Should be 4-5 stars but one major flaw Posted by: from: on Just picked up a 2015 Macbook Pro 13 retina. Wonderful picture! I also love how much it has slimmed down while still having the hardware performance that exceeds the previous Macbook Pro. So what is my issue with this? The keyboard is significantly louder than the Mid 2012 Macbook pro. I looked around online for reviews and only found one other one commenting on the problem I am having. Just to be sure I went back to the BBY Eden Prairie, MN, location and talked with their Apple rep and he said thats just how they are. I use my in work and school and it bugs me that I, along with others, can here the typing. I know the keyboard was updated and requires less force, but the clicking sound is enough to make me rethink my purchase as I got this computer for note taking, school and work, and some light photo editing. Remove the keyboards loud noisy keys and it's a 5 star review.

Best Laptop Available Full Review Read on Posted by: from: Michigan on The Macbook Pro 13 (Early 2015 Model) is lightning fast. The new touchpad is extremely easy to use and has a very unique feel to it with the Taptic feedback settings. You can now push harder on the touchpad and it acts as a new click (3 finger gesture control was the same). You will get an extra 1 hour of battery life from this version and the 2014 model (I tested to confirm). The screen has the same brightness (around 300 nits). The SSD card read and write times have doubled from last year. The memory is faster at 1867 MHz and the Graphics is a new Intel Iris 6100 using 1.5MB of RAM. If you have a 2014 model this might not be the greatest update for you but if you have the 2013 or older this is a huge upgrade and easily worth the money. If you are on a budget but need a work horse and you like the Mac OS then you could also consider the 2014 model since it is now $150 cheaper. You can also do some gaming on this and if you have a Steam account you can also stream from another Mac or PC to this laptop with no problem. This will be the laptop I get my son when he leaves for college in the fall. I was going to get the Macbook Air for him but since the battery is now just as long on the Macbook Pro and the extra power, it's the right choice.

I'm new to the Mac OS. Posted by: from: on This is my first Apple computer, after using Windows machines since 1996 (have owned an iPad and several iPods over the years.) I once believed the hype that Apple computers were overpriced, but after some research I came to the conclusion that in the case of mainstream laptops, this is definitely not true. Spec for spec the Macbook Pro 13 is top notch at this price level. Startup is quickest of all the laptops I looked at and the Retina screen is beautiful. If you don't need a touch screen or a laptop/tablet hybrid, this is the laptop to get. Also the battery life is tremendous. Lasts longer than the specs say. I used it for 4 hours at least, and the battery was still above 70%. My last laptop, a $700 Toshiba I bought late last year would have been dead after 3 1/2 hours! Coming from Windows 8.1 to Mac OS X, is something of a culture shock, and I would recommend buying a manual (such as the "Switching to the Mac" from the Missing Manuals series) to anyone switching.

Great computer for photographic editing. Posted by: from: on I use the primarily for editing photos of Division I college sporting events. The retina screen is fantastic. The Iphoto editing program is nice. It's very easy to learn and does an adequate job. The speed is great. I hope to do more in the future,as I learn more about the computer and add the latest version of Lightroom.

Great features but high price to entry Posted by: from: on Apple has done a great job with the MacBook Pro line but they continue to keep the price relatively high compared to other PC vendors. This model has multiple USB 3.0 ports and Thunderbolt ports for using external medium. There is also a SD cart slot that can be used for uploading of digital photos or what not but I use it for additional storage with a flush mount SD card with 128GB of storage. This is in addition to the 128GB SSD drive already built into the machine which cannot be upgraded. As for the exterior, Apple has created a very slim profile device that feels comfortable to work with while portable or using in an office environment. The keyboard feels very nice and the new Force Touch keyboard is very easy to learn. OS X Yosemite is very functional and works great with this hardware and shows no lag. I don't do very intensive things such as video encoding so I'm not sure how well it would run in that setting.

