The very best Router Posted by: from: on I own a lot of Apple products and when I came into The Rochester, Mn location looking to get a new router, as mine was over 5 yrs old and lost connection alot. I first talked to a geek Squad rep and he was helpful somewhat, but a Apple Rep came down the Router Isle and overheard us talking and took over the conversation in a nice way and showed me the Airport Extreme and explained why it is so awesome. I did not know Apple made routers and how well they worked. He showed me how easy they were to set up and OMG he was spot on as when I got home it made a huge difference with all my devices. I do not lose connection at all anymore and it covers over 2,200 sq feet and my home is 2856 sq feet.. I have many things that use WiFI and all I had to really do with some of my devices was just reset the internet and reconnect to the new router. This is such a AWESOME router. Once again Apple makes great products. I could not thank the Apple rep enough for his time and showing me such a great product. It also has many great features.

Best wifi access point on the market Posted by: from: on In the last year I have purchased a number of connected home wifi devises that need a good wifi signal for them to perform properly. The basic wifi connection I was getting from my cable provider was not cutting it. So I upgraded to their super duper wifi router. Big mistake, although I had some improvement it was still marginal. I called my cable provider and told them my problem and they said to upgrade my wifi signal to 75 Mbps for additional $50 dollars a month. I did see some improvement but again it was marginal. Then my friend told me about the apple AirPort Extreme base station and highly recommended this. Desperate I ran down to Best buys where I have purchased a number of connected home devices. I purchased the AirPort Extreme, took it home, plugged it into my cable router and set it up with apple support. When I hung up with Apple my son was in the adjacent room and ask " Dad did you do something to the wifi ? it is amazingly fast. When I heard that I went around the house checking all my devices and found " through my apps" that my devices were working at there optimum performance. It was a miracle that my friend recommended the AirPort Extreme to me. If you really want a product that does the job. Get an apple AirPort Extreme I highly recommend it.

Solid Stable and Fast Posted by: from: on I have used many linksys/cisco and netgear routers in the past with many issues. For the last several years, I've been using Apple Airports without issue. I upgraded from a 5th generation AirPort to this wireless AC model. There is a noticeable difference in how quick pages load (snappiness) and in stability of the connection while using Apple products with wireless AC (retina iMac, 2015 MacBook, iPhone 6, MacBook Pro). Overall, it was worth the money. It was a solid upgrade with noticeable improvements in speed from the 5th generation AirPort. It's been plugged in and once its been set up, its never been restarted or anything. It just works day after day wirelessly at very near the same speed that you're getting from your internet provider. It makes a wireless internet connection (over AC) feel almost exactly like a gigabit wired connection.

Easy to set up, and very reliable. Posted by: from: on This replaces an older, “legacy” version that, while it worked, for whatever reason seemed to be incompatible with a new BrightHouse MoDem/Router that included telephone land-line connectivity. This upgrade to the Extreme solved the problem. We use it in conjunction with 2 Airport Express units, and they worked with the new Extreme automatically; no additional set-up was necessary. Setting up a second WiFi “guest” address also was simple. A note on Apple Tech Support: I had recently called Apple for help with the Legacy unit, and received support without question, even though the unit was out-of-date.

So this is what fast feels like! Posted by: from: on For years I have setup my home with routers that were inexpensive and easy to plug in and go. I've always been accustomed to the speeds at which they provided and I never really had complaints. Recently, some of my devices would drop their wireless connection each day. It was a pain to me and my family. I decided to purchase a new router and started to move toward a purchase that was routine. Until I came across the AirPort Extreme. i researched the reviews and thought let's try it. OH WOW! It was super easy to get my network up and running. I have 5 Apple products, 2 Windows devices, XBOXone, Bluray player, and TV all connected. 2 of these items are using the wired ports while all remaining items are wirelessly connected. The devices are typically on at the same time and we have never experienced a speed reduction. Speaking of speed. My wireless internet used to drag around 10-15Mbps from my high speed service that says it runs at 100Mbps. I now crank speeds of 40-50Mbos wirelessly. My wired connections rip at 80-90Mbps!! The signal strength is awesome. My devices stay connected on all 3 levels of my home. I now have connection out on my patio and in the garage!! I am more than overjoyed with this purchase. It's ease of install, speeds, signal strength, and stability are very welcoming. I have suggested this to friends and family and highly suggest it for you.

Excellent wifi router Posted by: from: on I have been using an Apple Time Capsule as my wireless router for my home. My home is quite large and the interior walls are covered with sound absorbing wallboard as well as insulated. These features limited the range of my Apple Time Capsule wifi router so I opted to put in a remote AirPort Extreme at the opposite end of the home to give my full wifi access throughout my home. The Airport Extrem was an excellent choice, I now have a well balance strong wifi signal throughout my home and outside porches. It was very easy to install as an extended router without using cables. The performance of this unit is flawless and based on my AirPort Time Capsule, which is 8 years old, I expect the same length of service from the new AirPort Extreme. I wold recommend the AirPort Extreme to my friends and family.

FAST!! Posted by: from: Texarkana on i have had just about all the latest routers on the market and could not seem to have them keep up with the demanding use that i put on them on a day to day basis. I am very intuitive when it comes to the technological age due to being an aviation electronics technician. i find myself always looking for better and with the Apple Airport Extreme i found it. The extreme replaced the Netgear R6300, which replaced the linksys AC1200. Both were great routers but could not keep up with the gaming, surfing, multiple connected devices....ect.. The apple tech referred me to the airport extreme and after installation i understand. i performed checks all on of the devices and checked my online gaming and it was lightning fast compared to the others. The best thing is that it doesn't just connect apple devices. I have just about everything non apple and some apple devices hooked up and i couldn't be happier. I would recommend this to anyone trying to get the most out of their router and some. - best plus is that it allows up to 50 device connections.

High Price Posted by: from: West Chester on This is by far the BEST router I've ever owned! Before I purchased this router, I had a Belkin N600 which was terrible if you wanted to download games using Steam and streaming Netflix at the same time. I was initially turned off by the cost of this router so I went with the Belkin AC1200, but I still had the same exact problem. A day later I exchanged that router for the Airport Extreme and I've just been blown away by the performance and ease of use. Installing/set-up took all but two minutes and when I ran a test, I streamed my favorite show "Bob's Burgers," and downloaded a game from my Steam Library. The stream maintained full HD without any hiccups or buffering, and I was still able to download a 5 GB game within 15 minutes using the AC feature on my MacBook Air. FYI: If you want to take advantage of the wireless AC feature, make sure you have a wireless AC compatible laptop, Smartphone, tablet, or desktop.

Awesome WIFI Posted by: from: on This has boosted my ability to have wifi all over my yard. I have about 2 acres of land with the house centered for the most part. Old system I could only get outside just a little before I lost signal. Now I can go to all corners of the yard and it works great. Helps make the Sonos system even better.

Fantastic router. Posted by: from: on This is a great router, and well worth the price. Which should be noted is the same or less than similar featured routers like the Netgear Nighthawk. I was only getting 20-25mbps with my newly upgraded 105mbps service from Comcast using the Linksys Wireless N router I had previously. The Apple Airport extreme was super easy to set up using my iPad, and I immediately got speeds in the 120-125mbps range over wifi on all my devices with Wireless N or AC support. Easily the best router I've owned. It has the easiest set up (at least if you have an iOS device or Mac--I can't speak to the PC set up app), works great and looks better than other routers. Highly recommended.
