Great sound for the price5

We bought this because we couldn't hear our new 60" Plasma. What a difference. We barely have to turn up the volume, even though we have our TV in a very large room. It's a really big improvement over flat screen speakers especially if you're looking to get good sound at a reasonable price. First Sound Bad after testing many5

I bought the YAS-101 a week ago after searching a few months for a quality sound bar that didn't cost much. I listened to some of the Polk Audio, Bose and Sony soundbars and decided to settle on the Yamaha.
The Yamaha came out with a beautiful design that doesn't clog up the wall or TV stand. The power is awesome, I wish it had a little more punch to it but it's understandable that you don't get that when you don't have an extra sub on the ground. The sub that is built in does well but if you're looking for deep bass when you're watching Transformers or anything like that then you need to connect an external sub to this. IMO the subs that come with soundbars these day as external devices are sub-par and you would be better off buying an additional sub anyways.
I think this will meet most people's expectations. I put this in a fairly large living room (20x25) and it bounces off thew walls just fine. It does reproduce the 7.1 sound fairly well in my home.6 out of 6 found this review helpful.

I bought the Yamaha soundbar to replace my sony home theater, which died. I have a 52" sony bravia LCD TV, 4 years old. I didn't want another home theater system because I always had the remote in my hand...turning down the volume for the action scenes and turning it up for dialogue scenes, very frustrating...This soundbar was made for my TV... Fits great, looks Great, sounds great..and good features for good price.6 out of 6 found this review helpful.

We were looking for a soundbar to enhance the sound of our tv. We did not want anything elaborate or complex. This fit the bill perfectly. Easy instal with everything needed in the box. Looks great - sounds great - just perfect for our needs. Got a reduced price for an open box with the same warranty as new - so it was less than $200. Couldn't be happier. Haven't figured out how to make it work from our tv remote, but that is ok.2 out of 2 found this review helpful.
