Surprisingly good! Posted by: from: Aurora, Il on I never heard of the book before the movie came out. When I saw the first poster for this movie in the lobby of the local theater, I thought this was a joke. When I took a closer look at the poster I noticed this is a Tim Burton film. Burton does have crazy ideas. I do not think I would have gone to this film if it was not done by him. I did not know what to expect because there were not many trailers available for this film either. I found out this was adapted from a book about a week before this was released to the theater so I did not read the book. Within the first five minutes of the film I knew from the style of film Burton did not direct this. I thought this was going to be a disappointment. It was not. What I liked most about the movie is it did not go between a drama and a quirky comedy. There were not any cute puns (which I absolutely hate) to change the tone of the story or the characters. The script stayed on track. Many critics blamed the movie for taking itself too seriously. I think it did the right thing. If it would have gone between drama and comedy it would have not had a purpose. This movie is fun despite the fact it is a drama. It tells the alternative story of Abraham Lincoln. I know there are not vampires and this movie was not attempting to convince people there are. It is clearly a piece of serious fiction like 'The DaVinci Code.' If people want an escape from reality with some fun storytelling and great action sequences this is a great movie to see!

An amazing twist on history Posted by: from: Brooklyn, NY on The Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is an amazing twist on history. It tells the Lincoln story, but from a vampire perspective. I think this will get the young kids attention and they'll learn something about history as well. Much more interesting to watch than the "Lincoln" movie.

Enjoyable popcorn flick Posted by: from: westerville, oh on Thoroughly enjoyable, not meant to be taken seriously ... fun ... exciting ... 3D effects are not impressive, but ... I like it for the added depth of the picture. Good acting with good costuming and elaborate sets.

Presidential vampire hunter Posted by: from: Clarksville, TN on Ended up having to buy a new 3D Blu-ray player to watch this because mine from last year won't play it :/ Samsung E5900 ftw... Like others, I was quite surprised by this movie. When I first heard about the movie I just rolled my eyes and passed it off as something absurd. However, it's actually a really good movie. Action from start to finish. Honest Abe lays a serious smackdown on vamps here. The movie takes you through all stages of Lincoln's life as a kid, young adult, and over the hill as he's in the White House. Think he was swinging that axe even better in his 50s than in his 20s! This was the first 3D movie I've watched at home and I was thoroughly impressed by the effects. Didn't get any headaches or anything. Loved seeing the heads go flying or the hanging blood splatter from an axe to the face. Extras are apparently on the Blu-ray disc, but I was too lazy to swap the disc out for it and put in some anime instead. And..."still a better love story than Twilight".

Great 3D, fair story line. Posted by: from: oceanside,ca. on Great 3D, no blurring. Story line is what it is but still decent. The CGI was fantasic. Well worth $20.

Weird Plot Posted by: from: West Fargo, ND on This was actually an all right movie, the plot was so outrageous that I wanted to see it to find out what the hell it was. Everything was good, axe handling was cool, the only thing that bothered me was how young and nievee they portrayed the younh Abe, thats just my opinion though.

Decent 3D movie Posted by: from: on Not the best acted or thoroughly Oscar worthy material, but decent entertainment for a 3D movie.

Shouldn't have waited this long to check it out! Posted by: from: THE FRONTIER, PA. on As someone who really doesn't care for vampire movies, I gave this movie a chance because of a memorable movie trailer and civil war period setting. I loved how this fictional tale is spun around much of Lincoln's early tragic childhood memories, to his adult courtship of Mary Todd and eventual ascent to the presidency where the fight to defeat the spread of vampires into the northern states becomes as important to him personally as are the issues of preserving the union and ending slavery. The story moves along very quickly without overdoing the vampire thing and should keep both fans of the genre plus period movie fans very pleased with the great cinematography and terrific ensemble cast. As a bonus, the blue ray set also is in 3D!
