Great system for apartment

In the future I would like to upgrade my speakers to stand-alone sound quality. I'll still be able to use the receiver that comes with the home theater system to connect my upgraded speakers to, which is nice.

Great product for the price

The only thing it lacks that I felt I needed to make a supplemental purchase on was that it isn't Bluetooth ready. The next model up is about $200 more and has Bluetooth. However, you can purchase a $60 Rocketfish Bluetooth Receiver that cuts your cost of the upgrade.

Great value for the "average" home theater.

Posted by: MarkFromMA from Clinton, MA on 04/27/2013I didn't want to spend gobs of money on a surround sound system, but I wanted something that sounded decent and had a good "room-rumble" to it. This system met the requirements.
For around $400 on sale, I couldn't have bought the components separately for even close to that price. The powered sub makes the system! The sound - for me - is great! We mostly watch HD TV, but we do catch movies now and again and wanted to have a true "movie experience" when we did. I'm not disappointed with this system at all.
Setup was pretty straightforward. I did not use the built in configuration tool that uses a mic to balance the sound in the room. Only because I live in a condo and it claims in the instructions that the volume level has to be "loud" in order for the tool to work properly. We just moved in so I don't want to annoy my neighbors just yet ;o) . Plus, I didn't find I needed to use, the system sounds great as is.
I installed the surround speakers on speaker stands and the center channel on the wall just above my 60" TV. The sub is next to the TV/stand on the floor. Our family room is carpeted and is roughly 18'x15'.
Though I was budget conscious to begin with, I honestly feel spending more money for another system would have been money wasted since this system competes with anything else I've heard in any of my friends/relatives houses.

Excellent system

So far it has been excellent. Easy setup, I used HDMI from tv to receiver and used another HDMI from receiver to blu ray. Sound is amazing. I did however buy heavier guage and longer roll of wire to run out to speakers. The sub has to be manually turned on/off, but also has a seperate volume control on sub to adjust the bass. I think it is a very good system for the money.
