Mackey soon learns that Armadillo and his brother, Navaro (Emilio Rivera), based in Mexico, are responsible for both the gang killings and the tainted drug shipment. Lanie Kellis (Lucinda Jenney), a civilian auditor, is investigating "The Barn," so Aceveda (Benito Martinez) asks Mackey to keep his act together, but Mackey decides to bring the Strike Team to Mexico to get their drug money back. The team takes Navaro hostage to get the money. Back in L.A., no one is willing to come forward against Armadillo except Mayda (Chelsea Rendon), a little girl whose brother Armadillo murdered. Dutch (Jay Karnes) wants to let her testify, but Claudette (CCH Pounder) is frightened for the child's safety. They bring Armadillo in for questioning, but don't have enough to hold him. Julien (Michael Jace) asks a struggling single mother out on a date. Lanie lets Aceveda know that his enemies on the city council want her to find dirt on him. He tells Mackey that he'll watch his back if Mackey gets his head back in the game. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Dead Soldiers
Mackey (Michael Chiklis) and the Strike Team bust some thugs that recently joined Armadillo's (Danny Pino) gang, and leave the team's calling card as a message. Armadillo responds by torching Tio's (Cedric Pendleton) drug crib, and leaves a dead pig at the scene with Mackey's card. Mackey tries to bully Claudette (C.C.H. Pounder) off the arson case, but Aceveda (Benito Martinez) tells them to work together. Claudette soon finds out that Tio is registered as one of Mackey's informants. She also finds a safe in the burned-out building, which contains Tio's cash and coded ledgers. Danny (Catherine Dent) and Julien (Michael Jace) investigate a complaint that a woman makes against her Syrian neighbor (Veena Bidasha), whom she accuses of being a terrorist. Dutch (Jay Karnes) takes Lanie (Lucinda Jenney) along as he investigates the shooting of a meter maid. Claudette finds the ledgers and questions Tio about who the person listed as "landlord" is. Tio's been coached, but Claudette starts to suspect what Mackey's up to. Mackey has Tio's boys burn down one of Armadillo's gangs buildings. While Claudette goes to investigate that arson, Mackey and Aceveda cut Tio loose. The dispute with the Arab neighbor turns violent, and Armadillo commits another murder, pushing Mackey over the edge. This episode was directed by John Badham (Saturday Night Fever). ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Breakpoint
After seeing the auditor's report on the Barn, Chief Bankston (Ron Canada) tells Aceveda (Benito Martinez) he wants the unit cut by 20 percent, and he wants Aceveda to give him a list of names by the end of the day, so Aceveda is forced to neglect his city council campaign with the primary looming. Julien (Michael Jace) unwisely takes his "sexual reorientation" sponsor to see Tomas (Brent Roam), which results in an assault, Tomas' arrest, and his outing of Julien in front of some unsympathetic uniforms. Danny (Catherine Dent) tries to defend Julien, but the homophobic cops start to harass him. Mackey (Michael Chiklis) is getting skittish about the money train because the Armenians are changing their routine. Mackey pays a visit to Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) that ends badly when he learns she's changed the locks on the house. He and Shane (Walton Goggins) help Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) investigate the disappearance of a teenage boy, which Dutch links to the kidnappings, rapes, and murders of two other local teens. Mackey works closely with the boy's father (Roy Fegan), who turns out to know much less about his son's life than he thinks he does. Claudette gets into another fracas with Mackey as she ponders Bankston's offer to let her run the Barn after Aceveda resigns. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Dominoes Falling
Mackey (Michael Chiklis) gets out of jail and goes back to work, plotting to take down the money train. Chief Bankston (Ron Canada) lets him know that Aceveda (Benito Martinez) wanted him and the whole Strike Team fired. Claudette's (CCH Pounder) ex-husband is murdered in an apparently random gang shooting. While she talks to her distraught daughter, trying to determine why they were in such a rough neighborhood, Mackey uses his gang connections to help Dutch (Jay Karnes) track down the killer. He has Tavon (Brian White) work with him, partly to distract the newbie from the surreptitious money-train plotting. As the primary results come in, Bankston gives Aceveda his own list of people to fire, and Aceveda spends an unpleasant day calling the cops in to tell them the bad news. Julien (Michael Jace) is provoked to violence by the gay-baiting at the station, prompting Danny (Catherine Dent) to report the culprits to Aceveda. The Strike Team finally hits the Armenian money train, but things don't go smoothly, and blood is spilled. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Barnstormers
