Mounting your TV We'll secure the customer-supplied (or manufacturer-included, if applicable) mounting bracket to a standard-frame wall, and mount and secure a flat-panel TV to the mounting bracket.
Running the cables We'll route your in-wall rated cables for A/V devices through a standard-frame wall (within a single stud bay) and connect the TV power cord to an existing, nonconcealed AC power outlet.
Professional look We'll ensure all wall-finished cable exit points are finished off with either a wall bushing or wall plate and make sure that all wires and cables are neatly dressed, and that wire ties are used when necessary.
Cleaning up After the installation, we'll clean up the work area and remove any packaging your products came in.

Not As Advertised
Posted by: WVUSax from: Morgantown, WV on
When I purchased my TV wall mounting, I expected "in-wall rated cables for A/V devices will be routed through a standard-frame wall for a clean, professional look."
However what I got was not clean or professional looking. I was told that running wires in the wall would only be vertical. The installers did not have the appropriate wire tracking to hide the wires outside of the wall either, instead advising me to go purchase them myself. Now I have a several wires running from the TV to the entertainment stand. I have included a picture so you can judge for yourself the clean professional look.
Also, I was never offered the "preinstallation site survey" that was included.

Excellent Service (if a little pricey)
Posted by: WRW971 from: New York on
While the service is pricey, IMHO it's worth the extra cost vs. either DIY or having someone you know do it for you primarily because of Best Buy's guarantees and knowledge. If something goes wrong and the TV breaks while your friend is installing it, you're out of luck. At least Best Buy is a large enough company to "make it right."
Since I had no outlet on the wall for behind the TV, and I wanted the wires hidden in the wall, I was forced to buy a $90 product as well as an additional $50 for them to install it. However, I wouldn't have thought about running the wires through the wall were it not for the Geek Squad rep offering it to me. I easily could've opted to just have them leave the wires neatly done. So I can't blame Geek Squad for that purchase, I just thought it was expensive.
The day of the install, the Geek Squad technician called me with an estimated arrival window. When he showed up, he immediately put on booties to cover his shoes to protect my home flooring. I didn't ask him to do so, he just did. He went straight to work, assessing where exactly I wanted the TV that would be best for my viewing angles and carefully removed the TV from the stand that it was on to get to work. While my stand was a universal stand not bought at Best Buy, he needed to go to his truck for different "spacers" than what came with it. This impressed me as, had he not had those spacers, he easily could've said, "sorry, this mount won't work with this TV." Instead, he used his own gear to make it work. He also hooked everything back up and gave me a tutorial on the TV settings, remotes, maneuverability of the mount itself (an articulating mounting bracket), and tips and tricks for getting the best picture from my viewing angle.
Overall, the professionalism, attention to detail and end work product were outstanding and I would highly recommend this service.

Over promises, under delivers
Posted by: Tony from: on
The description says that an installer comes "to your home and perform a preinstallation site survey and review the work to be performed". I took this to mean that they would come out before the installation date to make sure everything was kosher and met criteria. Had this occurred, there may not have been a problem. Instead, they showed up on the date of installation and told my wife that they needed to install two additional outlets since it was conveniently against code to run the wire through the wall (even though my wall is full of wires). It was also conveniently left off the description of the service - but they happened to have some with them to sell. As I said, convenient. There was a "modest" $150 (plus tax) additional fee to resolve this. At this point, you are stuck, so it is either pay it or leave the wire in sight, which defeats the whole purpose of the service. After paying $400 for the installation package with a $2000 tv and a $250 soundbar, I was very disappointed to see the "absolutely necessary expensive add-on" game being played here. I expected better, and will be looking elsewhere for electronics and service from now on. Shame to lose such a good customer over $150.

exactly what we wanted
Posted by: marineowl from: corinth tx on
the two gentleman came out, installed exactly where we requested and cleaned up the wires all in one spot so it looks good without having to go thru the wall. they were polite, and left everything cleaned up and undamaged. even made sure that all was hooked up correctly on the tv and audio when reconnecting the system.

Professional, expert and reliable!
Posted by: sashamene from: Henderson, NV on
Really pleased with the entire process for booking and getting my television mounted. The guys came over, covered their shoes with booties before entering the house and got started right away. They called me just before they were about to arrive and stayed within the time frame given. They explained everything to me and did a very professional job, mounting the television. They took every precaution to ensure that the television was hung straight and in the position on the wall that I wanted.
They set the television up in no time and weren't there long before everything was done.
This is a great service and I would recommend Geek Squad to anyone looking to install, mount or set up their television system. They have all the tools, know exactly what they are doing and provide the customer with confidence that they job will be completed to a very high standard which for me it certainly was. Thanks Geek Squad!!

Bestbuy needs better employees and pay system
Posted by: chefkristina from: Elk Grove,CA on
well the employees were ok but I am not happy about the overall experience. BestBuy charged my credit card twice and still has not refunded my credit card. Plus the original employee told me it was $99.99 for a mounting; this other person called me days later and said I was quoted the wrong price, so its $119.99. Then said my credit card was never charged but it was. Still cant connect with a person to even give my a refund because bestbuy keeps telling me bad information. I want my $99.99 refunded because I was double charged!

The 2 service techs came late and never did a consultation about what services I would receive prior to them coming. I explained to them that the video on the website said and it showed all the cables hidden behind the wall. The main techie said that I would have to pay an additional $150-$300.00 to put all the cables behind the walls. I again told him that the video said all cables would be hidden behind the wall with the tv mounting services that I purchased. So, of course what I saw and heard on the video was totally wrong. Of course after I mentioned my delusional concerns to him and his partner, he then he put one cable behind the wall and the rest of the cables remained a balled up mess. Why wouldn't Skippy make the rest of the cables neat and tidy. Wasn't Skippy supposed to show me the set -up for this complicated t.v.? That was also part of the services that I paid for and didn't receive!!!!!! I did contact customer services but they said you can't believe what you saw or heard on the video from our website because it wrong, not true, etc. We will have to charge a lot more money than you have already paid!!!! So of course I just looked at the balled up mess of cables and told the representative thats ok, I already paid $199.00. for tv mounting/tv set-up. I don't have an additional $300. to put all the cables behind the wall ,like it said.showed on your video????

Although I thought the price was pretty steep to have my TV mounted, I'd say it was worth it. Since I live alone there's no way I could have installed this by myself and done a good job. They were really nice and professional and didn't leave a mess.

Hidden costs involved
Posted by: FormerLoyalCustomer from: Washington, DC on
I tried setting up a wall mounting service in the store in DC. The guy ahead of me waiting in line turned around and informed me that he had been waiting in line for over 30 minutes. He told me this after I had been waiting for over 15 minutes. He and I were the only two people in line while there was one lady at the counter being serviced. I left the store and decided to set up wall mounting service over the phone. Bad idea... I told the customer service employee over the phone that I needed a TV mounted on the wall. I told the customer service representative exactly what I wanted and the customer service rep. repeated exactly what I asked for in my order. There was no mention of the fact that I had to buy ALL OF THE ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES SEPARATELY. Had I known, I probably would have declined Best Buy's service. Installation amounted to $450. $450......
After 15 years of shopping at Best Buy, I have officially become a loyal customer of hhgregg after this experience.
Good bye, Best Buy. It's been great conducting business with you.

I did not purchase the mount from best buy, it came with a TV stand I purchased. I required Best Buy to remove the feet of the tv and mount it for me. The serviceman did an excellent job
