Need to redesign Posted by: from: on The Apple Smart Keyboard/pad is specifically designed to work with the iPad Pro which is being pushed as a laptop replacement and competing with the Microsoft Surface. It clicks into the iPad pro connector (thus requires no charging and doesn't block the rest of the edge of the iPad Pro) and doubles as both a stand when unfolded, and as a screen protector when closed. That said it is not a great product and will probably drive pro-tablet purchasers to the Microsoft Surface. The keys are too tightly spaced, creating a difficult typing experience. The pad is not sturdy enough for use on a lap (bounces) and also the angle created in stand-mode is only good for use when tablet is at chest level [reference early editions of the MS Surface and the newly configured kickstand model]. Additionally to make the stand you have to unfold the affair and reconfigure it - which is doable, but not so great. Lastly, the keyboard/pad is not backlit...so forget about using it in low-light conditions.

Great keyboard choice for Ipad Pro Posted by: from: on At first I was skeptical, I didn't think I would need a keyboard, but it turns out this cover is pretty good. It doesn't require any special battery or charging, and it has a similar feel to the regular Apple smart cover. The main difference is there is a hump where the keyboard folds out that makes it a bit different. When opening the keyboard it has a good magnet to hold it in place. I was easily able to use this while seated or while on an airplane and it also works great just as a stand vs the regular cover - much more stability. The keyboard does add additional weight compared to the normal smart cover, but I still like it enough that I keep it on full time despite the weight difference. It's still very comfortable to use the ipad on the couch for hours with no fatigue. Another great bonus is you get some additional keys, such as the command button, tab, etc that you can use similarly in applications, just like on a mac laptop. It also has arrow keys for navigation. Another nice bonus is when you have the keyboard engaged, it will remove the soft-keyboard from the screen so you can see more of what you are working on.

Great keyboard for on the go Posted by: from: on I did not think I would like this keyboard as much, but its lightweight, has a good clickiness to it (I like loud keyboards) and I love that you do not have to worry about keeping it powered since it just draws power from the iPad itself. I do wish it were backlit, but I do like how its spill resistant if you get some water on it you can just wipe it off gently. The way you fold it is awkward, but after a little while of use you get used to it. I'm happy happy with it for bashing out emails at night at home or writing papers at a coffee shop or cafeteria. It does not have as much travel as the normal Apple keyboard or a PC keyboard so I would not write a research paper on it, but for an on-the-go keyboard that you don't want to have to mess with wireless connections, the battery running out, or having another bulky item in your bag this is great

A Great Addition to the iPad Pro 9.7inch Posted by: from: on Before I got the iPad Pro 9.7inch, I had an iPad 2, so generally I just used the on-screen keyboard when I had to. I also have a small bluetooth keyboard separate of the iPad (does not attach) that, while it worked just fine, was still limited by battery life. I haven't had a chance to try any others, but if you're wondering if this particular keyboard is worth it, I say yes. First of all, it acts both a cover (that wakes) and a stand, just like the old-style iPad covers. But on top of that, you get a nice little keyboard that requires no power and is smart enough to only activate when in the exact proper setup/position. And when I say it acts as a stand for the iPad, it can be done in both keyboard position and standalone position if you just want to watch something. As for any issues, I do feel the keys are a bit close together but not unmanageable, and it would be nice if the keyboard was backlit but then it would require power. Once you do get used to the keyboard, though, you may not even have to look at it if you're comfortable enough.

easy to review but doesn't provide much protection Posted by: from: on Works as described. Attaches easily with magnetic strip and doesn't dislodge easily. Keyboard works well, keys feel comfortable and responsive. It connects automatically and quickly when attached to the iPad. My two complaints are: 1) it doesn't provide any protection for the back of the iPad and 2) there is no place to hold the pen...the pen "tries" to hold to the magnetic strip on the keyboard, but is very easy to dislodge...I recommend the keyboard as a very functional and easy to use accessory, but would not recommend to those wanting a keyboard and protective case function....Also, it is not bluetooth, so it has to be attached to the iPad and it only works with the iPad.

Another Amazing Apple Accessory Posted by: from: on Couldn't be better! Had previously purchased a non-Apple keyboard/cover for my brand new 9.7" iPad Pro. Although good, it had batteries, used Bluetooth, and was uncomfortable when using touch features. Was very frustrating, so I exchanged it for Apple's Smart Keyboard and couldn't be happier! Apple's Smart Keyboard is more expensive but believe me, it is well worth it if you want to get the most out of your Pro. No batteries. No Bluetooth. Amazing magnetic connectors that attach keyboard to Pro perfectly and strong. Made of amazing conductor fabric so once it's attached with the magnet you're good to go! No on/off buttons. No charging. But no backlights. Beautiful suede type fabric. Gray only. Folds perfectly out of the way to use as touch iPad without having to remove. Folds perfectly to cover screen when not using, and always protects keys. Takes a bit getting used to the keyboard but it works consistently well across all keys. Even has arrow keys, control keys, and keyboard shortcuts. 9.7" keyboard is a bit cramped but the whole thing fits easily in my handbag. Absolutely amazing. Worth every penny, I don't regret the extra cost at all.

The best so far... Posted by: from: on I have owned an iPad in each version going back to the first version. Mostly I use them for reading, email and surfing the web. Not as much for gaming because I have my phone for that. However, this latest version coupled with the pencil and keyboard is the most useful so far. I keep finding uses for it that I hadn't thought about before and has become my "go to" device for my work. I still have to have a laptop because I work in technology however for managing my world I almost always use my new iPad. Best Buy was a great source, I happen to hit it right and got the iPad for $100 off and an open buy on the pencil and got it for $85. Do you absolutely need the new iPad? It depends on use of course and your adoption of web services will make it even more useful (Google Docs, Office 365 and others). If you have had an iPad before and are on the fence you will not be disappointed - this is the best one so far!

Great for small hands Posted by: from: Colorado Springs, CO on I love the concept of this keyboard. I must say that it works well, is impervious to spills, doubles as a cover for the front (I bought a separate cover for the back), and does all it's advertised to do. My only issue is that, due to the size of the 9.7" iPad Pro, the keyboard can't be as wide as a normal keyboard. This often leads to having double letters (like kl) when you wanted only one letter (the letter 'l'), as well as misses for those who do touch typing (w for e, d for s, etc.) and lots of careful editing to be sure things are correct. The Apple keyboard for the larger iPad Pro is larger, of course, and may not have this issue. This should be one consideration when you determine which size iPad Pro to purchase.

Good keyboard, but hinders iPad portability Posted by: from: New City, NY on This keyboard cover offers a pretty good typing experience. The keys give slight feedback when you push them in, and the spacing of the keys doesn't take too long to get used to. My issue with the keyboard is that it adds significant heft to the iPad Pro 9.7", which is incredibly lightweight on its own. Even adding just a smart cover doesn't do too much to its weight, but the keyboard makes it feel much more like a MacBook than an iPad. If you're ok with that, you'll probably like this keyboard cover. I personally think of my iPad as a hand-held device and didn't like the heft that the keyboard cover added. Your mileage may vary.

Great when using the Word app Posted by: from: on This is attachment makes your iPad just like a laptop. It's so convenient when you are writing emails or using Word. I hardly use my laptop now. The only downside is that the keyboard attachment makes the iPad weigh as much as the Air 2 or a little more.
