08/04/2014The main problems with this tablet are the following:
1) Difficult touch detection when using a screen protector. Very inconsistent.
2) Sound volume is ridiculously low and audio quality shoddy.
3) Slow to get going when coming back from sleep, usually due to updating synchs etc. that otherwise are instantaneous on an android phone.
4) Cannot install apps onto the memory card...Like pre-Android 4.1 update, although it is at least Android 4.1. Odd.
5) Periodically crashes, especially when using Chrome.
6) Sometimes inexplicably looses internet connection and may need to be restarted to reconnect on rare occasions.
1) HUGE screen, and light for what it is. Practically razor thin.
2) Awesome picture quality.
Originally got this for my 72-year-old mom, but it has been real difficult to teach her how to use it with the ridiculous number of hiccups we have had and lack of smooth response after coming back from sleep. Has made it practically useless since she will try clicking 4 times in different places by the time the thing responds to the first input, thus confusing her and making things a nightmare. Currently trying to not use Chrome and not to use the built-in google search function to see if that will mitigate the issue, since we have had better luck with searches not crashing that way.
Archos has zero support, by the way. Tried many times. They purposely intend not to help customers. Sell people a lemon, and run with the money, I guess...
HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED, unless you are very good tech-wise and can troubleshoot the problems yourself to get the most reliable performance possible. Not especially user-friendly. Using the Nook HD+ right now and I know, even with the smaller screen, that this would have been a much better choice for my mom, and for anybody. Around 65% cheaper, too. Since I can't return this, I am regretting not having gone with a Google or Samsung unit, or even another Nook HD+.
Best of luck to you!

03/26/2014I bought this because it was the biggest tablet on the market and cheap. I use it as a library for my sheet music. I wouldn't recommend this for someone who is looking for an inexpesnive tablet. There are better options. Freezes often, takes a long time to boot up, heavy, and apps crash often.

12/25/2013This is something I have wanted for several years now, since Toshiba released the original 10 inch tablet I have been using it extensively, and they were going to do a 13 inch model but it never made it out, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this device available. I have been enjoying it now for a little over a month and can report that it works just like you would hope it to. Huge keypad ,brilliant 16 million color screen. I have built a stand out of wood and it is now the most perfect thing for serious typing ever.I have found it ideal for watching TV episodes from Google play Store. It has a much more advanced version of the Android operating system than my Thrive, as this Jelly Bean was designed for tablet not phones, and the performance all around especially on video playback is quite noticeable. Of course it is a snap to migrate all your stuff from your Google account, simply by signing in to the device. It feels very well made, and I was not familiar with this manufacturer, they have done a quality job. This is a great way to move from a compact touch screen device to a full size touchscreen, which I have covered with a screen saver from a 10 " plus part of a universal phone saver. I will say that without a stand it will be a bit unwieldy and is a bit of a hybrid, but I really love it.The price is quite reasonable for what you are getting. I don't know how long it will last but I imagine it will be many years based on what I am seeing. There is 1gig r.a.m. and a graphic s accelerator also.I have used a lot of virtual keyboard s before but this is by far the fastest and least force required to type yet.
