Constantly disconnecting from WiFi Posted by: from: on I've had great luck with Arris modems in the past, so I thought a modem/router combo would be great. It would only be one box instead of two, and would only take up one plug. I had recently moved into a new apartment, and I used my laptop mostly in the bedroom where the router was set up. Several weeks later, I received my furniture, and found out that the network would disconnect me every 5 minutes or so when I was outside of the bedroom. By this point, it was too late to return the unit to Best Buy, and Arris wouldn't stand by their product, insisting that it must be interference. I completed their troubleshooting instructions with no success. tldr: their surfboard modems are great, but maybe think twice about getting a modem/router combo.

Great Modem Horrible Router Posted by: from: on Arris makes the best cable modems in the world. I will always continue to use them. As for their combo router modems I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I work in the IT field and I was unaware how horrible the performance of the of the WiFi was. The WiFi continually dropped I replaced the unit twice. In the end I replaced the whole system with a Arris Docsis 3.0 modem and Netgear Nighthawk R7000 and my network has never ran so fast before. Great modems just horrible combos stay away!

Buy once buy right. Posted by: from: on Save yourself the trouble of shopping/researching for a wireless router AND modem, especially since most people don't even need all that b.s.!! Just get this and be done...Just spend the extra money, sooooooo future proof. Definitley more than I need with Mediacom:...Well worth the $$$.

Great unit, fast speeds Posted by: from: on I bought this item after realizing that I had been paying to rent a modem and router from the cable company, as this moderately expensive unit would pay itself off in less than two years (and I would own it!). Based on my past experience, I had always assumed that wifi in general was a hit or miss system, as I could often not load the simplest webpages using Safari. After purchasing this unit, I'm very impressed in almost every way. The webpages now load ridiculously fast, and I've NEVER dropped my signal while using it. The only feat that I would like to see improved is the range. While the range is overall "good" (and better than any unit I've personally seen), I would like to be able to call it "great." Reading other reviews, it appears to me that the best route to go is a top-end Arris modem and the new Netgear Nighthawk; that said, that's a MUCH more expensive option than this 2-in-1 unit. Bottom line: This is an outstanding unit that I believe 99% of people would be very happy with. If you're the 1% that wants the absolute best of the best, I would suggest the combination I had mentioned above.

Amazing Modem Posted by: from: on I have TWC and the modem I was renting from them kept dropping the wifi signals on the 2.4ghz and also on the 5.0 ghz networks which also resulted in multiple modem restarts. I went ahead and made the decision to purchase the modem to test how it would function, and surprisingly I have had no issues with the modem or the TWC service. The Wifi stays connected all the time on either 2.4 or the 5.0 wifi frequencies. Def with the buy.

Do Not Purchase Posted by: from: on I've have this device for about 2 months. I had problems with the device since day one. Even talked with Arris tech support that day. After resetting the modem we were still having issue. I had Comcast out here 5 time for slow speeds. The signal test come back clean. They say it's the modem. I called tech support and they sent out a brand new replacement. Beside the device being defective the wireless signal strength is horrible. I had to purchase an access point and disable the wireless on the modem. This is a very experience modem and you should not have to do this. There is no new firmware available for this device.

Better than rental! Posted by: from: on I signed up for Comcast internet, I was disappointed when I pick up the rental modem. It looks old, outdated and clunky. I just could not believe that I will be paying $10/month for an old equipment. I decided to to stop at BestBuy to see the possible options. I zeroed in between the Xfinity Arris modem and this one. The associate informed me that this modem will perform better since it has the newer wifi technology. The set up with Comcast went without a hiccup. I encountered connectivity issues with my printer, the iMac defaulting to the 5Ghz while the printer is only 2.4Ghz capable which was nothing new to me. It was a simple fix, I turn off the 5Ghz and just settled with the 2.4Ghz. So far I have not noticed any issues with the internet speed. I hope this modem will last me long enough to pay off the monthly rental fees.

Great Product, Simple Set Up Posted by: from: on My old surfboard modem/wifi ran great for almost 6 years of 24/7 use streaming to phones, roku, xboxes, laptops/PCs, printers and scanners in our home. After conducting research on the available modem and wifi combo units currently available I chose the Arris SBG 6900-AC due to its very capable specifications & 2 year warranty. The set up was straight forward when following instructions provided, and the performance is fantastic - even when streaming movies and online gaming at the same time across multiple devices. My advice to anyone setting up a home network themselves for the first time - take a moment to learn what firewall settings you have on your connected devices and what you should select on the modem. Enabling multiple security features which may not be designed to work together WILL throttle performance to a snails pace.

Stay Away Posted by: from: on Where can one begin with such an aggravating purchase. Originally I had a separate cable modem and wireless router. Worked great for 2+ years until lightening shorted out the modem. I thought it would be great to just buy one device to do both. Packaging nicely done, but the modem is much bigger than I thought it would be. Setup was easy. You can choose a wizard mode for basic setup or choose the traditional method to configure and tweak it. It does have unique features that sounds great, but something isn't right. I have to hard restart the modem by using a paper clip in the back for 3 seconds at least twice a day. I've had TWC to reflash the firmware to their latest. I constantly loose AirPrint capability even though the laser printer shows connection. I get frequent dns errors when loading a webpage. Constantly seems to drop connections. I've poured over all kinds of forums. Either I have a defective modem or they need a newer firmware to address the stability of the device. I can't return the modem since its been after 30 days and now I am thinking of just buying another separate modem and go back to my original router. Buyer beware.

Best router modem I've ever bought Posted by: from: on I originally bought the smaller version of this and was impressed at the speed but after reading reviews online about how this modem router was even faster that went out to Best Buy and swapped it out. You can connect anything to it right away. The 5 gigahertz penetrates perfectly through walls no problem. I'm finally getting the speed that I'm paying for to Comcast.
