Nice price for all of the features

The only problem has been with indications of either bad DVDs or possible problems with the unit.
For 3 new DVDs, I received a recording error but only after recording for 2 hours. The message did not appear until playback. Wasted lots of time.

The instruction book is better than most-no really weird English (except to do something "thrice") Annoyances like no cable connection-you have to use composite or component input cables, no eject button for vhs,though there is one for dvd. You have to rely on the remote. I have not been able to stop a programmed recording until the time is finished. That said it works OK. I'm not very demanding about quality-it seems to transmit a good picture to me. It dubs accurately with not too much manipulation. Edits about as well as my previous machine. Since this is the only new combo recorder I've been able to find,,I'd recommend it-I haven't anything to compare it with.

Bad, Bad customer service

talk or understand my problem. I gave up and returned the product to Best Buy and purchased a competitors product from a competitors store.
If the player/recorder needs a tuner to work, spell it out in your ads and at the least, in large type on the box.

Posted by: AmarilloGary from Amarillo, TX on 03/29/2013Without an RF coax input or output, it doesn't hookup to older TV's very well. It does hookup to newer sets easily. Someone said it didn't hookup to record from Direct TV - It does, and it's very simple (Component Out from Direct TV to L1 Component In on the DVR --- select Input = L1 for the DVR to see the signal). The DVR doesn't have a built in tuner. It expects to get any signals from a cable box or satellite box. You can record TV programs by using the built in recording timer, you just have to have the cable/satellite box on and set to the channel you want to record.
