The Prestige [Blu-ray] [2006]

Finally picked this up on 4K, and couldn’t be happier. Looks fantastic and enjoy the new color grading. Definitely prefer it over the Blu-ray.

It's great. The final act doesn't 100% live up to the premise for me, but the picture has atmosphere for days and it rewards repeat viewings. Many of Nolan's regular crew are on board, so the production design, acting and photography are top-shelf. The disc itself sounds great and looks exceptional to my eyes. I notice some anomalies in high contrast scenes that I'm pretty sure have everything to do with the excessive blooming on my tv which I need to remedy. If yours is HDR capable and does blacks well, you should be in for a treat.

IMO Christopher Nolan is such a visionary Director and all of his films are amazing. The Prestige is a personal favorite and I've been slowly upgrading all his films to 4K. As always, Best Buy has great prices with their offerings (steelbooks especially) as well as quick shipping. I recommend this film to anyone interested in thorough and deep thought. Pay attention and in the end things click and you're sitting their saying OMG.

Even though I owned a (VERY) old copy of this movie on Blu-Ray, it is one of my favorite Nolan movies: not perfect, but quite solid and fascinating. While I had not rewatched it in a while, the 4K remaster is very impressive; the picture and sound are top-notch. Worth shelling out the big bucks, especially since any other copies of the movie are hard to find (outside of the Bluray and digital that come with this).
