Synopsis

Synopsis
The long-awaited and much-anticipated next installment of the award-winning The Elder Scrolls franchise is here. Now, the expansive, open world that forever revolutionized the face of the fantasy epic leads you deeper into the combat, the magic and the myth than you've ever been before. This time, you don't just play as a character, you truly become whomever it is you wish to be — and have the freedom to do anything you can possibly imagine. This follow-up to the 2006 Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, offers stunning graphics and a gripping storyline that immerses you in the game from the moment you turn it on. Are you ready to unroll the Scroll and let the journey begin?

Imagine rolling clouds, rugged mountains, bustling cities, lush fields and crumbling dungeons. Imagine ancient dragons beholding secrets so powerful they could transform your future. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim immerses you in the engrossing world of the franchise you already know and love with more realism, more choice and more intensity than ever before. Featuring a new game engine that brings every tiny environmental aspect to life in blistering detail and AI that brings you close to your allies — and your enemies — Skyrim blurs the line between your world and that of the game. An all-new character engine opens wider an already vast virtual world, putting every decision, every action and every consequence entirely in your hands as you arm yourself with hundreds of new weapons, abilities and spells. Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, the creators of the 2008 Game of the Year, Fallout 3, this immaculate fifth chapter challenges your skills, immerses your mind and will forever change the way you view gaming. It's time to return. It's time for Skyrim.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Windows (50 out of 55)
Skyrim is a fantastic game, very open game play!

Posted by: from Panama City, FL on 06/16/2013Bethesda made Skyrim to allow for gamers to explore an immense fantasy world freely. In this they succeeded quite nicely. But they also designed the game to be modified with game mods for those who love modding. Once someone begins to learn that it's not that difficult to mod a game like Skyrim, the replay value becomes almost infinite because you can use different mods for different builds and so your game experience can change how you want it to depending on which mods you plug into it. Another great game built for modding! Now, just add alternate endings and the game's replay value would be practically endless.

Posted by: from Houston, Tx on 04/15/2013Awesome game! hours and hours into it, still loving it. Plays using STEAM but that too is a nice things since if I lose my disk, I can re-download it. Graphics are jaw dropping. Using a nVidia 560Ti and zero issues. I would get a newer card, but I got an arrow in the knee.

So far so Great

Posted by: from Oregon on 07/05/2012I really haven't played an open world type game in a number of years. Skyrim is a beautiful game, the world is simply amazing. I wish the character models had a little more finesse and beauty to them, but they are adequate. If you hate being pigeon holed into a class, you'll enjoy the ability to level up any skill you want. There are some races better than others with skills, but you can buck the trend and be and be fine. Some of the lower points of the game include a slightly strange interface that was clearly made for the console. It's not glaring, but conversation and inventory selection with a mouse can be a miss. The horse system in the game was poorly thought out. And while I love dragons, it's pretty strange to see them materialize out of no where for some random event. For their next game, I hope they will consider a living eco system, including wolves that behave less like monsters. It's a great fantasy world full of crafting you don't have to do, spells and steel... skies the limit.
