My 2nd laptop...1st time ASUS owner. Nice computer, sensitive keyboard, just have to get used to the touch. Very easy start up. Brand new, so at this time it is a great machine. I had the GEEK SQUAD update to Windows 10,without a hitch!!! So far, very good. Not disappointed.

I bought this for my child for college. The college "required" them to have at least an i3 processor and a DVD drive. I found that this ASUS with an AMD A10 processor that was as good or better than most i3 and i5 processor computers (according to CPUboss.com) in the same price range, which for an open box turned out to be $350+tax. Could not beat that at all. Also, with the 8G of RAM and 1T hard drive, my child can store thousands of pictures and still have lots of room to spare. Installation of software was generally quick and applications would run well. Adobe CC installation was a little slower, but that seems understandable. When I gave adobe video and photo editing programs a test run, they worked well though I didn't get to try rendering. All in all, seemed to run better than our older similar ASUS laptop with a Celeron processor, which I would have expected, but is never guaranteed. My daughter's comments (with the caveat that she is a music major and does not do any processor intensive work on her laptop): "The computer is totally fantastic! It's fast, durable, and I really like it. I usually have to upload homework online so it's nice to have a computer that is quick. As for software, I feel like everything works really well."

Honestly, its a great value for the price. Plenty of power for the price spent, but beware, you'll need to spend just a little more to get the most out of it, but you can save a little on that if your careful and tech savvy enough. It comes with 8GB of RAM, but thats in ONE stick of ram, leaving another slot free, first things first get another stick, 4 or 8 GB will be enough, either way as long as it is at least DDR3 1.6Ghz PC-128000 ram your good to go. It's a pain to install, so if your nervouse and have never worked on the insides of a laptop before, might wanna ask a techy friend for help. Because this is a chore. The 1TB HDD is great, but only 5200RPM, so can be a little slow. So out of the box, theres a little bottlenecking on the HDD and RAM, Add the ram as I advised, and Get a faster HDD in this, and it turns into a TRUE little BEAST. While intels i5s and i7s are great, the A10 APU will perform better than either when it comes to gaming on a budget. Unless the intel machines are paired with NVidia graphics chipsets they are always left with intel HD3000 to 4000 chipsets. For those machines your spending $700+ for the same gaming quality as this $400ish machine. That's Value. And she runs nice and cool.
