This won an Oscar for Best Picture in 1984? Posted by: from: on I am not seeing what the people saw in this movie in voting it an Oscar for best picture of 1984. Amadeus laugh drove me crazy throughout the movie. That said I have seen worse movies. I can only give this a fair rating. Maybe average at best but no higher for me.

The movie Amadeus is excellent Posted by: from: on The movie Amadeus is a biography of Amadeus Mozart. Without a doubt, it is one of the best 20 movies I have watched in more than 40 years.

My favorite movie ... Posted by: from: Wayne on I can see why some might think this movie boring. I fell asleep on it the first time I watched it, but once I got back into it, I wondered how I could fall asleep on it. (I must have been REALLY tired) The whole story is just fantastic. F. Murray Abraham as Salieri is just mesmerizing in how obsessed he is with the music that Mozart is creating. Tom Hulce is equally amazing as Mozart and all his zanyness... I buy very few DVDs... This one I had to have.

One of the best movies ever Posted by: from: melrose park, il on A movie, like dance, music, painting etc is not necessary about telling the truth that you find it in the real life, its about how you tell the truth in idea to find the best way to impress the soul and mind of the people who watch and listen. It's nothing wrong to exaggerate or give it a less importance to an event just to pop up another one . It's the most entertaining movie ever .

Excellent movie; highly recommended Posted by: from: on Bought the DVD for the extras; there is a very good documentary about the making of the movie which says is included... it is not on this 2 disc version. I ended up watching it on youtube. No need for this 2 disc version, however, for 5 bucks hard to complain as it is a very beautiful and entertaining movie.

Beautifully Shot, But Historically Inaccurate Film Posted by: from: on Milos Foreman's Academy-Award winning movie about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) is a gorgeously filmed, but grossly inaccurate, portrayal of the greatest musician the world has ever known. F. Murray Abraham gives a solid performance as the man who may or may not have silenced the world's greatest musical genius. The inaccuracies are too many for me to list here, but if you're looking for a history lesson on Mozart (who is my favourite composer), this movie IS NOT it. The Director's Cut runs 3 hours and is rated R.

Best made movie ever! Posted by: from: Uniontown, OH on The other reviewer is correct that this is no documentary; it never claimed to be. That being said, this is the most brilliantly orchestrated movie I have ever seen! Personally, I like the absurd twists this movie takes on Mozart's character. It just adds to the dynamics between Mozart and Salieri. If you are looking for an intelligent and entertaining movie, buy this! If you are looking for a history lesson, read a book or watch a documentary on PBS or the History Channel.
