Good entry level gas range
3
Posted by: from Weirton, WV on 07/14/2011It is a good entry level gas range with some nice features (griddle and stainless steel finish). However, theer are a few "little" items that I think could be better. 1) You can see insulation through the vents in the door on the oven. Not a big deal, but when you get a nice looking stainless steel range, you would like the little things to look nice too. 2) The burners sometimes will not light on the first try. I have to play with the loose diffuser on the top and then they will light. 3) Being it is a new product, one would think that it would not put off as much heat when you use the oven, but it does. Overall, not a bad product, but not a good one either. It will do what you want it to, but if you put in a little more money, I think you will get a little better product.

Burners are very poor
1
Posted by: from Racine, WI on 02/04/2011Thought we were getting a good item being a whirlpool. What a joke - it took 30 minutes to cook a pan of bacon. The looks are nice but the grates are to high for the stove to be efficent. We took ours back for something differant. Horrible Horrible Horrible

No Power
2
Posted by: from Detroit on 12/27/2010Had no idea this thing was so underpowered. 8000btu is about half of what everyone else was selling. If I wasnt so caught up in the looks and price, I never would have purchased.

DON'T BUY THIS OVEN
1
Posted by: from Illinois on 07/14/2010I checked the ratings before we purchased. Since the overall rating was over 3 stars, we thought it would be good. This oven was on sale and my son (who likes to cook) thought the griddle would be great. It's not! The griddle is beveled up on the cook surface, the edges should be beveled up! He went to make an egg, which on a normal flat surface will stay, on this it rolled right off. This was not the biggest problem. Only one side is power burner, if you want to boil two things using the back burners, which is what I do because I have small children, the right side won't boil only simmer! This stinks! Also, you can't fit to two frying pans on the same side, there isn't enough room and the front pan hangs over the edge. The handles heat up terrible because of the funky high double grates. We did not buy the self-cleaning oven because it did not have the griddle, but the griddle is basically useless and can only cook grilled cheese sandwhich on it. You can't grill veggies, which is why we wanted it because of the way the griddle bevels up on the cooking surface. Stay far, far away from this stove!!

Underwhelmed with performance
2
Posted by: from Virginia Beach, VA on 07/05/2010The stove looks great. However, the burners max at at 8,000 BTU on the "power burner". The others are 7,000. Takes over 30 minutes for a pot of water to boil for pasta. Then, it never reaches a rolling boil. Also, I was expecting a gas burner to be highly adjustable. The flame height barely adjusts as you turn the knob down. Rather than a steady adjustment from high to low, it seems to step down across 4 heights. Even then, it is almost indistinguishable. I don't care for the broiler either. Hard to move it from below the oven. Had it inspected by the repair guy and he said it is what it is. This one's going back to the store. Going to upgrade to a different model.

Invest in a better one
2
Posted by: from Suburban Philadelphia, PA on 06/07/2010I should have invested more money in a better range for the amount of time it's used. This looked good and I wanted a stainless steel look. But this is not a high quality range. The burners are so high it does take longer to cook, the boiler is so tippy, I spill juices all over and it is difficult to clean. Parts of the range which should be OK to touch during baking get so hot I have to keep my kids away. I would not buy this again and I regret I did.

Cheap Stove
1
Posted by: from CA on 06/04/2010I thought I was getting a great deal for the price: 5 burners, griddle, but so not true. The back of the stove (where oven controls are located) gets so hot you can't touch it (even when just using front burners). And, it is cheaply made--loose. The grates are uneven, and set way too high from the burners. So much for sealed burners-they are not. The griddle is teflon, not cast iron. Frying pans & larger sauce pans do not fit on back burners. If not for the power burner, it would take a long time to cook anything. Totally disappointed!

Happy with purchase

Posted by: from St. Louis, MO on 04/29/2010It looks great & performs very well, but the black stove top shows every little dirty spot. So you must clean it often to maintain the sharp look.

Love It! Looks like expensive models
5
Posted by: from Allen, TX on 12/03/2009This range looks a LOT more expensive than it was, mostly because of the cast iron burners. The cast iron looks way better than the normal steel. The fifth burner fills up the entire stove top and looks great. The only down side is that I had to call Best Buy to send me a new front upper pannel because the stainless finish was not consistent. As long as that comes in, this is a great buy!

Style, Function, Price
4
Posted by: from Dallas, Texas on 12/02/2009I purchased this range when I bought a old house and needed to replace the original cooktop that came with my 1964 house. This range looks and works great. The style is as good or better than more expensive ranges. The controls are appropriate and easy to operate. I wish it had a self-cleaning option. In addition, the middle burner is a little too narrow for preparing anything substantial. All things considered, this range is worth it's value.
