An overall enjoyable movie, but not too much groundbreaking here. Certainly not a big enough story to justify the "Extraordinary" title. Some borderline cliche elements (do we really need another steampunk story?) and predictable plot points made for a bit less wonder than the movie wants to evoke into its audience. And young kids won't find enough fun to hold their attention. There are certainly some fun elements and characters, but I would probably only highly recommend this to diehard animation enthusiasts. Not a bad movie at all, just not quite enough to prompt me to agree with the Fantastic moniker.

Ok, so I'm a sucker for animated revisionist historical cyberpunk scifi retrofuturistic family dramas with talking cats. But, who ISN'T these days??!!! There's a reason this film currently has a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. Everything about it simply works. Perhaps not for smaller children, as the plot is a little too complex, but this is the kind of animated film that every other animated film should aspire to be.

Awesome rendition of a very complicated story of alternate history. Please, please watch first in french with English subtitles...then watch with the English dub actor voices (they are all very good, but the french voice actors really sold it for me), it is totally worth watching twice in a row. To me French animation artists, in the last decade, have really set a standard of quality (and beauty!) that is very underrated.
