The Streets of San Francisco: The Albatross
Stone (Karl Malden) and Keller (Michael Douglas) must prevent grieving father Robert Hobbs (Ed Nelson) from taking the law in his own hands. Hobbs' son was murdered by Artis Pierce (Kaz Garas), who unfortunately was released on a technicality. Now nothing can stop Hobbs from exacting his own brand of vengeance--and making himself a murderer in the process. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The Streets of San Francisco: Beyond Vengeance
Prolific character actor Joe Don Baker is evil incarnate in the role of Leonard Collier Cord, a convicted rapist, torturer and murderer. Paroled after twelve years, the unrepentant Cord vows to get even with Mike Stone (Karl Malden), the detective who sent up. With fiendish calculation, Cord decides to hit Stone where it will hurt the most--by killing Mike's daughter Jeannie (Darleen Carr). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The Streets of San Francisco: The Unicorn
Richard Egan guest stars as waterfront priest Father Joe Scarne, who hinders a robbery investigation by refusing to reveal the whereabouts of the main suspect to Stone (Karl Malden) and Keller (Michael Douglas). An essential ingredient to the outcome of the case is a stolen crate of cobra venom which, unbeknownst to the Law, actually contains heroin. Oh, and one more thing: Father Scarne is himself a reformed drug addict. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The Streets of San Francisco: Legion of the Lost

The Streets of San Francisco: The Shattered Image
Stone (Karl Malden) and Keller (Michael Douglas) investigate when a successful and universally admired politician dies in what appears to be an accident. As usual, Stone suspects foul play, and isn't afraid of ruffling a few feathers among the political elite to prove his point. The key to the solution of this case involves a complicated relationship among several prominent people with more than a few skeletons in their closets. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The Streets of San Francisco: The House on Hyde Street
A forbidding old mansion in a residential San Francisco neighborhood is the centerpiece of this grim story. When a young boy disappears, and is subsequently found dead, the neighbors suspect the mysterious recluse residing within the walls of the mansion. It is up to Stone (Karl Malden) and Keller (Michael Douglas) to bring the mansion's dark secrets to light--and to expose the facts behind the tragedy. The episode's formidable guest cast is headed by Hollywood veteran Lew Ayres, light-years removed from his amiable "Dr. Kildare" characterization. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The Streets of San Francisco: Trail of the Serpent
A vicious street gang robs a neighborhood store, kills a cop, and takes Detective Stone (Karl Malden). As the police surround the store, the thugs attempt to strike a bargain: They will let Stone go in exchange for the freedom of Buddy Sims (Cal Bellini), their imprisoned leader. This episode was directed by John Badham, whose subsequent film credits included Saturday Night Never, Blue Thunder and WarGames. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The Streets of San Francisco: A Room With a View
When one of the key witnesses in a mob trial is murdered, Stone intensifies his protection of sole remaining witness Roy Chaffee (Sandy Kenyon). Stone and Keller install Chaffee in a nondescript house across the street from the apartment of shy, spinsterish English teacher Mary Rae Dortmunder (Shirley Knight). At the same time, Mary Rae is being ardently courted by a kind, soft-spoken gentleman (Steve Forrest)--actually a contract killer who hopes to use the woman's living room as a stakeout, the better to murder the hapless Chaffee! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The Streets of San Francisco: Deadline
Barry Sullivan guest stars as Chris Bane, a famous and powerful San Francisco newspaper columnist. After murdering his mistress, Bane uses his journalistic skills to pin the killing on his rival. Complications ensue when it turns out that Chris' son Greg (Geoffrey Deuel) was likewise involved with the dead woman. Also in the cast are former Disney leading man Tommy Kirk (here billed as "Thomas") and future TV soap-opera doyenne Anna Lee. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The Streets of San Francisco: A Collection of Eagles
John Saxon and Joseph Cotten head the guest cast in this episode, wherein homicide detectives Stone (Karl Malden) and Keller (Michael Douglas) investigate an elaborate scam that has gone fatally awry. Unscrupulous coin dealer Vince Hagopian Jr. (Saxon) has arranged to purchase several valuable "gold eagles" from millionaire collector John R. James (Cotten). Though he is supposed to sell the coins on behalf of Mr. James, Hagopian has hatched scheming to double his earnings by substituting counterfeit coins--a scheme which obliges him to commit murder to cover his tracks. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The Streets of San Francisco: The Set-Up
Stuart Whitman guest stars as retired hit man Nick Carl, returning to San Francisco after a long sojourn in France. What Nick is unaware of is the fact that he has himself been targeted for a "hit" by his ex-boss Johnny Harmon (Jason Evers)--and that he is being surreptitiously set up for slaughter by his best friend Tim Murphy (Jack Albertson. Singer Claudine Longet makes a brief but compelling appearance as Nick's wife Michelle. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The Streets of San Francisco: Act of Duty
This 1973 episode features Brenda Vaccaro, the then girlfriend of series costar Michael Douglas (Steve Keller), as rookie SFPD officer Sherry Tate. When her roommate, likewise a cop, is murdered while tracking down an elusive rapist, Sherry volunteers to act as bait for the killer. Even after Stone (Michael Douglas) orders her off the case, Sherry persists in her efforts to nail the murderer all by herself--with shocking results. Intriguingly, this episode was directed by Lawrence Dobkin, who had played a demented serial killer in the two-hour Streets of San Francisco pilot film. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The Streets of San Francisco: Death Watch
Without taking anything away from series stars Karl Malden and Michael Douglas, it must be admitted that this episode is stolen hands-down by its formidable array of guest actors, headed by future Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven costar Victor French as ruthless alien smuggler Reggie Noris. Witnessing the latest unloading of Noris' "human cargo" are a pair of hapless fishermen, Joe Porturo (Nicholas Colasanto) and Lou Roselli (Anthony Caruso). Bullied into silence by Noris' goons (one of whom actually warns the pair that they may end up "sleeping with the fish"!), Joe and Lou refuse to cooperate with the police--leading to catastrophic consequences. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
