Processor Speed:
Processor Speed
The clock speed of the processor, measured in hertz (Hz), is defined as the number of operations the central processing unit (CPU) can carry out in a single second. Working in combination with system memory, the power of the processor determines the complexity of software you can run, how many programs you can have open at the same time, and how fast those programs will run.
System Memory (RAM):
System Memory (RAM)
Random-access memory, or RAM, is important because it helps your processor tackle multiple tasks at once. A minimum of 2GB is required for basic computing, but 6GB or more is recommended if you're into graphics and advanced photo or video editing.

Best Buy Customer Reviews

Impressed by Apple Posted by: from: on After owning several PCs of various brands and having them all crash beyond repair within 2 years I decided to go the Mac route since they are known for having much longer lifespans. I've owned it for 6 weeks or so now, and I can already tell a positive difference in the performance compared to the PCs. I do freelance photography and use Adobe programs to edit photos. I've never had a machine that runs these programs so seamlessly. The storage and SSD is perfect for this too. I'm also a student and have no problems running my school's programs and doing everyday tasks. I use my Macbook on average 30 hours a week for school work and an extra 30+ hours if I have a photoshoot to edit. Solid machine and no more headaches or panic attacks over slow/constant crashing computers.

Solid work of art Posted by: from: on I been mostly Windows based for many years since my career focused mainly using a windows based 3D and Animation software. Switching now to UI/UX Design, MacBook was the obvious choice and man, this piece of machinery is sweet. LIghtweight, great battery and the OSX is far more stable without the absurd privacy issues that Win10 has. Very fast and for a few bucks, I purchased QuikRes to get higher resolutions and maximize the retina display. Only downsides are the PCI-e HD is very costly to upgrade currently so be sure that it's enough (512gb is more then sufficient for my work). Also, it typically is quiet, but when I run a few CPU intense apps (large Photoshop files + video) the fans wait a while kick into overdrive and are incredibly loud when they do. And of course, there is the price tag. I waited until a competitor had a decent sale and BB matched with no issues. All and all, wonderful machine that will last a long time for graphics and development. Just have to purchase a different machine for gaming.

First Mac and I Love It!!! Posted by: from: on I received my Laptop on 5/27/2015 for college. I ordered this directly from Apple because I wanted some upgrades like the 2.8 Ghz processor. Like always Apple did not disappoint. Not only is the Laptop Slick in design it Functions even better! Everything from editing photos and videos to just surfing the web and playing games is instant! Producing movies is super fast as well! I haven't had to wait for a single thing to open it all happens in a blink of an eye! The force track pad is an awesome addition that i'm still learning more and more about but it really does help speed things up I love when you searching the web and you can preview a link before you open it. The battery is great, as it should be with a new laptop, it lasts for a good 6 hours with me running multiple programs at full screen brightness. Finally the screen is absolutely gorgeous! The detail is just simply amazing. This is my first personal Mac and I can honestly say that I am not disappointed at all rather I'm blown away because it is even better than what I thought it would be!!!

MacBook Pro: 5 Star. Geek Certified: 3 Star Posted by: from: on It's the top of the line MacBook Pro. What else can be said. It's comfortable to use. The Retina screen is ultra clear. Video projects can be worked on with little lag time. I have found LightRoom drags when you have a lot of tweaks to an image. So Apple gets 5 stars. GeekCertified. Check it first. The one I bought was an open-box item. The sales person insisted I could save some money and it's like it would be brand new because it's "Geek Certified and tested." I bought it. Saved about $200. But then I get it home and open the Geek tape. The screen has finger prints all over it. There are finger smudges on the keyboard. And screws have most definitely been removed from the bottom because three were not properly tightened nor seated correctly. This brings me some concern, because if I have to get warranty work done – what if Apple says, oh I'm sorry, this unit has been tapered with. So... GeekCertified needs to raise the bar. And yeah, I know, it's fingerprints. But you tell me it's like new...I don't expect to see fingerprints and smudge marks.

Best laptop I've owned Posted by: from: on The boot up speed is incredible. Ready to work in less than 15 seconds. I use this laptop for graphic and web design primarily as well as some other coding and intense gaming from time to time. It has the power to deliver top performance no matter what tasks are thrown at it. Impressive is the least that can be said about this machine.

So much better than our old Windows system Posted by: from: on Couldn't be happier to say goodbye to windows. Not being bugged by firewall vendors made it worth the price alone.

Elegant, portable and reliable workhorse Posted by: from: Gainesville, FL on I got the top notch 15 inch Macbook Pro with Retina Display (2.8Ghz CPU; 16GB RAM and 512GB Flash Drive) from the Apple Store, since Best Buy doesn't offer the customized CPU model. This is the first Mac computer I own. I expect this to be a workstation for both me and my girlfriend, who is pursuing a degree in Architecture. So in the future I would see quite a lot of graphics design programs and some demanding tasks run on this machine. The reason that Apple stood out among all the other choices of mobile workstations (Lenovo W541, Dell XPS 15, Dell M3800, HP Zbook, etc) is that Macbook Pro has the perfect balance in configuration and portability, and the Apple customer service and its hardware/software reliability and elegant style give it another plus. So far I am quite satisfied with the speed, the display, the experience with OS X and the appearance of this Mac. Even at 15 inch, it is so thin that I can still fit it nicely into my one-handed business bag. The retina display is amazing. It would occasionally become pretty warm and generates a moderate level of fan noise when running bigger tasks, but given that it has an i7-4980HQ processor, I have no complaints. The trackpad is definitely the best on the market. Nowhere can you find a more reliable trackpad than the Mac's. The operating system takes some time to get used to , but I am glad to learn. All in all, fantastic experience and great expectation for the years to come.

Totally worth it. Posted by: from: on I bought this laptop primarily for professional audio. It's great. High track counts, high plugin counts, no worries, the console showed up as an interface without any input from me, all I had to do was arm tracks and hit rec. I don't play many games but it does run wow at the new max video settings, so there's that.

Fast and reliable Posted by: from: on Easy to setup and configure for a new Mac user. Quickly connected to iTunes and brought over all my stuff from my iPad. A real joy to operate.

Outstanding Laptop Posted by: from: on This, top of the line, Apple Laptop is outstanding. The extra $400 over the standard 15" MacBook Pro gets one a SSD Drive that is twice as large (512 GB), a 2GB ATI Radeon R9 Graphics card in addition to the integrated IRIS Pro graphics and a processor that is over 10% faster (2.5 Ghz Quad Core i7). The performance is excellent and if one wants to play the latest games on an Apple laptop, this is the best choice. Like all Apple products it just works, all the time. It even has a battery that easily lasts 6 hours or more when doing standard computing functions and connected to wifi. Importantly, this laptop has 2 standard USB ports, 2 Thunderbolt ports, and a SD card reader. Some of these ports are likely to be dropped on the next revision of Apple's MacBook Pro. So, if one has several devices using these ports and likes to read SD cards directly, one might want to purchase one of these laptops soon.