The Strike Team rehearses for their planned robbery of the Armenian money train. Ronnie (David Rees Snell) seems particularly worried about being "greenlit" by Armadillo (Danny Pino). Aceveda (Benito Martinez) criticizes Dutch (Jay Karnes) for his handling of a recent case, in which he let Marcy (Melanie Lynskey) and her husband leave the station while a young woman was dying in the trunk of their car. When Dutch asks Marcy how she fooled him, she says, "I just let you fool yourself." Mackey (Michael Chiklis) is forced to deal with a domestic disturbance in the hotel where he's staying. Emma (Marguerite MacIntyre) criticizes his two-fisted technique, but it's clear that she's attracted to him. The Strike Team finds someone to launder their money for them. Tulips (Nichole Hiltz) returns to the station with a hot tip for Shane (Walton Goggins). Shane doesn't want anything to do with her, but Mackey insists that he follow her lead and make an easy bust. Danny (Catherine Dent) gets passed over for promotion because of the bogus complaints against her. Dutch becomes unsure of himself when a woman is found strangled in the park. He defers to Claudette (CCH Pounder) as they interrogate Stu (Mike Bruner), the obese suspect. Julien (Michael Jace) tells Vanessa (Monnae Michaell) that he's in a sexual reorientation program. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Coyotes
Lannie's (Lucinda Jenney) scalding report on the Barn is leaked to the local newspapers, causing major embarrassment for Aceveda (Benito Martinez) and the Strike Team. Gilroy (John Diehl) calls Mackey (Michael Chiklis) to tell him that he's escaped house arrest, and that the DA wants him to rat Mackey out, so it would be in Mackey's best interest to help him get out of the country. Mackey is forced to deal with Gilroy, who may be setting him up, while a new officer, Aceveda's minority candidate, Tavon (Brian White), tries out for the Strike Team. The new police chief, Bankston (Ron Canada) lets Aceveda know that he plans to clean house, and Aceveda will have to resign after the city council election -- win or lose. While Claudette (CCH Pounder) works on a case -- involving an old woman who died of a heart attack around the time her home was broken into -- Lannie asks her for assistance in cleaning up the Barn. Danny (Catherine Dent), who's been tipped off by Claudette, angrily confronts Mackey about the murder in the holding pen that she's being blamed for. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Partners
After viciously assaulting Armadillo (Danny Pino), Mackey (Michael Chiklis) storms off into the night. Claudette (C.C.H. Pounder) begins to investigate Tio's murder. Someone dumps a severed arm on Dutch's (Jay Karnes) desk, and he desperately tries to find the girl it belongs to in the hopes that she's being kept alive by whoever maimed her. After identifying the victim through fingerprints, he questions a couple, Marcy (Melanie Lynskey) and Bob (Marc Vann), who live nearby and claim to have seen the victim arguing with a man. Things take a strange turn when Dutch learns that Bob was charged with kidnapping years earlier. Dutch tries to bully Marcy into turning Bob in before it's too late. Joe (Carl Weathers of the Rocky movies), Mackey's old training partner, shows up with a plan to get revenge on Fleetwood Walker (Garland Whitt), the thug who successfully sued the department and ended his police career. Mackey helps him uncover Fleetwood's recent criminal activities before things turn sour. Danny (Catherine Dent) finds out that the wife of the Arab man she shot is suing her and the department, claiming she acted out of racial bias. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Greenlit
Mackey (Michael Chiklis) and Shane (Walton Goggins) tell the team about their plans to take down the money train. Lem (Kenny Johnson) thinks it's a bad idea to take on the Armenian mob, and he bows out, making Shane and Mackey question his loyalty to them. Connie (Jamie Brown) shows up with a tip about a guy, Felipe (Jonathan Hernandez), who's giving heroin to school kids. Vic ends up giving her a CI contract. It turns out that Felipe is handing out free samples at schools throughout Farmington, and he's working for Armadillo (Danny Pino). Armadillo approaches Danny (Catherine Dent) on the street with a message for Mackey. He threatens to tell what he knows about Mackey's drug connections if he gets caught. Julien (Michael Jace) invites Danny to his wedding to Vanessa (Monnae Michaell), and Danny feels compelled to point out that Julien is gay. He insists that he's "reformed." Claudette (CCH Pounder) and Dutch (Jay Karnes) go looking for an old woman with Alzheimer's who's wandered off, and Dutch's newfound cynicism rears its head again. When Mackey decides to use Felipe as an undercover informant even though he's underage, Aceveda (Benito Martinez) objects. But when a three-year-old dies after ingesting the heroin he found in his brother's backpack, the captain knows he has to turn Mackey loose. The Strike Team decides that they have to get to Armadillo first and kill him before he can talk, but their sting doesn't go according to plan. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Carte Blanche
