Release Notes

Songs from the Sparkle Lounge: Release Notes: Muze
Def Leppard: Joe Elliot (vocals); Phil Collen, Vivian Campbell (guitar); Rick Savage (bass guitar); Rick Allen (drums).More than 30 years after the English quintet's inception, Def Leppard have survived and thrived while many of their pop-metal contemporaries have stumbled into obscurity or gone on dubious reunion tours. SONGS FROM THE SPARKLE LOUNGE marks a long-awaited return to the catchy yet edgy hard rock perfected on their career-defining landmark full-length, HYSTERIA (1987). While the band's most successful works were crafted under the strict mentorship of producer Jeff "Mutt" Lange, SPARKLE LOUNGE is a DIY affair, with co-production assistance from live sound engineer Ronan McHugh. First single "Nine Lives" includes a Def Leppard first: guest lead vocals by well-known country singer Tim McGraw. "C'Mon C'Mon" has the stacked background vocals and glam rock swagger that is part and parcel of the group's weathered arsenal. "Tomorrow" packs the kind of stick-to-your-ribs, harmony-laden chorus that is both familiar and fresh. Def Lep in 2008 maintain a contemporary sensibility, yet remain true to their roots.

AWSOME!!!

Posted by: from on 05/15/2008I am a total Def Leppard fanatic, so I was trilled with the release of a new album! If you are scared to buy this album because Leppard was famous for their old stuff don't be, it is totally great!!! The only thing that could have made this album better is if Steve Clark were still alive and played on the album with them in their original fourm. I would have liked "Nine Lives" Better with just the Leppard boys and no McGraw though. If you are thinking about this album...BUY IT! You won't be sorry you did! It's great. From all true Def Leppard fans, Steve Clark we love and miss you greatly!!! R.I.P. buddy...ROCK ON STEVE!

The boys are back

Posted by: from on 05/04/2008Don't let the cheesy Sgt. Pepper ripoff cover put you off. If you like Def Leppard, you will like this album. If you don't like them, then nothing I can say will change that. The boys may not be as hungry, but they still know how to rock and have a good time. Four original members from Pyromania of twenty five years ago, and not many bands can say that. If you have to stay up and don't drink coffee, put this on. A worthy effort. Thanks boys!

Best since Adrenalize!

Posted by: from Boynton Beach, FL on 05/03/2008Def Leppard's latest CD is great. It is the best since Adrenalize, in my opinion. The drumming is fantastic, Rick Allen really shines on this album. The first song, Go, is the heaviest tune Lep has recorded to date, which will please the headbangers. My other faves include Nine Lives, Only The Good Die Young, and Come Undone. Check it out!!

Still putting out quality music

Posted by: from Rochester, NY on 04/26/2008Having had the honor of hearing some tracks before the cd was actually released, I have to say, after 20+ years, they are still putting out quality music. And teaming with Tim McGraw on "Nine Lives", well, I couldn't think of a more perfect artist for them to team with on that song. Def Leppard is one of those bands that has lasting power, that's for sure. I highly recommend picking this up when it's released, as well as any of their previous works.

Kerrang (Magazine) (p.46) - "[A] sturdy-as-steel return, big chopping guitars and massed harmonies, all peppered with the British superstars' juvenile jollity and flashes of retro heritage."
