Posted by: DanVoils from Indianapolis, IN on 04/16/2013I needed to store a bunch of photographs and this is the perfect size. I shouldn't have to update the drive for years to come. Easy to install and setup. No problems or concerns with the installation or use.

Posted by: Jon00000 from Chico, Ca on 04/13/2013Great hard drive if your primary use is for storing files or back ups. I would not use this as a main drive as it is only operates at 5400 RPM.

Excellent Drive

Posted by: TrainsTH from St. Peters, MO on 03/24/2013Bought this drive to replace my old 1 TB external back up drive. I was very surprised at how cool and quiet this thing is! My old drive made a lot of noise and was one hot sucker. Very pleased with this drive and would recommend it to anyone looking for a secondary drive, or backup drive. Can't speak at how it would do as a primary hard drive but as back up or secondary drive it is top notch!

Disappointed

Posted by: BubblyFlaka051489 from Wilkes Barre, PA on 03/11/2013I installed this into my computer and it would only display approx. 1/4 of the actual drive size. After playing with it for an hour I was able to display the correct size but returned it as I was not happy with everything that I had to do to get it to work correctly.

Relatively inexpensive for lots of storage

Posted by: ThreePalms from Bellingham, WA on 03/03/2013I needed an large drive to back up my home server and this one fit the bill quite nicely. It took about 15 minutes to install it, and the system recognized it on the first boot. It has been running silently and efficiently ever since without a single issue. Good value for the money, although prices on storage are continuing to drop rapidly.

Took a lot of effort to get PC to accept 3TB drive

Posted by: ScottB12345 from Florida on 02/22/2013Bought this drive for my living room media center PC, which is dual booted with a factory installed Win7 home premium 64 bit and Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit. Installed drive and Windows only recognized it as a 764 GB drive, while Ubuntu saw it at its correct size and was able to format it and write to it. Updated all drivers to the newest correct available, to no avail. Brought it back to BB, the Geek Squad guy was able to see and format it correctly on a Win computer. Brought it home and plugged it back in and this time it showed up in my computer as a 3TB. Thinking that the problem was solved, I started transferring movies from the 1TB drive that was being replaced. Got to a certain point and the computer froze up. Transferred the rest of the movies using Ubuntu without any issues, but when trying to access the files in Windows that had been copied on Ubuntu, the computer would freeze and require a hard shutdown. Ended up using newer Nvidia SATA drivers that were not the recommended ones for my MoBo. Drive works great since that point.
