Great game for kids

Posted by: from Evanston, Il on 04/22/2013My son loves Sonic. This game is right in his age group! He does not have to play a game with blood and battle fields in order to have fun! This game entertains him for a while! :)

A platforming mess

Posted by: from Oregon on 12/09/2012Truthfully, the console versions of Sonic Generations were all-around decent games. It's what anyone would expect from a home-console based game since consoles are much more powerful. But the 3DS sytem is also very capable as far as handhelds are concerned. Yet, as you play through this game you'll wonder, why is it drenched in mediocrity? Firstly, let's speak on gameplay. The level design is nothing more than sloppy, at its' greatest it's only good. The gameplay mechanics, feel like a Sonic game, obviously, that means the jumping is slow, floaty, and incompetent for precision based platforming. The boss battles are dull. The 3D effect is never used to the game's advantage. The level design is flawed, when running at full speed, you only have a few seconds to spot potential hazards, such as cheap bottom-less pits, obstacles, enemies, etc. The Sonic Rush games were much more enjoyable. The nostalgic soundtrack helps to make the experience less stressfull. But only for a short while, since the game is also extremely short. I passed the entire game in 5 hours, while other 3DS games have taken up to 20-30 hours to complete once. There are several other details I probably missed but there is just so much wrong that I cant even remember it all. A word of advice, unless you are a militant Sonic fan, there is not much fun to be had here.

Fun Fast Paced Platforming

Posted by: from Baltimore, MD on 01/15/2012This game is great for all ages but can be very challenging to achieve high class status. Its features classic sonic for gamers that grew up in the 90's and new age sonic for the next generation. Bonus stages are similar to sonic 2 when you run in the tube to collect the chaos emeralds. The thing I thought was great about this game is as you advance classic sonic will learn new abilitys from todays sonic like the homing attack to help advance in the levels and get a better class ranking. This is a must have game for sonic fans. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

1 Game, 2 Sonics, all on 3DS!

Posted by: from Missouri, KC on 01/09/2012When I heard that Sonic Generations wasn't going to be on Wii, I kinda got a let down, but when I heard it was coming to the 3DS, I cheered up a bit. Sonic Generations, even on the 3DS is everything that was Sonic and is Sonic. Classic Sonic plays like the good ol' Genesis days, and later in the game Classic Sonic learns the Homing Attack, a move Sonic learns in Sonic Adventure, so Classic Sonic gets a little modern abilities that actually makes some of the old levels a piece of cake. Modern Sonic plays more like the Sonic games from Sonic Rush, though he does learn the ground slam which was introduced in the Console Sonic games, but the game play feels more like Sonic Rush then any other title for Modern Sonic. Of coarse being a Sonic Game, let alone a Sonic Game that's based on previous Sonic Titles, the music is always one of the best features of the Sonic Franchise so far, and the BGM is always enjoyable. Now is this game a perfect 3DS title and a must get? I'm afraid no, this game is not a must get on your 3DS. Compared to the home console version, Sonic Generations is lacking in levels, I'm pretty disappointed, especially on how short the game really is. I won't lie this game can be beaten in less that 2 hours. I love Sonic, I love the speed fast pace, but this game, just feels rushed. I can understand that the 3DS wasn't doing good in the beginning, but the game is really short and I was kind of expecting more. I really do believe Sega could of put more than what they did on the 3DS version. The missions is a good addition, so is the Online multiplayer, but one act per each Sonic on each level can make the game feel short. Also the Boss levels the way it's designed makes the game feel shorter. There's 6 bosses in the game, not counting the final boss at the end of the game. 3 bosses are racing bosses, Metal Sonic, Shadow, and Silver. The other 3 bosses are ones you have to defeat in battle, Big Arm, Biolizard, and Egg Emperor. Each boss level gives you one race and one fight. In the old Sonic games we'd face a boss after each level or world, not in Sonic Generations. This game like I said, is not an instant buy, I highly recommend you research Sonic Generations on the 3DS before purchasing this game, it is very possible that whatever you was expecting will probably not be on there and you could get upset. Example of this, City Escape is not in the 3DS version, instead it is replaced by Radical Highway. A lot of people I know who bought the 3DS version was expecting City Escape and were disappointed to find out that it wasn't in the 3DS version, just Radical Highway. This game is good, but not a must buy, I don't even really recommend this title, but if you're thinking on buying this game, research what the game has to be sure you know what you're buying, if you don't you may regret it.

Great game for ANY gamer!

Posted by: from on 11/06/2011This game has great graphics for a handheld system. The music is loud and fits the levels perfectlly. The details in this gamevare like no other, you can actually see Sonics quills moving in the wind. Or his chest moving up and down when hes tired! The game also starts off with 1 of tthe most notorious boss and level from Sonic history...which is green hill and bbig arm boss. This game is nothing but awesome fast fun!