Aceveda (Benito Martinez) gives Mackey (Michael Chiklis) a medal after the Fleetwood Walker bust. It turns out it was Lanie's (Lucinda Jenney) idea. The cops at "The Barn" also add a new twist to their annual "Toys for Guns" drive -- a raffle, which also gets them the address of everyone who turns in a gun, so they can trace back the guns that have been used to commit crimes. One is linked to an old unsolved murder case of Claudette's (CCH Pounder), and the trail eventually leads to Manny Sandoval (Jonathan Neil Schneider), a lowlife loan shark Claudette's been after for years. But Dutch (Jay Karnes) is having doubts about his own investigative instincts. Someone steals a bunch of diamonds using Shane's (Walton Goggins) badge, which was stolen in Tijuana. Mackey finds out they belonged to the Armenian mob, and convinces Aceveda to let him and Shane "pretend" to be corrupt cops and run a sting operation. But Aceveda wants Shane transferred off the Strike Team to make room for a minority applicant, in order to help the team's public image. Mackey and Shane find out that the "money train" of urban legend, through which the Armenian mob launders all the money they make in the western United States, actually exists, and Mackey decides to start planning the Strike Team's robbery. The Arab woman, Yahssira Al-Thani (Veena Bidasha), whose husband Danny (Catherine Dent) shot, claims that she has another witness to Danny's alleged racial insensitivity, but Aceveda continues to support Danny. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: All In
Vic (Michael Chiklis) persuades an increasingly disgruntled Lem (Kenny Johnson) to help him convince Tavon (Brian J. White) that he hit Mara (Michele Hicks) during his fight with Shane (Walton Goggins), so that he'll agree to help them cover up the whole incident. The murder of a public defender opens up a case that could cause tremendous problems for the department, but Claudette (CCH Pounder) insists on following through, regardless of the consequences to her career. Mara (Michele Hicks) asks Shane to request a transfer, because she doesn't want Vic to be a part of their lives. The treasury department uncovers their mole, who reveals that the Armenians most recently asked for information about Vic, Lem, Shane, and Ronnie (David Rees Snell). With the Armenians hunting them, and his team unraveling, Vic decides to take the fight to them. A look into the Armenians' illegal gas business leads to a heroin operation that eventually leads them into deadly proximity with their old nemesis, Margos (Kurt Sutter, uncredited). Meanwhile, increased scrutiny on money laundering makes it impossible for the team to clean their stolen loot, and Lem grows increasingly worried about the Strike Team going down. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Slipknot
Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) is attacked at the hospital by an Asian man (Xuyen Tu Valdivia) she's trying to patch up. Vic (Michael Chiklis) argues with Owen (Vincent Angell) over whether or not she should go to the station and file a report. Vic plans to hunt down the perp regardless. Called away on other police business, he asks Julien (Michael Jace) to alert him when they catch the guy. Vic learns that the feds have traced some of the marked bills from the "Money Train" job to a bank in Indio. A talented young black graffiti artist is found lynched, and despite the fact that the victim had no gang affiliation, gang involvement is suspected. When a local Hispanic priest affiliated with Los Profetas is stabbed to death soon afterward, with the signature of the One-Niners, Aceveda (Benito Martinez) fears, rightly, that a gang war could erupt at any moment, and puts all of his available manpower on the case. Claudette (CCH Pounder) comes into conflict with Waylon (Gareth Williams) again over an assignment, and Vic continues to play both sides against the middle, offering to help Waylon get his Decoy Squad transferred out of the division, while appearing to support Claudette. When Vic puts his trust in the wrong gang leader, he tells Aceveda that it's because he's no longer in touch with the streets, and he needs to have the Strike Team turned loose again. Aceveda finally tells Aurora (Camilia Sanes) that he was sexually assaulted, and she is not as understanding as one might hope. This episode marked the directorial debut of star Michael Chiklis. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Safe
