Fast and dependable Posted by: from: on The apple airport time capsule is fast and dependable and works very well with apple devices, haven't really tested the wireless speeds with other devices but have tested other wireless routers with apple devices that promise similar speeds but haven't been able to deliver. The backup feature is the primary reason to buy this particular router and it works great. Setup is easy, backing up can be a bit slow but since it's done in the background it's not an issue. This the device can also be used as network attached storage (NAS) to stream movies music or just store store data. I use it to stream movies and tv shows to my Apple TV. That's about all I can think of about the apple airport time capsule, hope this review is helpful.

Best backup for Mac's Posted by: from: on The Good: Installation with my iMac was seamless and fast. This new generation Time Capsule allows me to stream without buffering. Time Capsule backups happen in the background without any assist. Wifi signal reception is 100%. The Bad: The 2TB Time Capsule replaces a 6 year old 1TB Time Capsule which was fried! While installing El Capitan O.S., a time capsule restart was required to reestablish its presence. Apple instructions said "unplug the power to the time capsule and plug back in". What they did not say is unplug at the wall only! .....NOT AT THE BACK OFTHE TIME CAPSULE. Unplugging at the back of the time capsule (Setup Guide p. 18) produced an arc of power surge with a visible spark. This killed the time capsule. A simple ON/OFF switch could have prevented this along with a caution not to unplug the cord at the time capsule. Also, the time capsule can not be opened for inspection or repair without destroying the case. Don't do what I diid and you will love your time capsule for years to come. P.S...the instruction which came with the time capsule, Setup Guide, is about 3.5" square printed in a font so small it can barely be read with magnifying reading glasses discouraging the use of the instructions by all but the most diligent users.

Loving the decision to buy Time Capsule Posted by: from: on I grew increasingly frustrated with weak wifi signal depending on where I was in my house. I decided to get a separate router after reading lots of posts about the generally poor quality of wifi from routers provided by cable companies. Boy has this router made a difference. I now have good wifi throughout all rooms plus on my deck (which was barely worth trying before). I can verify that the ease of setup and stability Apple is known for is correct. I also had no backup before and that brings some peace of mind as well with the Time Capsule.

Time capsule Best Buy. Posted by: from: Ripley, ny on Was looking at the apple airport, and saw the time capsule. Was not sure exactly what it was, so I asked the associate what it was and the difference between them. Explained that it was a router and hard drive in one for backing up Apple devices. So purchased. Setup was idiot proof. Worked perfect with laptop, but an issue with iPad. No Apple app to use hard drive. App for airport, but.... Found a couple apps that worked on pictures but not much else. For backing up laptops and computers, perfect, iPads, not so much. The speed of the wireless side is impressive, video, music, tv news on apps, great. Is it Worth spending the money for? if I knew before what I know now, yes I would still buy it, even with the iPad issue. anyone interested in home "cloud" backup, this is the way to go. One piece unit for router and drive is well thought out and soon it should support iPads better.

Great while it lasts! Posted by: from: on Pros: simple set up, AC Wireless, can be bridge and never had to reboot. Overall device functions well and the time capsule option is nice. Only complaint is it only lasted 20 months. Lucky for me I purchased with VISA signature and got extended warranty by default. But dissapointed in something of high quality to fail so shortly. My suggestion if you need back up look at alternatives the hard drives on these units are not great for power users. (photos, videos, and backup) Or better yet look for cloud options the cost over time and peace of mind outweighs itself. As mentioned overall is good but giving 3 stars due to its failure in short period of time.

network runs well backups are automatic Posted by: from: on To downsize the amount of time I spend at home on IT tasks this was the last part of the ecosystem puzzle. auto backups and cleaning up the local wireless mess was the goal. I was skeptical of the compatibility with some of the devices and streaming equipment but it's worked out much better than the cable providers built in wifi. If you can afford this it is the way to go. Then again backups are priceless if you are a MAC user it's your move plug in the drive or just check if it's done once a week or so.

Smart Move Posted by: from: on This is a smart move - hands down. Puts everything in once place - accessible by any computer connected to it. Great for photos, stared folders, etc. I love mine. The first one that arrived to me had a bad hard drive - Best Buy quickly exchanged making things great again. Note: if you buy all your Apple Computer and this Time Capsule in a close timespan - (if you have/get Apple Care for your mac) Apple will cover your Time Capsule for the same warranty length (since it too has a hard drive).

Set it and forget it Posted by: from: on I love Apple Airport products. I have a first gen airport extreme at another location and it is still alive and kicking fine. The measure of a good router is how often you find yourself aware of its existence and I often forget this guy is even here. This time capsule works as advertised and I am 100% satisfied with it. There is a bit of a noise when it's waking up and reading the disk, but I find it endearing.

Excellent Addition to my MacBook Air Posted by: from: on I wanted a simple effective way to backup the data on my Apple MacBook Air. I read all of the reviews on this Airport Time Capsule and decided to give it a try. If I didn't like it or it didn't work for me I could always take it back to Best Buy within 15 days for a full refund. I am very pleased to say that this was a excellent purchase. The setup time took about 45 seconds and 15 seconds of that was an error that I made by placing the LAN cable in the wrong spot on the back of the unit. After answer a few questions it quickly found my network and the Amber light turned Green indicating that I was done and ready for use. I did the first backup and it took about 45 min. Only 45 GB used on my MacBook so it didn't take to long at all. I've always had a few dead spots on my WiFi in my home so I tested those spots out and immediately noticed a significant improvement in signal strength. Based on all of my tests and hands on I can't see any reason why I can't give this item a 5 Star rating in all categories. I caught it on sale at Best Buy for $278.00. What a DEAL !!!

I upgraded an older version. Simple install Posted by: from: on I upgraded an older model of an airport base station because of the time capsule feature. I plugged it in and system recognized it, I was able to copy my old settings to the new unit and I selected this for wireless backup on my Mac mini . Apple just makes reliable quality products and this is consistent through their product line. I think this is a good value for the reliability and quality even though it cost more than other solutions.
