Great performing computer Posted by: from: on This is the lower end of the Mac mini line. Even with that, it performs very well for its intended purpose...productivity software. I mainly needed support for programs in the Microsoft Office Suite, Quicken and internet usage. It has more than enough power to work with all of these products. It handles large powerpoint files extremely well. One of the things I like about the Mac mini is it is very easy to pack up and take with you for presentations and such. While making a presentation portable and just using a projector to show it is great, being able to make changes and impromptu changes is wonderful. The unit has ample storage and memory to make these types of applications fly. When at home I appreciate it sitting there looking more like a switch or large apple tv, not taking up much space. Most people do not even realize I have a computer there hooked up to my tv. I use a remote mouse and keyboard making this effortless to use with any tv anywhere.

Worst Computer ever Posted by: from: on Super slow, No CD/DVD Drive, I upgraded from an older mac mini from 08, which was faster and had a CD/DVD Drive. This gave me a view at what apple was really thinking about. They want you to throw away your old disks an repurchase your entire library. And the unit can't be upgraded 1.4ghz processor, Runs like a old 486, when you outgrow simply toss in the trash. I returned this machine. Apple sliding down the hill. Whom ever at apple designed this thing, should be retired/terminated. Intel now in their 6th generation and with memory running in the ghz, nobody wants 4 year old technology; today!.

Good entry into mac world Posted by: from: on I purchased the Mac Mini because, after having an iPad and iPhone for several years, I wanted to get into the Mac world after my previous desktop died. For less than $500, which is by far the least expensive Mac out there, I was able to accomplish that. It come with just the computer and a power cord, which wasn't a problem for me since I already had a mouse, monitor, and keyboard left over from my other computer. So far it does everything I need and it runs smoothly. I'd read in other reviews that it can be a little sluggish but I haven't really seen that (though I admit, I haven't pushed it too hard yet). I've been using it to take an online course and it's been fine with multi-tasking. I also do web-surfing and word processing and haven't had any issues. Overall I would recommend the Mac Mini for anyone who is looking to get into the Mac world but doesn't want to shell out a couple grand for one of the higher end Macs (especially if you already have other hardware, like a monitor and keyboard that you can use with it). It's not fancy but it gets the job done.

Absolutely a phenomenal machine! Posted by: from: on All I can say is why did it take me so many years to switch over to Macintosh? After enduring incessant Windows 10 updates and the regular frustration associated with dealing with Windows, I decided there must be something better out there. I bought this Mac out of frustration with Windows and let me tell you all my headaches are gone. Finally, an operating system, that unlike Windows, doesn't freeze up while randomly starting to install updates which brings ones productivity to a standstill -- The Macintosh operating system works and updates occur on your schedule. I will never buy another Windows machine again - Mac is awesome. And at this price point there is no reason why anyone should have to endure Windows!

Decent Computer for Everyday Tasks or as an HTPC Posted by: from: Seattle, WA on My first Mac, still getting used to it. Moving all of my files over was relatively easy with the built in tool. Comes with all apps I need, a learning curve, but I appreciate not having to buy everything again. Works great for web browsing, word processing, spreadsheets. iTunes of course is there and my iPhone syncs really fast, though apparently iTunes on the Mac doesn't sync Notes, which was a big headache to work around. The price is reasonable for an i5 machine, but 4gb of RAM is on the low end. I wished I had gotten 8gb, especially since RAM is no longer upgradeable. The HD5000 graphics is a nice improvement, but still not great for gaming, but at least for some games, it's reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised when I loaded World of Warcraft. I would recommend to anyone looking for a machine for basic tasks or for someone looking for a home theater PC. I loaded Plex on it and it runs very well, so I can connect to an HDTV to watch videos. Pricier than an Apple TV, but a lot more options or if you have an Apple TV, you can Airplay to it.

Excellent small form-factor Mac-Mini Posted by: from: on This system is about the size of an external CDROM drive, comes with Mac OS X and is quite fast for a machine with only 4 GB of RAM. Not for graphic designers but does gaming quite well and has HDMI monitor support. Bring your own monitor, mouse, and keyboard and enjoy modern computing with the tools included with the Operating System.

Love my new iMac mini! Posted by: from: on Great iMac mini computer! I really wasn't sure if to purchase a desk top Mac or the mini since my husband and I didn't really need the Mac computer. We just needed something to pay bills and do online shopping and so we are really happy with our purchase. We didn't get the beautiful big screen that comes with the Mac but we already had a new nice screen and the apple key board and track so it certainly cost less than the Mac. The picture you get is still clear, bright and beautiful. It gets the job done!

Perfect size and function Posted by: from: on Perfect size and function, this is just what I needed to save space but yet still have the power of a big desktop. Apple products are the best in my opinion. No reason to buy updated software you always get the OS updates when necessary which makes this very convenient and a great purchase. There was a bit of a learning curve because I went from Windows to Apple but I already had several Apple products such as AppleTV iPad and iPhone. This synced up with everything and made home networking even easier.

No optical drive Posted by: from: on It's beautiful. It's fast. It's ready to go straight out of the box. But there's no optical drive. No DVD no bluray, nothing. I don't know how I missed that in all the reviews I read and the comparisons I looked at. Yes, I do almost all my storage on flash drives or the internet now. That's not what I need it for. What about downloading new software? I like having the master copy if I need it. Occasionally, I like to buy cds, or I'm given tadm as gifts. I like to make or watch movies. I already own dvds- I use my computer for Netflix and Amazon, but also to watch a movie from time to time. Not on this machine. Now I can't send my parents a DVD so they can watch on their tv-they aren't fully reliant on the internet for their entertainment. I know that you can get an add on. My point is, I shouldn't have to. I would have paid for the upgrade optioN if it was part of the unit. Now I'm going to go buy another brand and have 2 boxes. Not the classy stylish look Apple was trying to sell me. I would have just liked the option, really.

Overpriced and Underdelivers Posted by: from: on After living with "Apple people" for much of my life, I decided to take the plunge and try an Apple product. I used this to work on development for an app and it worked fine for that (the reason i gave it more than 1 star). However, this product has done nothing to change prior belief true that Apple products are overpriced and lack justification of being forced to use the "Apple ecosystem". For anybody wanting a computer, one could build (or buy!) a PC for the same price with more power, more features, and learn a thing or two along the way.
