Excellent iPad for musicians! Posted by: from: on Ever since my first iPad 5 years ago I've wanted one with a bigger screen, and the new iPad Pro delivers! With the 128GB storage I can carry around my entire sheet music library, and the screen is crystal clear. The battery life has improved over the earlier iPads, so it will definitely last through a gig without needing to be plugged in. And the cellular capability makes it easy to download new music PDFs whenever I want, even if I'm not in range of wi-fi. This is my ideal tablet and I recommend it to musicians who are tired of lugging around piles of music books. With the Apple Pencil it's easy to markup scores in the ForScore app (that's the music reading app I use) so it's just like using a pencil on paper. I can't say enough great things about this -- the processing speed has improved so that even though I have over 6000 music PDF files, when I open ForScore it snaps right to my current piece and is ready for action. Even on my iPad4 it took quite a few seconds to be ready, but with this iPad Pro there's no wait at all.

Perfect for me, maybe not for others Posted by: from: Washington, DC on Overall I'm really liking the iPad Pro. Larger screen size makes it perfect for watching movies, streaming, games and more. Other than the internals, this is nothing more than a larger iPad Air 2 honestly. For me, I use it for entertainment purposes mostly. I'll do a bit of work on it however this is not a laptop replacement or everyday sort of tablet like others may use it. As such, it's perfect for me in that I can view movies and shows on a larger screen with a without issue. For those that are casual users or looking for something more functional in their daily lives, this might not be it for you. With it considerably larger size, carrying this thing daily might be a bit cumbersome for some people. Personally, I think the iPad Air 2 has the best form factor so far in terms of everyday carry and portability. While the pen and keyboard might be attractive to some, I don't really have a need for them but might prove very useful to other folks in the graphic design or arts area. So, I love it however this increase in size definitely isn't going to be for everyone that's for sure.

IMPRESSIVE Posted by: from: on I am new to the iPad, and have previously owned the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition, which I have used for note-taking. When Apple put out this large-screen tablet, with a pencil, I knew I would find the device extremely useful. Being that I take a lot of notes, the larger screen, comparable to the size of a yellow pad, makes note-taking much easier than on the smaller tablet. I found set-up to be very easy and applications available are many. I installed Microsoft Word and the "draw" feature allows me to write my notes by hand, which was the main selling point for me when making this purchase. I have been using Word for many years, so this additional perk was irresistible. I downloaded some sketch apps (and I am no artist), and find them fun to use. I am not a gamer, but my Kindle app makes reading a pleasure on this device. I will have a lot more to explore since I have only owned this for a little over a week, but so far, I am quite impressed.

Love the larger size screen. Posted by: from: on When I first purchased the iPad Pro 12.9, I was thinking the screen might be too big. It almost seemed like a laptop. Then I started using it, got used to the screen size, and now it feels like the perfect size. When I occasionally use my old iPad, it seems so small. I also like watching movies on the larger size screen. The audio is so much better and fuller sounding because of the 4 speakers instead of 2. I am really impressed with the iPad Pro overall. I also purchased the Zagg slimline keyboard. The two look like they were made as one unit. Very happy with my purchase.

Awesome iPad but check your expectations Posted by: from: Amery, WI on I upgraded to an iPad Pro from my iPad Air and will not go back to the smaller screen. The added real estate on this device is awesome and it makes the device feel more like a tool than a media consumption device. When you first open the box, you will be shocked at how large this thing is. But that feeling goes away after a few days of use and then you will be wondering how you ever got by with a smaller screen. The iPad is thin, pretty light for it's size, and has an absolutely beautiful screen. Camera's aren't great, but nobody should be using the camera for anything else except FaceTime, seriously people. The iPad runs very fast and I have not run across any speed issues on any apps. Apple will claim that this can replace your laptop, but I am mixed on that pitch. I think it is a great device, but you are still limited by the features of functionality of iOS. File management is far from perfect and Apple still locks down some settings like not being able to use a different default web browser, email client, etc. If iOS keeps moving in the productivity direction, this would be a good product for some people. App support for some of the great features including the new keyboard layout, picture in picture, and split screen are still rolling out into more and more apps. But expect some early adopter annoyances first. I'd also recommend the Apple Pencil - it is a great accessory. Still waiting for my Smart Keyboard though...

