Texas has been the setting for a handful of high-profile cases, among them the Henry Lee Lucas trial and the death row appeal of Karla Fay Tucker. But possibly the most suspect of these well-known trials was the court battle of Cullen Davis. A&E profiles the notorious millionaire who escaped not one but two murder convictions in American Justice: Oil, Money and Murder. The question on most viewers' minds is did the richest person ever to be tried for that crime buy his way out of jail? In 1976, Davis shot and killed his wife's daughter and boyfriend. Despite overwhelming evidence of his guilt, Davis was acquitted. A mere nine months later, during a messy divorce procedure, Davis allegedly hired a man to kill the judge presiding over his case. The FBI caught his deal on tape but once again, Davis went free. Is this a case of a wealthy man being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or did the justice system fall before powerful connections? A&E searches for the truth. ~ Sarah Ing, Rovi