The president's in town, so The Barn is operating with a skeleton crew, which gives Vic (Michael Chiklis) and the Strike Team a window of opportunity. They somehow have to get the documents denoting the marked bills from the "Money Train" heist, which Aceveda (Benito Martinez) got from the treasury department, out of Aceveda's safe. Vic also has to deal with the mother of a teenaged girl who disappeared. The mom says a local street singer has written a narcocorrido detailing the girl's murder and burial. When Vic goes to search for the girl's body, he finds eight other corpses, all young illegals who died from exposure to methane. Vic also arranges an assignation with Lauren (Natalie Zea) of the canine unit, despite the fact that she's involved in a relationship. Aceveda gets rough with a suspect, and confides in a friend about his traumatic recent encounter with the two gang members. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: On Tilt
As the finale of the third season of The Shield opens, Vic (Michael Chiklis), Shane (Walton Goggins), and Ronnie (David Rees Snell) are dealing with the consequences of Lem (Kenny Johnson) torching the money from the "Money Train" heist. Lem will no longer get a cut, but there's still not much left to go around for all the risk they took, and as Aceveda (Benito Martinez) explains, if Lem leaves the group, the police chief will not replace him, and the Strike Team will not have enough members to continue. The team also confirms that they're being targeted by the Armenian mob, and Vic decides to take matters into his own hands in his pursuit of Margos (Kurt Sutter, uncredited). Claudette (CCH Pounder) doggedly continues to pursue the case of the drugged-up public defender, despite getting pressured by Aceveda to drop it. That case, and Dutch's (Jay Karnes) continued interest in Vic's possible involvement with the Armenians, makes them a very unpopular pair at The Barn. Meanwhile, Danny (Catherine Dent) scores points with her handling of the case of a local business owner (André Benjamin of OutKast) who resorts to aggressive tactics in trying to get the drug dealers and prostitutes off his block. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Playing Tight
Two men are found executed with their feet cut off, and it's soon determined that they're members of the Armenian mob. While Dutch (Jay Karnes) investigates the case, Vic (Michael Chiklis) and his Strike Team realize that the Armenians think the "Money Train" robbery (from season two) was an inside job. A routine drug bust leads to a cache of ammo, which Vic discovers intended for a large number of MP-5 weapons that were stolen from the military. Vic works his contacts in the Byz Latz and the One-Niners in an effort to track down the guns before they are used in a potential gang war. Claudette (CCH Pounder) clashes with Aceveda (Benito Martinez) when he delays turning control of The Barn over to her. Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) hires Owen (Vincent Angell) to tutor Matthew (Joel Rosenthal) and informs Vic that she is going back to work to help pay for it. Vic also argues with Shane (Walton Goggins), who wants to buy a car for his new girlfriend, Mara (Michele Hicks). Danny (Catherine Dent), working as a school security guard while she appeals her firing, learns that Aceveda can get her back on the force if she'll agree to keep an eye on her fellow officers for him. An agent from the treasury department shows up at The Barn to speak with Aceveda because some of the money stolen from the Armenians had been marked during a sting operation. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Blood and Water
Unaware that some of the "Money Train" cash has been marked by the feds, Vic (Michael Chiklis) decides to use some of it for a sting operation to track down the stolen military weaponry. Vic and Shane (Walton Goggins) pose as white supremacists to buy the guns, but things go wrong when Garza (Guillermo Diaz) the Byz Latz gang leader who's supposed to sell them the guns, double-crosses and outflanks them, making off with their cash. The Strike Team has to scramble to get the cash back and find the weapons in order to avert a gang war, all without letting team member Tavon (Brian J. White), who wasn't in on the "Money Train" heist, find out what they're up to. Garza is also apparently involved in a murder case that Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) are investigating. It's an apparent gang hit, but the only witness, Esteban (Jeremy Ray Valdez), is a bookish young man, a friend of the victim who claims he didn't see anything. Vic tries to use Diagur (Frankie Rodriguez), Garza's number two man, to take down Garza. Claudette goes over Aceveda's (Benito Martinez) head in an effort to get her promotion. Julien (Michael Jace) and his partner, Tommy (Matt Gerald), face a charge of excessive force, and Danny (Catherine Dent) returns to work. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

