Hardest Rocking KISS Solo Album Posted by: from: on Ace Frehley's solo KISS CD is a fun trip through 70's Hard Rock. Snowblind, Rip It Out and Ozone are Speedin' Back To My Baby rock and set up the one big hit from all 4 of the solo albums; New York Groove. Ace crystallizes NYC swagger with his take on New York Groove and make this album worth having based on this one song, but overall this is a solid effort and worth picking up.

The best album from one of the greatest guitarists Posted by: from: Ohio on Ace Frehley is probably considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and his contributions to KISS have become legendary. When KISS set out to make four solo albums, they were of course compared and rated upon release. The "shocker" of the bunch was Ace Frehley, who was using his vocal talents on only the second album ever, and eventually the album would sell more copies than the other three. The album is mostly hard rock with a slower instrumental song called "Fractured Mirror." The music is a little heavier than most of KISS's material, which isn't a bad thing, and Ace Frehley proves to be a great rock singer. The best tracks are probably "Rip it Out," Speedin' Back to My Baby," and the famous rendition of "New York Groove." If you're a KISS fan or just curious about Ace Frehley, I can almost guarantee Ace will become one of your new favorites. It's a very raw, no gimmicks, unadulterated rock album that deserves more attention.

Spectacular rippin' & groovin' solo effort here Posted by: from: Boynton Beach, FL on Many back in 1978 thought with the release of the four solo albums by the original members of KISS, that this was the beginning of the end to the group. Most did not realize that as far back as 1976 the members were under contract to produce the solos. All four albums were released on the same day, a feat that had not been done by active members of a group to that date. All four were certified platinum (1 million albums sold), with Ace's becoming the clear leader in album sales. Ace's cover of New York Groove was also the only single to top the Charts, hitting # 21. Over the years, Ace had been very reluctant to do any vocal work, so fans had no idea what his singing voice sounded like. This reluctance ended though with his writing of Shock Me, which appeared on the Love Gun album, and which proved Ace could hold his own vocally. With the release of Ace Frehley, fans were shown a side of the man they had never seen before. Great lyrics, awesome vocals and excellent guitar riffs. Over the years most fans have reported this is their favorite album of all the Ace Frehley / Frehley's Comet albums, and in my opinion, is a must have Classic. (Also suggest Ace's newest album - Anomaly).

Ace Frehley is a guitar legend, album is a Classic Posted by: from: Pennsylvania on "New York Groove" is the hit cover song that this album is famous for... the other 8 songs Rock Hard just fine! "Rip It Out" and "Speedin' Back To My Baby" kick start this Ace Frehley solo album perfectly. "Snow Blind" has always been another favorite of mine from this classic album. I always turn to this album for a more than frequent listen. Even after all of these years, the groove infested, Hard Rock songs that Ace Frehley delivered on this solo album, are as strong and cool sounding as they were back in 1978! This album also shows how great and cool of a singer Ace Frehley truly is, besides being a legendary Hard Rock/Heavy Metal guitarist. I strongly recommend this album to anyone interested in superb Classic Rock!

The best KISS solo album Posted by: from: on When all 4 members of KISS decided to release solo albums at the same time, only one of those albums was really worth listening to and that was Ace Frehley's. Ace had only made his vocal debut on the previous KISS album, Love Gun, with his song "Shock Me" and then he had the chance to really shine on his own solo album. while the other members experimented with some other forms of music from jazz to Disney tunes, Ace stayed true to rock 'n' roll and recorded an album that rivals even the greatest of KISS albums. "Rip It Up," "Snowblind," and "I'm in need of Love" are great songs as well as his cover of "New York Groove". This is deffinitely worth geting of you're a a fan of KISS and the Space Ace himself.

Ace's best work Posted by: from: on This is a great record. IMO, far superior to the other members' solo albums. Toi bad he wasn't more involved with song writing with Kiss. "Rip it out", and "Snowblind" are classic tunes!

Kiss Solo Album Posted by: from: West Coast on Original Kiss member Ace Frehley's solo album prior to leaving the band. Good but the other solo albums were better. OK to complete the collection.
