Yamaha - 575W 5.1-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver (16 out of 18)
Fits well in an iOS world...

Posted by: from Charleston, SC on 03/15/2013I was looking to replace a Denon integrated system with an AV receiver due to the lack of HDMI inputs. My short list came down to two AV receiver brands - Denon and Yamaha, from there it was became a matter of comparing features. So the short story is that this Yamaha had the best combination of features, with AirPlay and the iOS app being the most important. The other important items to compare, like specifications, were pretty close between the brands, so the end user features were what sold me.

A good upgrade, but fragile

Posted by: from Mountain VIew, CA on 02/15/2013Sounds great, especially with sub-woofer. After one week, TV displayed "pink-screen" when routing video through HDMI to TV HDMI output. BB replaced it right away, no questions, but tedious to set it up again. Remote control is busy, small buttons, steep learning curve.

Posted by: from burlington on 02/10/2013It made the set up take a longer period of time having to look up the set up instructions on line, but once you printed what you needed it took very little time.

Posted by: from San Diego, CA on 01/30/2013I love this reciever. It works great with my new TV. I only needed 5.1. The auto speaker setup was awesome. I found that I had been running one of the rear home theater speakers out of phase (wire reversed) for years. The setup found it.

Posted by: from Wichita, KS on 01/25/2013Hooked this up to my 70" Sharp Quattron and PS3. Gaming is booming now :). Have Klipsche Quintet and 10" woofer/speaker set up for 5.1. Lot of fun!

Posted by: from Topeka KS on 01/14/2013Yamaha has always been my first choice, the V473 continues that tradition. I bought this because in my HT all I wanted was 5.1, but I have high end speakers and this fit the bill with the high power it offers. Interfaces very well through TV and the On Screen Display. Set up menus were not easy to follow on the receiver display (expected on a one line readout). The same menus however display on the TV and are very easy to navigate. Crossover and speaker set up is a breeze! Remote and my universal remote, work nice and the unit is responsive even when not pointed directly at the unit which I love as my system is on a different wall than my TV and natural instinct it to point at the TV. My only wish would be a switched outlet on the back.......but I have no regrets. I think this is my 5th Yamaha. One I lost to a lightning strike and one I retired because it was old tech, no HDMI, optical etc... I have three in my home currently and will continue to buy Yamaha receivers in the future.
