Easy to install, sounds very good, especially base5

Product sounds very good, especially the base. It was very easy to install. I wish they included a fiber optic audio cable. I contacted company and they told me that when you buy the product directly from them they do include the cable. However, if you buy it through a third party, such as Best Buy, you have to buy it separately. The only other problem is with the FIOS remote. The remote works fine with the product with all features except the "off" button. When you turn the product off it sometimes comes right back on. This is not a big problem because it turns itself off after about 10 minutes with no signal. I confirmed with the company that this is an issue.0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

This sound system blew me away I unable to listen to it in the store but after the associate talked it up I was willing to give it a try and let me tell you HOLY COW!! It sounds absolutely amazing surpassed expectations. Set up was a breeze with an optical cable which you have to buy an optical cable I bought the one below works great. Would recommend to anyone that wants a great sound without all the hassle of wiring surround sound.0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

Amazing Sound Bar System!5

I originally found ZVOX on the Best Buy website when I was researching sound bars. I spent a fair amount of time on the ZVOX website and read a number of the links to reviews. One of our local Portland OR Best Buy stores had the 580 Z-Base System set up in a Magnolia sound room. I ended up buying 2 of the 580 systems on the spot and then ordered an additional 555 system.
I have been a loyal Definitive Technology owner since they came out over 20 years ago. I was looking to greatly simplify a couple of our home theater systems. I looked at the new Definitive SoloCinema and the Bowers and Wilkins Panorama, both about $2000 sound bars. I listened to the ZVOX 580 and was sold. At $499 it's an amazing value. Strong, clear, powerful sound. Excellent bass that will rival a stand alone subwoofer. Extremely simple to hook up and use. A sturdy well made enclosure and I love that you can set the TV on top of it. I was struggling with where to put a large sound bar so it didn't look like an afterthought sitting awkwardly in front of the TV.
I ended up replacing 2 complete 5 speaker Definitive theater systems with ZVOX then added a 3rd to a new TV in our exercise room. Even ZVOX acknowledges that a single box system will not match the surround effects of a high quality 5.1 system. But if you are shopping for something in the sound bar space you can't go wrong with ZVOX. We couldn't be happier.1 out of 1 found this review helpful.

excellent "simple" speaker system for great TV5

This is an excellent "sound bar" solution to the audio question for those who do not want to wrestle with the complexities of a receiver, together with all of the other units that are needed to comprise a true "surround sound" setup. The sound definition/clarity and frequency range is excellent for a package of this modest size. It also has the advantage of the physical strength to hold the TV right on top of it, thus guaranteeing no blockage of IR TV remote instructions.0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

For enhanced voice sound it is GREAT!5

I have hearing loss. The TV sound was 'muddy' and I often could not understand what people were saying. I wanted a product that clarified voices. This one did the trick! The voices are brought tho the foreground and the background is reduced. It also gives you a great sound overall. Plenty of available volume - I use it at 11 and it is quite loud - and the unit goes all the way up to 24. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is having trouble hearing the TV!1 out of 1 found this review helpful.

Rich sound. very good in all respects. But its capacity for clarifying dialogue is impressive. No longer questions about "what did they say?" They have a way about bringing out the voice (and isn't that most important?) that is unequaled. The deep notes are ok, but not ideal. I bought a subwoofer which makes this system perfect.1 out of 1 found this review helpful.

Have done research for 6 months on sound bars, and kept coming back to this unit every time, research included price sound and preference, no it wont compare to a 5.1 system but is and will be as close to 5.1 you will get and still have a 2.1 system. Price $499.99, and it doesn't matter where you look online it is $499.99, Best Buy , Crutchfield, Zvox, ect. reg. price $599.00. I went with BB because I had some best-buy bucks to use. If you are buying a new T.V. and sound bar, just buy the TV and wait for your best buy bucks and then use them toward your sound bar, can be a big savings! Yes it is bulky, but needs to be for the better bass sound, the key preference that sold me was i need something simple for my wife to use and still get the bass I wanted, this unit was perfect, great sound, simple remote set up, turns off and on with TV and volume and mute works with Dish or tv remote, wife loves that feature, now system works as it was part of the TV, DE option, this allows more emphasis on dialog and less background noise, perfect for the wife, yes you will lose some bass but you will still get your bass for movie and the wife not asking "what did they say?" Best of both worlds, and when she not watching TV I simply turn off DE option and chose one of 3 preset surround sound settings or just add bass and treble with zvox remote and watch TV, Like the option for a extra sub woofer hook up, but I wont need it for now! You can see the lcd letters on the zvox from 20 feet away when choosing options to use. over all big bulky but worth the trade off for the sound! Is everything I was looking for in 1 unit in the $500.00 range!3 out of 3 found this review helpful.

Not worth the money. TV sound just as good.1

This was recommended as a great alternative to a surround sound system, for the money. Once installed I felt the sound was not even as good as the sound directly from the TV itself. If you are looking for better sound, do not purchase. Just use your TV or save up for a surround system. Definately not worth the money.0 out of 9 found this review helpful.

Hard not to Love it5

The ZVOX 580 lives up to its advertising. Sound Quality is truly very good. Setup was done in less than 10 minutes. Also was easily programmed to operate with a Harmony One that we use in the bedroom for this unit. Voice quality has improved dramatically over the speakers in the Panasonic Plasma. My wife typically watched part of a movie in the bedroom when doing the ironing and folding clothes. Now she is watching the whole movie, it is simply that much more engaging. Would have given it 5 stars across the board if it came in just a slightly smaller package.0 out of 0 found this review helpful.
