One of the greatest sci-fi films ever made Posted by: from: Little Rock, AR on Ridley Scott's 1979 masterpiece is still a treat to watch and looks incredible on Blu-ray.

Edge of your seat thriller... Posted by: from: Louisville, KY on This film will always remain a classic. It's scary, influential and insanely entertaining. Not just that but Ridley Scott actually has a great sense of style and mood and he plays with that a lot, to make us shiver. There's also an interesting mystery surrounding the Alien which we know practically nothing about. Sigourney Weaver is just as powerful as usual and really brings strength to the film.

E.T. With a Twist! Posted by: from: on Alien" is one of the most intense Sci-Fi thrillers to have ever graced the silver screen or the home theater in any format! It is the film's intensity that provides such an incredible draw to this extraordinary film. If you're looking for a lot of action, this film is not really what you're looking for; "Aliens" is where the intensity and action comes into play in the line of Alien movies; the whole theme behind "Alien" is to scare to pants off of you with extremely intense scenes and if you've never seen this movie before, it may very well do just that! Never before in the history of this genre had there been a film of this magnitude and few have matched it in it's intensity since. Now, with this latest release, fans of "Alien" are treated to the best release of this film yet. The very first thing you'll notice when you put this DVD into your player is that you have the option of playing either the 1979 Theatrical Release or a 2003 Director's Cut. The 2003 Director's Cut is preceded by an interesting introduction by Ridley Scott himself. This cut is put together seamlessly and the additions to the film add just that much more flavor to the film,

A Sci-Fi classic in every sense of the word Posted by: from: Greensboro, NC on Everything about this film is classic. The sets. The style. The alien. This film set the standard in so many aspects. I personally love Ridley Scott's approach to the film. Controlled. Tension filled. Waiting for the right moment. Poised for attack. This film is lead with such expertise. It can still stand up to the sci-fi films of today. I wrote an additional review for Aliens, and I'll say the same thing in this one as well, just stick with these originals and avoid any of the films after Resurrection. Do yourself a favor and check this film out. Due to its age, it can be purchased almost anywhere for a great price. Then realize that this film was made in the 70's. Yes, the 70's! But that didn't stop them from creating excellent special effects, makeup, costumes, and sets. A film that was so ahead of its time. Simply put, a classic.

One of the great horror movies! Posted by: from: Milwaukee, WI on Arguably still Ridley Scott's best movie. Moody, terrifying and wholly original. One of the best horror movies of all time.

Excellent Classic Horror Sci-Fi Film and Blu-Ray Posted by: from: Indiana on In spite of dating from 1979, Alien (singular; the plural "Aliens" is its excellent 1986 sequel) remains consistently listed near the top of every all-time "scariest" or "most frightening" films. Continuing to be an effective shocker (for those seeing it the first time) is an achievement given the state of the art for special effects when the film was made. Blu-ray transfer is excellent given the film's age, especially the type and fidelity of cinema audio recording in that era. A "must see" for those into the "horror" genre, and especially its "sci-fi" sub-genre. The plot holds interest, characters are reasonably developed, the pacing is good, and a few unexpected twists and turns regarding some of the characters occur in the latter part of the film.

Ridley Scott's Masterpiece Posted by: from: Austin, Tx on Ridley Scott is a directing genius when it comes to film. However, Alien will forever be his masterpiece. Quite possibly the best Horror film ever released, Alien set up the franchise for ultimate success that still holds true to today. If you've never seen this movie, it is a classic that can not be passed up. While Aliens was more of an action and suspense movie, Alien keeps you at the edge of yours seat in true Horror movie fashion.

Alien - The Original Posted by: from: Poughkeepsie, NY on This movie is the one and only scariest non-stop action movie that can never be duplicated. Anyone who has never seen Alien (really is there anyone out there that hasn't seen Alien?) should hit their "On Demand" button and enjoy. This movie is as fresh and up-to-date today as when it was original premiered 25 years ago. Give Ridley Scott a "Platium Star". I would definitely recommend this movie.
