This product is amazing. I love watching my home cable tv on my cell phone, laptop, and iPad when traveling. The only problem is buffering which happens often depending on the strength of my wifi or cellular signal reception. Best buy geek squad did a good job with home installation which seem impossible to figure out.- I use it in... : Small home

Watch your home TV worldwide5

If you have a second home, vacation home, etc. no need to have Cable or satellite there! If you travel a lot and want to see your favorite shows from your DVR or live - this is what you need. It is amazing. It is difficult to fast forward through commercials - but with practice I think that I will get better at that! If someone will be at home watching the TV you have your Sling Box hooked up to -you will have to fight over the remote. You can use Sling Box to watch your TV on other devises - all you need is the app!- I use it in... : Large home

can't use wifi setup unless you have an hdtv4

I have an old non HD tv that still works great. when I bought the slingplayer, they don't make it clear you need an HDTV to use wifi setup until you read the quick set up instructions. Fortunately, I used a netgear 500 series powerline adapter to get an ethernet input into the box. Then you can set it up using a laptop on the network through a browser. They say the slingplayer video app isn't compatible with vista, but I used the chrome browser with vista and had no problem.- I use it in... : Large home

This is an awesome unit. I'm far from home on work assignments and it's absolutely great to be able to watch either live tv or dvr recordings on my laptop, tablet, or phone. The wireless feature removes the requirement to have ethernet and the dvr in close proximity to each other.2 out of 2 found this review helpful.

Love My New Slingbox 5005

I am a long time Slingbox owner (since ~2005) to watch my Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and other favorite TV shows while on travel. Each upgrade 2008 and now in 2013 has be outstanding. The rock solid engineering and its consist reliability of this product is one of its greatest strengths. It is relatively easy to install but some basic AV understanding is helpful but not necessary. Use of the Slinbox from a laptop, computer, or mobile device is simple, the online login makes connecting the Slingbox even simpler despite a web browser add-on. The new Sling Projector has possibilities but the software maturity needs improvement on the client side. Browsing to desired storage locations for streaming media is somewhat difficult or impossible as with an Android device with an SD card containing media. The addition of an open DNLA capability would have been a natural feature which does not appear to be available. This by no means should deter anyone from this device unless DNLA or Sling Projector is of primary concern. Overall the Slingbox is an excellent device and always sparks a conversation with friends and family when I pull up live TV on my mobile device or laptop.- I use it in... : Small home