To placate the disgruntled Claudette (CCH Pounder), he puts her in charge of both the Decoy Squad and the Strike Team. Vic (Michael Chiklis) is none too happy about sharing his space with another group, particularly while the Strike Team is trying to figure out what to do about the marked money they stole. The two groups team up in a prostitution sting, which nets a local politician, causing some political friction for Aceveda (Benito Martinez). Farrah (Mageina Tovah), a prostitute, recognizes Vic from his work with his murdered C.I., Connie, and offers to help him bring down her pimp, Smooth (Faruq Tuaheed), who recently kicked her to the curb. Danny (Catherine Dent) gets a domestic disturbance call that brings her to Julien's (Michael Jace) house. Dutch (Jay Karnes) tries a new interrogation tactic on an attempted murder suspect. When it backfires, he's forced to call upon the harried Claudette (CCH Pounder) for help. Aceveda (Benito Martinez) forces Danny and Julien to partner up again. Claudette assigns both the Strike Team and the Decoy Squad to a high-profile robbery/carjacking case in which a prominent homeless advocate was killed. Vic and Waylon (Gareth Williams), the leader of the Decoy Squad, decide to compete to solve the case, and make a friendly wager. Whichever team nabs the culprits first wins, and the losing team has to streak through The Barn. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

After his car accident, precipitated by his violent altercation with Shane (Walton Goggins) and Mara (Michele Hicks), Tavon (Brian J. White) is in the hospital with possible traumatic brain damage. Vic (Michael Chiklis) visits Shane at home to find out where he was last night, and sees through the couple's shaky cover story. Claudette (CCH Pounder) and Vic clash over his team's latest assignment, but it leads him to a bigger case involving a Byz Latz member sneaking contraband into Chino. Vic finds out that Aceveda (Benito Martinez) and a federal agent are interrogating his smuggling suspect, Aranis (Manuel G. Jimenez), about some marked bills in the money collected in the bust, and realizes that some of the cash from the "Money Train" robbery is marked. This enrages Vic (Michael Chiklis), who sees it as a territorial pissing match between the Wilshire captain and Aceveda (Benito Martinez), so Vic gets Julien and Danny (Catherine Dent) to join him in going "off the grid" to find the killer. This leads to some complications, as they find out that Tommy may actually have been involved in the deaths. Danny threatens to report them to Aceveda when Vic's tactics go too far. Vic also learns that Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) has more than a professional relationship with Matthew's (Joel Rosenthal) therapist, Owen (Vincent Angell). Aceveda orders Dutch (Jay Karnes) to give a press conference about the serial rapists, despite his protestations. Forced to talk to the press without having made much headway in the case, Dutch decides to bait the rapist by questioning his virility. It seems to work, as the criminal contacts a reporter, offering to talk with Dutch face to face, on camera. Aceveda gets an unhappy visit from his wife, Aurora (Camilia Sanes), who, unaware that he's recently been sexually assaulted, wonders why he hasn't come home for a few days. The Strike Team and the Decoy Squad team up again, this time to catch local thugs who have been assaulting gay hustlers. The team finds a patsy (Jim Budig) to take the rest of the marked money. Aceveda (Benito Martinez) has been tracking Juan (Kurt Caceres), the Byz Latz gang member who assaulted him, and when Juan commits a convenience-store robbery, Aceveda is there to stop it, shooting one of his accomplices, while Juan escapes. The local media hail the captain as a hero. He assigns the Strike Team to help him find Juan. This leads to Vic and his people finding a massive cache of heroin and weapons, which, unfortunately for Shane and Army (Michael Pena), turns out to be the property of Antwon. They don't have time to warn Antwon about the bust, and later, he makes his displeasure known. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Hurt
As part of the auto-shop sting operation, Ronnie (David Rees Snell) gets surveillance footage of Russian mobster plotting to torch a building for an insurance scam. Monica (Glenn Close) and Vic (Michael Chiklis) are planning the raid, but Assistant Chief Phillips (Nigel Gibbs) shows up and calls it off, handing the case to the Organized Crime Unit. It turns out that Aceveda (Benito Martinez) has been using all of his political clout to squash Vic and get control of the seizure program, and he's obtained a doctored videotape of the church raid that will embarrass the department when it hits the local media. Monica tries to get his help in squashing the tape, but he refuses to help her unless she pulls Vic off the street. Vic is furious when Monica asks him to take a step back, temporarily. Julien (Michael Jace) continues to come into conflict with both Danny (Catherine Dent) and Monica over his issues with the seizure policy. Shane (Walton Goggins) brings in a Byz Lats informant, Hielo (Giovanni Lopes), who is willing to give up Hernesto (Lombardo Boyar), who's running a contraband cigarette scheme. Meanwhile, the mob leader avoids the OCU's raid, and Vic decides to quietly use his gang contacts to track him down. Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) investigate the case of a foster child who's been sexually assaulted and forced to drink a toxic household cleanser. Monica takes a personal interest in the case, coming into conflict with the social worker responsible for the family. Ronnie shows Vic and Lem (Kenny Johnson) surveillance video of Antwon (Anthony Anderson) coercing Shane into agreeing to commit a murder in exchange for recovering Angie's body. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: String Theory
