Great new retina screen but that's about it ... Posted by: from: on I had a hard time justifying the cost of this product so I ended up returning mine. PROS: - Great new retina screen - Great typing experience (for me) on the keyboard - New pressure sensitive trackpad shows promise (although today there aren't many applications that take advantage of this feature yet) - The Intel M chip certainly delivers on its promise to keep the processing running cool CONS: - VERY Pricey - Intel M chip not as powerful as Core i (that's the trade off for the cool) - VERY Pricey (yep, I said it again) - No ports whatsoever (comes only with the USB Type C port; hubs and other extension peripherals still have yet to make it to the market) To sum it up: At this price point, I'd be much better served with a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. To me, the new MacBook (2015) is simply an iPad with a keyboard minus the touchscreen and broadband access (i.e. LTE/mobile data connection). Perhaps if Apple had figured out a way to keep the touchscreen and baked a broadband card into the MacBook 2015, then maybe I could justify the cost, but with the specs as-is I think this costs WAY TOO MUCH.

Super light, surprisingly powerful, & long battery Posted by: from: Behind you on I got this laptop to replace my 15" 2010 macbook pro. This feels a little more powerful, so I'm not noticing any issues when I do stuff in photoshop. I was worried that I would miss the 15" screen, but the tiger DPI makes me love this display. Keyboard is very cool, it took me a day to get use to the short keyboard clicks. Trackpad, sound quality, and the OS make this a great laptop

Fun Machine Posted by: from: on I bought the MacBook with the intention of being able to have fun with it - mostly digital entertainment and streaming. It's battery life isn't as good as I expected, and the lack of ports makes it a connect-unfriendly and requires purchasing expensive adapters, not to mention the need to carry them around additionally. Other than that, it's a pretty solid machine to use frequently for fun.

Awesome Portable Powerhouse Posted by: from: Winston Salem, NC on Migrated from a Core i7 11" Air to this system and absolutely love it. To be honest I don't find the difference in size and weight to be very relevant. Both are featherweight, highly portable systems. The new Macbook is superior in my experience for other reasons however. Firstly the display is effectively twice the DPI of the Air, allowing for both crystal clear images and text as well as more effective screen real estate. A vast improvement over the Air. The new keyboard takes a little bit to get used to but the larger keys and more even switching have significantly deceased typing errors for me. The trackpad is also a little different, but as much a pleasure to use as the one on the Air with the surprisingly useful "force click" option. Battery life is decent (6 hours of business use in my hands) and recharge time is excellent (dead to 100% in just under 2 hours). Really cool however is the option to charge it from a cell phone battery charger, giving me effectively 20 hours of heavy use by throwing a USB battery in my bag. No more crowding around the charging table in the airport and no more battery life anxiety. And for those worried about the "underpowered" Core M processor - don't. All my business apps run great and I can even crank up a game of BioShock Infinite at very acceptable frame rates. The new Samsung storage is also wicked fast - I copied a 428 GB backup to this system in an hour and 11 minutes! The only limitation of USB C I've encountered is not being able to connect to a thunderbolt display. Otherwise a multi-adapter has proven to be a simple solution to charging, hooking up projectors and montiors, and connecting any other standard USB peripheral you might need. The internet trolls who claim this system is "overpriced garbage" as usual haven't ever actually used one. For the serious business user or road warrior, this is easily one of the best options currently on the market and well worth the price it commands.

The perfect notebook Posted by: from: on I love this MacBook. It is so light and a pleasure to use. The display is awesome. I use a particular software that is pretty demanding of resources, so I was concerned about performance. This MacBook was more than equal to the task and has exceeded my expectations. I have experience with all the MacBooks (Airs, Pros) and just migrated from a top of the line MacBook Pro 15inch Retina. This MacBook 12inch is by far my favorite. It is the ultimate portable computer.

Love the size and speed of this laptop. Posted by: from: on I have always had Windows laptops previous to this one. I really like my MacBook. The fact that it syncs with all my other IOS devices has proven to be very convenient.

Upgrade from my MacBook Air Posted by: from: on Was very difficult to choose between macbook, air, and pro. If you travel or carry laptop all the time, this is the one to choose. Screen is slightly smaller than air and keyboard takes a little getting used to but overall love it. Must buy adapters for USB. Go for 3 in 1. So you can power while using USB.

Faster than expected! Posted by: from: on Lets be honest. I had my doubts on the processor in the MacBook. I didn't think that it would be able to keep up so I played around with one for a few hours before purchasing. Got it home, loaded up my software (Logic, Office, FileMaker) and handles it all without any issues. Able to play youtube videos in full 1080p with no issues. Not disappointed at all!
