America's Castles: Windy City
Viewers are taken inside the elegant mansion known as Cuneo, designed by Benjamin Marshall for Samuel Insull, a one-time partner of Thomas Edison. In 1937, John Cuneo bought this Venetian-style home that had its own private chapel and an indoor swimming pool. Visitors to the Windy City can also see where Colonel Robert R. McCormick, publisher of the Chicago Tribune, spent his free evenings and weekends. His home, Cantigny, is surrounded by acres of well-manicured gardens. A&E continues its look at some of Chicago's most elegant homes as it visits the Charles Gates Dawes House Museum. Dawes served as the vice president of the United States under Calvin Coolidge and was the 1925 recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. ~ Elizabeth Smith, Rovi
