Moved up from a Sony 7 inch, and the 2 inches is a big improvement. Picture quality is great,but the on board speaker system could use a tweak. Trebles are reproduced staisfactorily but the bass tones could use some improvement.I use headphones anyway, so maybe I'm jaded.I've seen complaints regarding cheap feel of casing, but the lighter plastic cuts the weight,not the quality. Surprisingly, this unit fits in the same case as my 7 inch,so I saved money.The only other improvement I would suggest would be to design a better grip for opening the clamshell type casing.The shallow Vee notch,which runs the length of the front cover, may fit smaller fingers,but mine occasionally slip.After more use the hinges may loosen up, making opening easier but for now it's new design or new fingers, It's not a deal breaker, just a peev of mine.3 out of 3 found this review helpful.

Purchased this for my mother-in-law for Christmas/Birthday gift. She loves it! The thought ~ she doesn't read books often, and of course not into "major" technology. Instead of grabbing a book this goes with her on vacation, she takes it out at night when she can't sleep and to medical appointments to pass the time while in the waiting room. She keeps it by the couch and turns on a movie when sports shows are on. I also think my father-in-law will use it, if he can, while undergoing chemotherapy treatments.8 out of 8 found this review helpful.

I was deciding between this one and the 9 inch Phillips one. I went to the store to compare the picture on the two players and decided that this Sony one had a more crisp and vibrant picture. It's a great little dvd player. I plug it into the car stereo so we have sound from the car speakers instead of the dvd player itself, so it's nice and loud. Screen is a good size. Picture is good. You can still see the picture in sunlight which is important. I've only had it for a couple weeks, but I've used it a few times on the trips I've taken since then, and it was easy to use and I didn't have any problem with it.9 out of 9 found this review helpful.

A longer cord would be nice. You really have to be close to an outlet if the charge runs out and you need to go to regular power. I've had a Sony in the past that had a super long cord.3 out of 3 found this review helpful.
