Posted by: GodsonJunBug from Jamaica, ny on 01/26/2013It is a nice set, Good collectors item, It colorful and well crafted but i don't like the fact that Nintendo allowed Lugi and Bowser Jr to be the queen pieces and the pawns are coins and turtle shells. I would make Princess Peach and female bowser of some sort for queens and Goomba and toad for pawns. But good chess set over all

Great for anyone who loves chess or Mario Brothers

Posted by: GranMaPam from Northeast on 03/21/2012I bought this as a gift, so I did not open it all of the way to see the actual chessboard and all of the pieces, but the tin and the presentation will be a great gift for my grandson who I hope will be inspired to play chess because of his love for the Mario Brothers. If you wanted to you could use the chess pieces on the top of a birthday cake for a theme birthday party. I am very pleased with the quality of the set from what I can see of it without opening it all of the way.
