I purchased it for the price figuring how bad could it be. As it is today's technology it has to be better than my older cameras. Not so. Really poor video and still quality. I returned it the next day, paid $100 more and got the HDRCX190 and other than it not having a touch screen - it is GREAT!0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

I needed a camera to show vignettes from my work. The salespeople at Best Buy said they had nothing that would pick up conversations from 15 feet away. I bought this hoping they were wrong, and indeed they were. It picks up audio very clearly from 15 feet and the picture quality is great. My only complaint is the book is hard to understand, but with some playing around with the camera I was able to use it just as I wanted to. The internal memory is good for about six hours of recording time. Putting the videos on the computer and editing them is a bit complicated, but not beyond the average user. I heartily recommend it. It seems tiny but functions just as I would want it to.3 out of 3 found this review helpful.

Quality is satisfactory. Basic information about the camera very poor: on the website and in the provided pdf. (I think I finally figured out that the memory IS NOT a hard drive but imbedded memory) (I had all kind of "experts" inform me that the camera had a harddrive). Simple information about memory requirements: VERY CONFUSING, especially on the SONY site.
I initially tried the default Windows program. Windows XP treated it like I was trying to edit or work with "Lord of the Rings". It treated stuff I shot as copyrighted. I then tried the Nero which came with my Sony DVD player / recorder. It was difficult to work with. I would definately consider buying a different brand!3 out of 4 found this review helpful.

This camera takes good video under ideal conditions. Definitely use a tripod to reduce image shake. I was disappointed at how bad the image degrades with low light levels. I found that if there is a smudge on the lens this camera will not focus correctly. It will continually try to focus and ruin your shot2 out of 4 found this review helpful.

It has great imaging and easy to use. Instrutions to operate are clear and easy to follow.
I dont't like that the battery does not last long. I will need to buy a supplementary battery for long recordings (such as birthday parties, etc)2 out of 2 found this review helpful.

We purchased this camera shortly after the birth of our first baby. We have had the camera for about a month now and we LOVE it!! There is no blur from unsteady hands, the zoom feature is smooth, sound quality is really good, and it is really easy to hook up to the TV. It was an easy set up also, pulled it out of the box and used it almost immediately! The photo feature takes really clear pictures and the camera is lite but does not feel cheap.......Great camera!12 out of 12 found this review helpful.

using the menu on a small touch screen is a pain. it is good if you have small fingers. the size of the unit is not necessarily a plus. You will need a good movie editor because each scene transfers separately.1 out of 2 found this review helpful.

My husband and I bought this camcorder not only because of the price but because it had features that we were looking for, such as an embedded light. We thought this was a great deal for a good camcorder, wrong!! This camcorder is very easy to use and the directions are easy to understand, and you think it's going to be great until you start to use it. The videos look good when filming them in the right light, even though there is a light on the camcorder you have to be in the right light. When uploading them to the computer they are grainy. The pictures that you can take from the video or just by themselves are VERY grainy. They even appear grainy on the LCD screen when reviewing them. So, what you see is what you get when you upload. I was VERY disappointed with this camcorder. I am having to gather photos of my sons first birthday from friends and family because mine are un-usable that I took with this camera. I took it back, paid $100 more for a canon and am completely happy with the camera and the quality of the movies and pictures that it takes!!5 out of 10 found this review helpful.

Have had this camera for only 8 months and it will not charge. sent it to Sony for repair, they told me nothing was wrong with it and sent it back.. still does not charge. even purchased a new charger and battery. Buyer beware!0 out of 2 found this review helpful.

After reading the reviews I didn't expect much from this camcorder. It was such a great package deal (case, camcorder, extra battery, memory card) on Black Friday, I decided to try it. I am pleasantly surprised. I have used it to video soccer games during the day and at night. I like it. Is stable, easy to use and works great to film day and evening soccer games. I have also used the camcorder inside and it works well. The light on the camera makes it easy to use in low light.
I have both desktop and laptop Macs. Easy to transfer video to both computers. I am in no way an expert, but the camera works for me.
