Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Party Favors
On his 15th birthday, Numerius (Lliam Powell) is given a special present---control over Batiatus' gladiators as though the patrician teen was their master. ~ Ray Stackhouse, Rovi

Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Mark of Brotherhood
After purchasing a new batch of slaves to train as gladiators, Batiatus considers the usefulness of the injured Crixus and contemplates whether to sell him. Meanwhile, Ilithyia continues her quest to get rid of Spartacus and tries to coerce one of the new recruits into doing away with the champion. ~ Ray Stackhouse, Rovi

Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Great and Unfortunate Things
Chafing under the pressure of Batiatus' tight-fisted control, Spartacus is thrust into yet another do-or-die situation as he is forced to put his past behind him and embrace his role as a champion gladiator. ~ Ray Stackhouse, Rovi

Spartacus: Blood and Sand: The Thing in the Pit
Spartacus' disgrace at surrendering to Crixus leads Batiatus to punish him by forcing the Thracian to fight mano a mano in the "pits of the underworld," a hellish, vicious subterranean arena where anything goes. Meanwhile, when the slave girl Naevia rejects Crixus' gift, he misunderstands the reason for her refusal. ~ Ray Stackhouse, Rovi

    Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Legends
As the gladiators prep for an important competition that will be the highlight of a festival, Spartacus cleverly maneuvers to secure the right to battle Crixus, the unbeaten champion of Capua, in the main event. Despite Lucretia's objections, Batiatus reminds her that Spartacus' bravery and previous exploits have "struck a chord with the public's interest." Meanwhile, Crixus is desired by a number of noblewomen, but he is enamored of one of Lucretia's slaves. ~ Ray Stackhouse, Rovi

Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Shadow Games
    No synopsis available.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Old Wounds
Spartacus mourns the death of his gladiator friend, and when it is declared that the magistrate is officially missing, his son Numerius and Batiatus initiate a search. ~ Ray Stackhouse, Rovi

Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Delicate Things
Lies, distrust and duplicity plague the house of Batiatus and impact the hopes of both Barca and Spartacus, who have benefited from good fortune and envision a future away from the grounds. Barca expects to buy his and his male lover's way out, while Spartacus anticipates his promised reunion with his enslaved wife, part of his reward for a monumental victory in the arena. But just in case things go wrong, Spartacus dreams and schemes an escape plan. ~ Ray Stackhouse, Rovi

Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Sacramentum Gladiatorum
Enslaved Spartacus is entered into a gladiator school. While there, he makes an enemy of the powerful and ruthless Crixus and gets whipped into fighting shape by the whip-wielding taskmaster Doctore. And Spartacus' new owner, the crafty Batiatus, makes him an offer he finds difficult to refuse. ~ Ray Stackhouse, Rovi

Spartacus: Blood and Sand: The Red Serpent
In the premiere episode, Thracian warrior Spartacus (Andy Whitfield) and his fellow fighters align themselves with Rome to protect their homeland. But disenchantment with the Romans soon sets in when their allies' battle strategies leave their village unprotected from barbarian invaders. ~ Ray Stackhouse, Rovi

Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Kill Them All
In the first-season finale, Spartacus gears up his plan for revenge against Glaber, and receives support and assistance from a most unlikely ally. ~ Ray Stackhouse, Rovi

    Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Revelation
The impending arrival of Glaber sets multiple plans into action as Lucretia and Batiatus are intent on securing his patronage, while Spartacus puts in motion a plan of revenge against the man who was responsible for the death of his wife and his being sold, and trained as a gladiator. ~ Ray Stackhouse, Rovi

    Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Whore
Spartacus learns that Batiatus has promised Rome's richest woman sexual congress with the gladiator and whatever other duties she desires. ~ Ray Stackhouse, Rovi

Posted by: from Long, Island, NY on 01/12/2012If you loved the "Gladiator" movie, you will love this series. You will live the ups and downs of a gladiator. Feel his emotions. Deal with his battles, in and out of the arena. You won't want it to end. This is not for the squimish-lots of bloodshed, but done well.

Posted by: from Houston on 01/11/2012This is an awesome television show! The action is great and the acting is top-notch with superb dialogue. The fighting and passion on display will leave you awestruck. This is a quality show throughout and you will not regret for a second getting this DVD set. Andy Whitfield is incredible as Spartacus. His passing from his cancer took him from his fans much too soon. His acting talent was only matched by his bravery facing his cancer. My condolences to his family.