Shane (Walton Goggins) has told Vic (Michael Chiklis) everything about his dealings with Antwon (Anthony Anderson), but Lem (Kenny Johnson) still doesn't trust Shane or Army (Michael Pena). Vic decides to help Shane retrieve Angie's body, so Antwon won't have power over him, but when they look where Halpern (Laurence Mason) told them to, the body isn't there. Two patrolmen, Scooby (Robert Wu) and Carl (Jarvis W. George), go missing after responding to a domestic dispute call. Monica (Glenn Close) makes Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) the primaries on the case, but their only witness is Roger (Joel Stoffer), a mentally unstable homeless man. Aceveda (Benito Martinez) asks to take an active role in the case, and goes out on patrol with Danny (Catherine Dent), putting himself in harm's way. The bodies of the two officers are left in a house that the department has seized for the cops to find. Dutch is eventually able to locate the crime scene and a piece of jewelry apparently left behind by one of the killers. Vic's investigation into Antwon's involvement leads to nothing about the murdered cops, but he does get new information about the location of Angie's body. Lem finds out that Antwon is flying back to L.A. from Las Vegas, and Vic makes plans to intercept him before Monica can have him picked up for questioning. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

The Shield: Ain't That a Shame
As the fourth-season finale of The Shield begins, everyone at The Barn is angry that Antwon (Anthony Anderson) got a deal from the DEA and is not going to be charged for the murder of two cops. Monica (Glenn Close) suggests to Vic (Michael Chiklis) and Shane (Walton Goggins) that they find a way to undermine the deal. Vic learns that Aceveda (Benito Martinez) visited both Juan Lozano and Antwon in prison, shortly before Juan was murdered. Suspecting that Aceveda might have had something to do with Juan's death, Vic confronts him, suggesting he find a connection between Juan and Antwon, because if Antwon murdered Juan after cutting the deal with the DEA, he could lose his immunity. Monica learns that Antwon is giving the DEA information about Bonilla (Al Cruz), a Salvadoran drug kingpin, so the team decides to try to bust him first, targeting gang leader Gusano (Pete Vasquez) to get information about him. Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) investigate a murder at a quinceañera. When the trail leads them back to the Walker foster home, an irate Monica makes several crucial decisions about the case that could jeopardize her captaincy. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Judas Priest
The police chief has decided to shelve the seizure policy, and Monica (Glenn Close) goes to Aceveda (Benito Martinez) to try to work out a deal to save it. Vic (Michael Chiklis) and his team are staking out Tretiak (Michael Khmurov), the Russian mobster who allegedly ordered the two cops killed. They find out that he's getting shipments of C4 sent to a local warehouse, and make a bust. They try to scare one of Tretiak's underlings by wiring Tretiak to a load of explosives, but things go horribly awry. They do learn, however, that another man was with the two Nigerians when they murdered the cops. A sting involving Taylor (RonReaco Lee) nabs the third man, Jason Porter (La Monde Byrd), a college student who has no criminal record. His involvement becomes a bit more understandable when Vic learns that he's Antwon's (Anthony Anderson) stepbrother. Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) investigate a homicide involving Bumper (Faleolo Alailima), a disabled man. Joanna Faulks (Rebecca Pidgeon) returns to The Barn looking for Dutch. She's being harassed and threatened because her husband was the "Cuddler Rapist," and she asks Dutch to help her get a carry permit for her gun. Dutch angrily confronts Billings (David Marciano) about the pranks that are being played on him by his fellow officers. Aceveda gets a subpoena to testify in Juan Lozano's (Kurt Caceres) appeal. Juan threatens to testify that he sexually assaulted Aceveda if Aceveda doesn't find a way to spring him. Aceveda turns to an unlikely ally for help in resolving the matter. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: A Thousand Deaths
