Good computer, even better service Posted by: from: on I have been an iMac user since 2004, so I'm admittedly biased in rating this computer high. I am disappointed that these new computers don't have a CD/DVD drive anymore, but the old vertical version was so poor, it's probably better to buy an outboard anyway. However, the Best Buy service I got really made me happy. I went to the Apple Store at my local mall to buy a new computer when my old hard drive and video drive both simultaneously died. The salesperson told me I could get interest free financing for 18 months with the purchase of the computer. After swiping my credit card, the cashier told me I would have to take that up with the credit card company first, as they could not guarantee that deal. Thanks for telling me that after charging my card! Anyway, I get home and call the credit card company, who told me I would have to wait for the charges to clear before they could guarantee any special deal. I immediately returned the computer and went next door to Best Buy, where they offered my 12 months interest free financing with no hassles or strings attached. My only regret in purchasing this computer is that I didn't go to Best Buy in the first place.

Beautiful screen and improved keyboard/mouse Posted by: from: on The new operating system is enough of a change to be noticeable and functional but still feels familiar to anyone upgrading from an older system. As far as the computer goes, it's awsome. The screen is perfectly calibrated with accurate color and precision manufacturing. I have built Windows computers, and worked repairing them, as well as fixed a few macs and although you may get more for your money on a Windows machine as far as processor speed and graphics, I still prefer MAC. On a Mac you're paying a premium for the design and reliability, and if you've been through the frustration of dealing with Windows software issues then you will truly appreciate the difference. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because a few years back iMacs could be used as monitors for other devices and Apple has removed that feature from these new 5k and 4K models which is tragic given the beatiful screens these guys have.

Nice upgrade Posted by: from: on My old iMac was in need of an upgrade. Going from a 24" screen to a 21" was not desirable, so I went with the 27" model. After reading reviews about the fusion drive, I decided that was the way to go. It works great, but there was a problem with the sleep mode, as the computer would not restart from the sleep mode unless the computer was unplugged and plugged back in. Spent a lot of time on the phone with AppleCare and doing a lot of different gyrations......plugging it into different outlets, bypassing the surge protector and other things. Finally figured out that the hub that I plugged into the computer was causing the problem. I disconnected a few items from the hub and connected them directly into the iMac and all was good. Other than that, everything is working fine. Satisfied with this computer.

An Amazing Machine Posted by: from: on My wife needed a simplistic machine that can do everything that most of her iPhone and iPad Air can do with a way to keep things convenient. I am a PC guy through & through and when she asked me about why I want to give this to her as opposed to a new desktop, it is because Macs produce better resolutions for pictures and video. Plus, when it comes to that, Macs do handle better on those types of softwares than a PC. Yes, I know there are PCs out there that can handle all of it (I even have free versions of some of these softwares, but I digress), but with the whole sharing capabilities of iCloud across multiple devices (without logging in to a remote URL to access that info), it saved her a ton of time on her business & less frustration on my part. I am learning the iMac as I go along. I had to have my keyboard shortcuts (some are similar, some are different than a PC), but I am getting acclimated with it, and I am seeing why Apple has popular products. If you work solely on video and photo editing, then this is the way to go.

New to Apple OS Posted by: from: on This is my first Apple product and it's taking me some time to get up to speed on the operating system. The local Apple stores conduct free classes on various topics which I found beneficial. The included data migration program for transferring files and other data from my old PC mostly worked but there was just enough that didn't move over that I needed to spend a lot of time checking for what didn't. Only two of my approximately 100 contacts transferred which required me having to recreate the rest from scratch. The included keyboard doesn't have the number pad, which I use regularly, so I had to purchase one that did. I also recommend buying a remote hub so that you don't need to reach around behind the monitor every time you need access a usb port. Other than these minor issues, I'm happy with the Mac.

ultimate desktop Posted by: from: on This is my third iMac that I've had the pleasure of unwrapping and setting up for my family and friends. The people at Apple got it right this time with the new amazing 5K display with the new operating system called "El Capitan". To my surprise the wireless keyboard has a new design and is rechargeable and quite slimline without the need to put in those expensive lithium batteries in it. Now you can get that long run time out of your keyboard without the need to replace the batteries by just quickly connecting to the iMac with the included USB to keyboard wire. After a few hours you can disconnect the wire and you get days of wireless keyboard use.

A wonderful apple product with a minor flaw Posted by: from: on I absolutely love my new iMac! It is fast and user friendly! One minor flaw however, and I'm not sure if there is a bug in the iMac or not, or if it has to do with my external monitor I have currently plugged in, but when my iMac goes into a deep sleep after a while with my external Samsung monitor, it will not wake up! I am currently trying to resolve the issue and will update here if I do! If you are planning to use two screens with your iMac be cautious! Other than that, has been a wonderful product as I mentioned above.

Amazing piece of equipment! Posted by: from: on Amazing from the sleek design to performance. I couldn't ask for a better piece of equipment. I mostly do video editing on it and pics using Adobe lightroom. I was considering buying the lower model but decided on the 27in. One reason was the display size would make working on video and pics easier. The other reason was that only on the 27in IMAC you have the option to upgrade the ram yourself. I wasn't sure if I wanted the SSD so I decided to go with the Fusion drive which is good makin opening the programs that I use mostly quicker. Also boot up only takes seconds.

So Thankful I made the switch to this 27 iMac Posted by: from: Dartmouth, MA on After struggling with a new windows based computer for nearly a month I finally returned it and bought this 27 iMac. Even though it only comes with an I5 processor this computer runs excellent and is very fast. Being my 1st Apple computer and with no prior apple experience I was able to move all my photos, quickbooks data, Office data, and all my documents with little effort. I did have to buy the Mac versions for Quickbooks and also Office but a very small price to pay for the way this computer runs. It is just superb. Bought it at Best Buy at a good price. The only thing I had trouble with coming from a windows computer was transferring my music files which were in a .wma format so I just bought a few albums from ITUNES rather than struggle with a 3rd party app trying to reconfigure the music files. This computer is such a joy to use without any issues. Doubt that I will ever go back to a Windows based computer. It exceeded my expectations and after a few short days I now feel very comfortable running iMAC. More than pleased with my purchase. I wish I would have made the switch to Apple years ago.

Great but with Caveats Posted by: from: on Love the IMac 27 5K, but a few items people should know before buying: Not much 4K content to take advantage of as Netflix and others do not allow it on the Mac Fusion drive on 1TB is only 24GB SSD compared to the 256GB SSD on the old version and 2TB on the new version Not much for apps like there are for IOS Plus: GoPro Editing with iMovie as opposed to GoPro Studio, Creating music with 1/4" to USB guitar cable, integration of content between my apple devices, too many others to name
