MacBook Pro-a great machine! Posted by: from: on I've been a recording musician since age 15 and I love the MacBook Pro! Garageband is my main reason for getting this. I hadn't updated my old white MacBook for about 8 years...definitely needed an upgrade!I chose the 13 inch retina display and wow! Looks stunning! Great detail. I got the i5 processor...very speedy. Opens apps/files with ease. There's NO cd/dvd drive in this..just to let you know. You'll have to buy an external drive or transfer files and burn them elsewhere. There are 2 usb ports on this...an HDMI slot, and a large(to micro) sd card reader. Very thin overeall, not quite an Air but good enough. It boots up really fast...under 10 seconds, I would say.a noticeable improvement over my other Mac, though it was a workhorse too! Overall, I would say this Mac is faster, sleeker, and more efficient! Props to Best Buy for an extra $150.00 off this bad boy! Saved me a trip to the Pasadena Apple Store! Don't think about it...just do it! Buy it...you know you wanna!

Should be 4-5 stars but one major flaw Posted by: from: on Just picked up a 2015 Macbook Pro 13 retina. Wonderful picture! I also love how much it has slimmed down while still having the hardware performance that exceeds the previous Macbook Pro. So what is my issue with this? The keyboard is significantly louder than the Mid 2012 Macbook pro. I looked around online for reviews and only found one other one commenting on the problem I am having. Just to be sure I went back to the BBY Eden Prairie, MN, location and talked with their Apple rep and he said thats just how they are. I use my in work and school and it bugs me that I, along with others, can here the typing. I know the keyboard was updated and requires less force, but the clicking sound is enough to make me rethink my purchase as I got this computer for note taking, school and work, and some light photo editing. Remove the keyboards loud noisy keys and it's a 5 star review.

Best Laptop Available Full Review Read on Posted by: from: Michigan on The Macbook Pro 13 (Early 2015 Model) is lightning fast. The new touchpad is extremely easy to use and has a very unique feel to it with the Taptic feedback settings. You can now push harder on the touchpad and it acts as a new click (3 finger gesture control was the same). You will get an extra 1 hour of battery life from this version and the 2014 model (I tested to confirm). The screen has the same brightness (around 300 nits). The SSD card read and write times have doubled from last year. The memory is faster at 1867 MHz and the Graphics is a new Intel Iris 6100 using 1.5MB of RAM. If you have a 2014 model this might not be the greatest update for you but if you have the 2013 or older this is a huge upgrade and easily worth the money. If you are on a budget but need a work horse and you like the Mac OS then you could also consider the 2014 model since it is now $150 cheaper. You can also do some gaming on this and if you have a Steam account you can also stream from another Mac or PC to this laptop with no problem. This will be the laptop I get my son when he leaves for college in the fall. I was going to get the Macbook Air for him but since the battery is now just as long on the Macbook Pro and the extra power, it's the right choice.

I'm new to the Mac OS. Posted by: from: on This is my first Apple computer, after using Windows machines since 1996 (have owned an iPad and several iPods over the years.) I once believed the hype that Apple computers were overpriced, but after some research I came to the conclusion that in the case of mainstream laptops, this is definitely not true. Spec for spec the Macbook Pro 13 is top notch at this price level. Startup is quickest of all the laptops I looked at and the Retina screen is beautiful. If you don't need a touch screen or a laptop/tablet hybrid, this is the laptop to get. Also the battery life is tremendous. Lasts longer than the specs say. I used it for 4 hours at least, and the battery was still above 70%. My last laptop, a $700 Toshiba I bought late last year would have been dead after 3 1/2 hours! Coming from Windows 8.1 to Mac OS X, is something of a culture shock, and I would recommend buying a manual (such as the "Switching to the Mac" from the Missing Manuals series) to anyone switching.

Great laptop for the price Posted by: from: on I was looking for a laptop after the Lenovo powered by AMD and running Windows 10 slowed down considerably and also started having issues with sound card and WiFi connectivity. After exploring many laptops and reviews I zeroed in on the MacBook Pro for the durability and lightning fast boot claims and I would never regret the purchase. The laptop does boot within seconds which is unseen with Windows laptops. A steep learning curve with respect to configuring the laptop, creating shortcuts, installing software for anyone switching from Windows. After the initial few days its a breeze and with growing familiarity the ease of use and speed is very good. Recommended for anyone looking for casual use or Mac apps developer or web browser or anything else possible on a laptop.

Great computer for photographic editing. Posted by: from: on I use the primarily for editing photos of Division I college sporting events. The retina screen is fantastic. The Iphoto editing program is nice. It's very easy to learn and does an adequate job. The speed is great. I hope to do more in the future,as I learn more about the computer and add the latest version of Lightroom.

One of the best decisions I've ever made... Posted by: from: on At first I was contemplating whether I wanted an Macbook or a Windows computer, but after having two windows computers crash on me in the matter of three years, made me want to spend a little extra money and get a macbook. Ever since I bought it, my macbook has been very fast and has the amount of storage I need. 128gb is perfect for me, since I use google to back up my documents. This computer turns on fast, navigates the web fast, and does everything faster then my old windows computer did. The battery life is amazing.I got up to 14 hours on one charge. Its very portable, and the graphics are amazing. This was a great investment for me.

Great features but high price to entry Posted by: from: on Apple has done a great job with the MacBook Pro line but they continue to keep the price relatively high compared to other PC vendors. This model has multiple USB 3.0 ports and Thunderbolt ports for using external medium. There is also a SD cart slot that can be used for uploading of digital photos or what not but I use it for additional storage with a flush mount SD card with 128GB of storage. This is in addition to the 128GB SSD drive already built into the machine which cannot be upgraded. As for the exterior, Apple has created a very slim profile device that feels comfortable to work with while portable or using in an office environment. The keyboard feels very nice and the new Force Touch keyboard is very easy to learn. OS X Yosemite is very functional and works great with this hardware and shows no lag. I don't do very intensive things such as video encoding so I'm not sure how well it would run in that setting.

Absolutely wonderful computer Posted by: from: on Hi, After my Toshiba laptop screwed up beyond my repair, I bought one of these MacBooks to replace it. I am very computer savvy and actually going to college to get a bachelor's degree in web design so I am using this for more than the standard uses. I have wanted one for a very long time. Especially after collecting vintage Macs, and I have to say that this laptop is living up to my expectations. It is very fast compared to my Toshiba and even my gaming rig with web browsing. The storage is very fast. The boot time is much faster than the standard Windows laptop. It also comes with Apple's office suite of Pages and such so it will be great for college. Perhaps the only big con for me is the price. But after parting out my last laptop, I am not really having to pay a whole lot. If you are open to new operating systems, already use Mac, want to use a Mac, or anything like this then I recommend one of these MacBooks.

Better than I expected Posted by: from: on I needed a computer that I could use reliably for college, was initially going to get an Dell XPS 13. After looking at this and the Dell XPS I decided that I wanted to try something completely different then windows because I am plagued with problems whenever I get a new Windows based computer. This computer hasn't had a single hiccup since I bought it and runs very well for school. Pros: Simple, easy to set up, fast charge, long battery, small Cons: Small flash drive, not the fastest cpu (not really noticeable for everyday computing)