Army (Michael Pena) and Shane (Walton Goggins) are practicing to beat the lie-detector test that Monica (Glenn Close) is making them take, but Army is very nervous about it. At a meeting with community leaders, Assistant Chief Phillips (Nigel Gibbs) lets Monica know that the seizure policy is being reevaluated. She goes to Aceveda (Benito Martinez), blaming him. Aceveda offers to help her if she'll agree to a few modifications, but she refuses, telling Phillips that she'll quit if the program is stopped. Antwon's arrest has created a power vacuum among the One-Niners, and Vic (Michael Chiklis) uses that to his advantage, playing Halpern (Laurence Mason) and Weed (Petey Pablo) against each other to get information about the cop killings. This leads him to a pair of Nigerian suspects, and, surprisingly, to a Russian mobster with no clear ties to Antwon. Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) investigate a drive-by shooting at a local car wash, and find out that Billings (David Marciano) witnessed the crime, but did nothing to stop it, and reported it anonymously. Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) tells Vic that she's been dating Dutch, and is surprised to learn that the two cops have an antagonistic relationship. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

The Shield: Back in the Hole
Aceveda (Benito Martinez) goes over the edge while he's engaged with Sara (Abby Brammell). After another young black woman is found strangled, Monica (Glenn Close) takes Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) off the cop-killer case so that they can interrogate Kleavon Gardner (Ray Campbell) again. Unfortunately, their only witnesses are a husband and wife who seem more interested in attacking each other than in helping the police. While Vic (Michael Chiklis) and Monica interrogate Antwon (Anthony Anderson), Lem (Kenny Johnson), Shane (Walton Goggins), Ronnie (David Rees Snell), and Army (Michael Pena) are in Griffith Park, using the information they got from Pitarrio (Danny Martinez) to find Angie's body, so that Shane and Army will be in the clear, and Vic can really go after Antwon. They can't find the body, though, so Vic has to try to keep the interrogation under control. Lem goes back to Pitarrio to clarify the location of the body, taking his stash of heroin as collateral, but Monica pushes Antwon with leverage she has over his son, and Antwon, distraught, instructs his lawyer to phone in an anonymous tip about the body to the police. Vic is forced to try a new tactic. This was a special 90-minute episode. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Cut Throat
Lem (Kenny Johnson) and Ronnie (David Rees Snell) are worried that Shane (Walton Goggins) might actually try to kill Vic (Michael Chiklis), but Vic doesn't seem too concerned. He even pays a visit to Antwon's (Anthony Anderson) house in the middle of the night and threatens him after a couple of police informants turn up dead. A local science teacher with no connection to the police is murdered in the same manner. Monica (Glenn Close) orders extra protection for all of the department's CIs. Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) investigate an assault and robbery at a gas station, which leads the observant Dutch to an unexpected run-in with the "Coffee Bandit." When Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) tells Vic that they might have to drop out of the class-action lawsuit in order for their daughter to be eligible for clinical trials of a promising new drug, he's forced to make certain financial arrangements. Aceveda (Benito Martinez) catches Sara (Abby Brammell) lying to him so she can visit another client, and he goes to great lengths to show her that, as he puts it, "I don't come second to anyone." Monica has Gino (José Zuñiga) from Internal Affairs take a closer look at Vic. Shane and Army (Michael Pena) decide to try to strong-arm Antwon's lieutenant, Halpern (Laurence Mason), in order to get out from under Antwon, but their plans go awry. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Insurgents
Antwon (Anthony Anderson) now has a hold on Shane (Walton Goggins) and Army (Michael Pena), and uses it to get them to bust one of his competitors, and give Antwon half his stash to replace the heroin he's lost. Monica (Glenn Close) gets injunctions against the One-Niners, meaning the gang members can no longer openly associate with one another, making it difficult to do business. Vic (Michael Chiklis) stumbles into a DEA sting. The DEA is trying to tie Antwon's heroin supply to a Salvadoran stolen car ring, and the local cops work with them to make a bust, but Shane tips off Antwon, so they end up with nothing. Vic is able to track down another drug stash at a local church. Julien (Michael Jace) refuses to be a part of the raid, angering Monica, who later suggests he request a transfer. The church raid is ugly, but successful. Lem (Kenny Johnson) tells Vic that Angie has disappeared, and he worries that Shane might have turned her over to Antwon or even killed her himself. Vic doesn't believe it, even though Vic and Ronnie (David Rees Snell) have surveillance video of Shane and Antwon making deals and sharing information. Claudette (CCH Pounder) isn't speaking to Dutch (Jay Karnes). Investigating the strangling of a young black woman, they bring in Kleavon Gardner (Ray Campbell), who recently moved to L.A. from Texas, where authorities suspected him of being a serial killer. The case goes in a different direction, but Dutch still believes that Kleavon is a murderer. Dutch also decides to ask Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) out on a date. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Doghouse

