    Great Tivo!!

Posted by: from Long Beach, C on 03/29/2013Upgraded from standard Tivo to Premier XL. 4 tuners and HUGE hard drive make this an awesome addition to our home entertainment center.

TiVo really does change the way you watch TV
    5
Posted by: from San Jose, CA on 03/14/2013Overall, I believe this was a great purchase. The fee is questionable, but necessary to use the device. I've been too busy to figure out how to stop TiVo from changing tuners for a recording. It does ask for permission before it changes tuners. At this point, I have been just telling it to not change. The picture quality is great and the sound quality is great. The interface is easy to use. However, with Comcast, the On Demand application gives errors and it takes a couple of tries to get the video to start.

    Tivo Does it Agian
    5
Posted by: from Marshall on 02/28/2013I received my Tivo XL4 as a gift about a month ago. I had been using a series 1 Tivo for the last 12 years and loved it. But its usefulness has been declining with the digital cable. I love the 4 tuners and I paired it with a slingbox so I can watch it anywhere.

Expensive with horrible support (bugs, ads)
    1
Posted by: from Pleasanton, CA on 02/27/2013Loved the demo in the store. Features and interface were quite good. So good I bought two. After two weeks both units froze up solid with no recourse but unplug. Found on forums that this is a common bug that Tivo has ignored FOR YEARS! To ad insult to injury, Tivo places ads (like for Bounty) all over the user interface -- so we get ads from a service we're paying $27/month and we get cheeseball ads? Will go back to Comcast.

Posted by: from Cincinnati, OH on 12/17/2012I purchased an earlier model and purchased the lifetime service being told it could be transfered to a different machine once. It does not. Do not buy.

    Tivo is the best

Posted by: from Detroit MI on 12/16/2012The best just keeps getting better, this is my third TiVo and set up was a on the network quick and easy. First cost is somewhat high with the cost of the unit and service but with life time it works out in the long run.

Great product-much more enjoyable to watch TV!

Posted by: from Carlsbad, CA on 12/07/2012This is my fourth TIVO. Each generation is an improvement on the prior. Love the additional recording time-no danger of running out of room. Easy to operate. No comparison to the cable company dvr-TIVO operation is simple!

A bit of stumble for Tivo
    3
Posted by: from Austin, TX on 12/04/2012TiVo is known for its ease of use, but this model is a step backwards. While 300 hours of HD programming is impressive, the menus are slow, ugly, and sometimes totally unresponsive. The system feels and looks more like a cable/satellite DVR rather than TiVo. I was also a bit disappointed that the system didn't come with built-in wireless or the the feature-friendly TiVo slide remote. I would not replace my older HD XL with this one if it hadn't failed.

Best DVR I have ever used.
    5
Posted by: from Peoria, AZ on 11/26/2012I replaced 2 Cox DVR's with 2 TIVO Premiere XL4's. The TIVO's allow you to record 4 programs at one time. Expect to spend a few hours setting up the TIVO's. I installed the M-CableCards myself. You must have a TIVO Turner Adapter, also. The people at TIVO & Cox were very helpful and friendly. The only bad thing about the TIVO is that you cannot watch a program from one TIVO to another TIVO without transfer it first. Also, a lot of programs are copyrighted & cannot be transferred. I have 3 TIVO's on 3 HD TV's & I am very happy.
