A&E documents the misadventures of the rich and famous in American Justice: Preppie Murder. Jennifer Levin and Robert Chambers were both members of the New York City social elite. They often dined on the Upper East Side with a group of rowdy friends. One August evening in 1986, the two went to Central Park after an evening out. What followed would become fodder for defense attorneys and the media's intent to discredit the reputation of victims. Levin was killed by Chambers after a session of "rough sex" and he fled the scene leaving her body to be discovered by strangers. He was immediately arrested and charged with murder but his excuses would become an example of the common yet controversial tendency to blame the victim of such assaults. Despite the attempts to pass the incident off as kinky foreplay gone too far, Chambers was convicted. A&E takes the viewer to the night of the crime and relives the court case which captured the nation's attention. ~ Sarah Ing, Rovi