He also turns to a call girl, Sara (Abby Brammell), to help him work through his ongoing trauma over being sexually assaulted. Danny (Catherine Dent) and Julien (Michael Jace) pick up a graffiti artist (Vanetta Smith) who might be involved in fomenting a gang war. ADA Encardi (Anna Maria Horsford) tells Dutch (Jay Karnes) that the DA's office wants a "favor" in exchange for getting him and Claudette (CCH Pounder) back in their good graces. They're told to bust a drug dealer (Mel Winkler), who turns out to be very small-time, arousing Claudette's suspicions. A rapist escapes from the county courthouse and attacks another victim. Vic turns to Suvuto (Noel Guglielmi), a gang leader, for help in capturing the rapist, with decidedly mixed results. Shane (Walton Goggins) and Army (Michael Pena) make a power play, beating up on Antwon's (Anthony Anderson) lieutenant Halpern (Laurence Mason) when the man himself fails to show up at a meeting. Vic continues to go after Antwon, this time busting one of his many illegitimate children, Donald III (Edward Hendershott), on a minor charge. Vic also feeds Shane some information about one of Antwon's operations to see if the information will get back to Antwon. After promising Antwon protection from Vic, Shane asks to come back to The Barn. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

    The Shield: Grave
Cal (Joe Renteria), an old friend of Vic's (Michael Chiklis) who owns a restaurant, asks Vic to help him straighten out one of his employees, Cyril (Peter Pasco), who has a drug problem and has apparently disappeared. Vic goes out of his way to help Cal, which has negative repercussions when Cyril's problems turn out to be more serious, and he's involved in a shoot-out while robbing a store. Ben Gilroy (John Diehl, uncredited) turns up dead after apparently living a very rough life in Mexico. Aceveda (Benito Martinez) decides to shut down the AGC sting operation, because Louis (Dominic Hoffman) betrayed them, opening up a new company with seed money from the big clients he warned about the sting. Monica (Glenn Close) decides to offer Louis a deal to set up a new operation at the new company, angering Aceveda, who has not officially stepped down yet. Monica also gets the men's room fixed, and tells Aceveda that she plans to use a new forfeiture plan to seize criminals' assets and auction them off to pay for The Barn's upkeep and donate some cash to local social programs. Shane (Walton Goggins) has been shaking down the pimps and dealers on his beat, and is breaking in a new partner, Armando (Michael Pena of Crash), an Iraq War veteran. Vic confronts Shane about his possible connection to Antwon (Anthony Anderson), which Shane denies. But Vic still has his suspicions. Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) and Vic consider joining a class-action suit against a vaccine company. Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) bring in a prostitute (Donna Cooper) who's been raped, and Aceveda, still struggling with his own personal trauma, takes a special interest in the case. This episode also includes an uncredited appearance by Katey Sagal as Nancy Gilroy. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

She puts Vic (Michael Chiklis) in charge of all gang-related felonies. Units working under Vic are assigned to take Polaroids of all gang members, and their ink, in order to build a database. Vic now knows that Shane (Walton Goggins) and his partner, Army (Michael Pena), are working with Antwon (Anthony Anderson), and he lets Lem (Kenny Johnson) and Ronnie (David Rees Snell) know. Vic says they should keep Shane close and keep IAD off him, or it will come back to them. There's a gang war erupting in Farmington, and Monica wants it headed off quickly. Vic reluctantly goes to Antwon for help in stopping the violence between the One-Niners and the Spookstreet Soldiers. Choppa (Six Reasons), a drive-by suspect from the Soldiers, is brought in for questioning. He doesn't want to talk, so Monica threatens to seize his mother's house, which he paid for with drug money. She feels conflicted about throwing the family out on the street. When Choppa turns out to have made a pornographic rap video with Bounce (Tanya Alexander), the girlfriend of Puppethead (Kamil Beale), a member of the One-Niners, Vic thinks he's found what initiated the escalating gang violence, and reluctantly turns to Antwon for help in stopping it. Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) are still being blackballed by the DA, so they're assigned to catch a convenience store robber who buys a hot cup of coffee then throws it in the clerk's face.