Old MacBook ?!! Posted by: from: on I bought my MacBook a little over a month ago because of a friend recommendation. Overall it works like a Mac does, but there are some problems. 1. I feel like they just gave me a refurbished MacBook. The MacBook overheats daily which set the fans on to spin really rapidly making a lot of noise in the process. Since it overheats, the MacBooks becomes really hot which results in me having to either turn it off or put it on sleep mode to allow it to cool down. 2. The charger seems like it's been used as well. -The magnet does not stick as well as it should. (I compared it with the charger my friend has, and their one year old charger works better than my 1 month old charger) -The bottom of the charger is also chipped I brought it back to the store to get the wifi checked 2 weeks after I had it, due to disconnecting issues. The geek squad told me that there was a problem for them on running a diagnostics test, and since my warranty with bestbuy stops after 15 days of purchase, I had to either go to the Apple Store, or pay them $60 to run the test over the week.

Love it! Posted by: from: on As college student working two jobs my surface pro just wasn't cutting it anymore. Sure it came with word but that was pretty much the best thing about it. It was complicated to work and I decided it was time for a change. I looked at different laptops online and went into Best Buy looking for a good deal. This laptop is not cheap in ANY way but with a Best Buy credit card it helps build my credit and allows me to pay on it and not have to have all the money up front. The ease of this laptop is beyond what I thought it would be. It is very light weight and the screen display with the retina is amazing. With the apple version of word being pages it is easy for me to take notes or write papers they even have budget graphs to use to help me be conscience of the money I have. Not at all sad about this purchase I recommend it for anyone who is looking it is a wonderful investment.

first time mac buyer, in love with it! Posted by: from: on This is the first Mac we have bought even though we use iPhones and iPads and even iPods for the kids. We have been PC users since the beginning of time and have been reluctant to change. However, after too much pain and suffering for our last 2 PC based laptops...we finally made the plunge to the MacBook Pro and are in love with it. It works...every time! quicks start up. quick shut down. excellent connectivity to our wi-fi and did I say already...it works...every time! Not likely that we will be go back to PC based systems and after learning how to use a few things that have been different, have found great value in this laptop.

Where have you been all my life?! Posted by: from: on First time Mac/Apple user. I have been PC lifer and had always said I would NEVER jump ship to Apple. But after three weeks all I can say is WHAT AN AWESOME SYSTEM! I love how it only takes around 13 seconds from pushing power button to being able to work. PC took forever! I have always heard about how the Apple products were highly rated but was afraid of learning a new system. I already have the Office 365 for my PC so I did transfer that to my Mac as most places still use Office products. After these past few weeks I feel pretty confident about navigating through the system. There are still some areas which I am not 100% about, but I didn't learn PC overnight either. The flow of OS X is VERY SMOOTH and the magic pad has allowed me to go without a mouse which I always used. I am not sold on iCloud yet as I have 1TB of OneDrive space with Microsoft. I did download Google Chrome but have been using Safari navigator at length. I feel the change from PC to Mac has been pretty seamless. Now if I can get my wife to leave it alone! :) Might have to get her one now after she keeps taking mine! It is a little more expensive than a regular PC but compared to a Surface, they are really close in price. If you are on the fence on getting one, GET ONE! You will not be disappointed!

new believer Posted by: from: portland, OR on We switched our entire home computing system after our old pc desktop was 8+ yrs old and pc laptop was 6 yrs old. Had been fairly skepetical of the Apple fanboy nature of reviews, but were tied of our systems crashing all the time. Wife had an iPhone and iPad and we loved the simplicity of the airport extreme router we had. We thought it might be nice to have a Mac environment despite the higher cost. Bought this plus a 21.5" Mac desktop and a 2tb time capsule all at the same time and have been very pleased. This laptop is very responsive, beautiful, and easy to set up learn for a newbie. Love how fast it is too. Just took it on a trip overseas and was incredibly light with a Great battery life. Only got the 128 SSD because a have tha time capsule at home. We have only scratched the surface of this machine, but pleased. Highly recommend making the switch.
