That sense of raw energy and playfulness abounds on its 2008 debut, UNDERDOG ALMA MATER. The Orlando, Florida based six-piece peppers its fast-paced emo-flecked power pop with spiraling keyboards and sing-a-long choruses for a sort of 80s grandeur. Frontman Jonathan Cook's vocals lilt longingly a la Pete Wentz whether flailing against disparity on "Whoa Oh!" or poetically recalling a long-ago friend on "Hey Brittany."

Posted by: from Hauppauge, NY on 11/26/2008Forever the Sickest Kids compile a fantastic sound and great group of songs in "Underdog Alma Mater". From the first song "Whoa (Me vs. Everyone)" to the last "Catastrophe" the CD does a good job of making each song unique but good. Not every song is a top ten single but no song is a *Ugh* song (you know the songs that make you scratch your head as to why this was made). I bought the CD for "Whoa (Me vs. Everyone)" which was the first track and set the tone for a wonderful compilation. It's capped off with "Catastrophe" which is another great track.

Next Big Thing

Posted by: from Ham Lake, MN on 06/30/2008Forever the Sickest Kids are an awesome new band from Texas. They formed a little over a year ago, and were signed to Universal Records after a mere few months. The band has already established a trademark style, seamlessly fusing white-hot guitar work with keyboards, retro-techno drum beats, massive hooks, and soaring vocals. "Underdog Alma Mater" is their first full-length album, and it doesn't disappoint. For one thing, the record SOUNDS spectacular, thanks to megaproducer Matt Squire's expert touch. The band mainly just sticks to their formula, and it works - Underdog Alma Mater is a sugar-high, supercharged romp from beginning to end.

Posted by: from Columbus, OH on 04/27/2008Forever The Sickest Kids was a great in concert experience and the songs off of their newest album blew me away. Their hit single "Woah Oh!" is an amazing song and the band plays it beautifully in concert. The entire band is made up of amazing musicians and are a great addition to the alternative/rock universe that is my life. I can only imagine anyone who loves rock or alternative will in the very least like this band, if not fall in love with them. Their fresh sound and enchanting lyrics are a great example of our generation of musicians.