iPad Plus Posted by: from: on The ipad Pro is more Plus than Pro in my opinion which isn't a bad thing. It's by far the fastest ipad ever. The best sounding ipad (or any mobile device apple makes). Doubles the RAM of the ipad Air 2. In other words, iOS and any apps scream on this. The screen is fantastic. The apple pencil works well although a few minor things about the pencil itself could be improved such as the cap, where to put it, etc. However, it falls a bit short when all this talk of replacing a laptop or desktop rears its ugly head. I'd like to say it depends on your needs, but more than likely, you'll come across something you just need a PC or Mac to do. Apple has mentioned it's a bad experience to have a touchscreen in a laptop. But then they go ahead and make a kb case for ipad pro which is the same thing. You have to touch the screen with no mouse. It's a bad experience. This is also something that isn't the easiest to use on the go. In the car, it's a beast. On an airplane? Huge. The ipad Air is more suitable for this. You need a laptop bag just to transport the ipad Pro. For artists, drawers, and note takers, this is a dream and easily recommended. If you're not into that, then it's basically a bigger, better performing ipad. It does nothing over the Air in terms of replacing a PC or Mac if that's your goal. In that case, I'd only consider the Pro if you're definitely an ipad user, not a casual one. I have no problem waiting for apps and iOS to catch up with this or future models. For the price, it's not worthwhile for me at this time. If I was more of an artist, then the Pencil would be enough reason in itself.

Great Device, Interesting Screens Posted by: from: on My work has purchased several of these. Furthermore, I ordered one as a gift for my child. Finally, this one may be used in my spouse's business. Firstly, the screen is massive and impressive in size. The interaction with the iPad is not simply "bigger." The experience is different, more fun, and more engaging on a larger screen. Touching your photos, music, websites, etc. feels that much more special on the 12.9 inch display. Secondly, the design of the unit is nice. Beautiful aluminum, and the Space Grey with Black Bezel pops nicely. I greatly prefer that to the white bezel models. Performance is terrific. 4GB of RAM, super fast processor, etc. A joy to use. Finally, the only caveat I have is that having seen several at work plus my son's, the screens tend to have uneven color. The top of the screen will be darker and more yellow, while the bottom of the screen is brighter and more white. Depending on how you hold the iPad Pro, it can make reading a book or white website, distracting. This screen "unevenness," varies in severity from iPad to iPad, so some are worse than others. This is sadly a negative of most LCD screens today and for some reason, you really notice it on an iPad where you have full screen apps like books and white websites open. Overall, stunning performance. Beautiful design, a whole new way to interact with your content. I just wish displays could become more consistent. And I wish Best Buy would take care of their products better, this one we ordered, they had written with sharpie all over the box which bled through to the fancy white Apple box. Not what you expect for this price tag. Overall, cool product.

iPad Pro Posted by: from: on I purchased this item and have been very pleased. I am impressed with the speed and with the display . The speed is very responsive compared to my older model. The clarity and colors of the display are excellent. I would recommend this as a positive purchase. The only disappointment is the keyboard and pencil are not available yet.

Bigger IPad Posted by: from: on First of all, the iPad pro can not be a lap top replacement for those in professional fields, at least not in its current form. It can be a lap top replacement for those who use their computer for basic things such as checking email and browsing the web, but that can be done in any iPad. What this iPad bring is more real estate and power. The size of the new ipad is only truly realized in person. It's size allows it to be more immersive and for makes media consumption much better. Also, the speakers have been vastly improved. Multitasking on the large screen makes performing many tasks easier as well.
