I was looking for a new monitor to replace my old 1080p TN monitor for a while. Did some research and wanted to get at least 1440p and IPS. Sure this one doesn't have 144Hz but the response time is more than enough for a casual gamer and I don't have to budget to get 2 GTX 980ti to run 1440p at 144Hz.
Installed it and the first thought was "Dayumm this thing is a beast!".
It has very very little light bleeding. I have to look for it to see it. (apparently it's very common with IPS displays).
No dead pixel. that one doesn't sound like a positive but if you do some reading on reviews you'll find out that happens a lot more than you think.
Anyway, if you went from hardcore gamer to casual due to feeling old, this is a great monitor.

Outstanding Quality. A Real Hidden Gem!

I've been looking for a high-performance 27" monitor that was compatible with my Mac & PC as well as my gaming consoles. This was the only monitor I could find that had 3 HDMI and 1 Display port connections. The ASUS MX27AQ is a phenominal monitor. The screen quality and overall build quality is amazing! Coming from an Apple Thunderbolt monitor, which in itself is a premium monitor, ASUS did a great job engineering this product. I really like the matte screen over the glossy screen.

Great monitor for the price

Could not find help in the computer dept. Me and my wife went to the electronics dept. and this young man, Austin P., helped us. He was a pro, and he was polite, helpful, and on top of his game. 5 stars for Austin.
The monitor is well worth the money. And I am a Graphic designer and Mac guy at that. I was not going to pay 1200+$$$ for another Apple monitor. Took a chance on the Asus. Very good. I am extremely pleased with this item and would highly recommend it for any computer. Very nice clean & crisp screen. As good as the Apple monitor I had.

Hidden gem for sure! New life to old PC

My old 2006 Samsung 226bw finally kicked the bucket and I needed a replacement that could not only match toe-to-toe with its drool-inducing imaging, but exceed it as well. After MANY days of reading, researching, and doing it all over again, I took a chance on this monitor. Like others stated, 144hz sounded in theory to be what I needed (I'm a gamer) but too many ppl having issues deterred me (plus my machine is kinda old...got to have beefy hardware for that refresh rate). What a major amazement to me when I hooked this beauty to my aging 580GTX!! I was actually able to play my games at 2560x1440 without a sweat! What! How! Amazing!! I totally thought I would have had to lower res or game settings, but this ASUS monitor took it all on! I only had to make slight adjustments to the monitor to get it to match the color saturation of my old die-hard 226bw. What is great about this screen is it really can "look" however you want....seriously! If you are a color purest/accuracy is paramount, you can do that. If you like slightly over-saturated colors (like myself), you can do that too. If you just edit and type a ton, there are great modes for that too. In conclusion, if you are looking for a new monitor or another addition, look no further than at this Asus MX27aq. You will not be dissappointed!

Very elegant form and function

My primary uses are for video editing, Photoshop, and some web design. This monitor's display quality is very easy on the eyes during extended use, which is a huge plus if you spend a lot of time staring at screens all day. The colors are vibrant and accurate (100% sRGB), require very little if any tweaking, and the combination of 2k resolution at this size is perfect. Some people complain that IPS displays like this have bad back light bleed. It's easy to think so when you first turn it on, but that can be deceiving because it's not actually outputting any colors/images at that point (not even black). Once you're actually in the OS and using the monitor for practical application (watching video, photo editing) you don't notice any light bleed. Just bold, inky colors, evenly displayed across the 27" with an extra wide viewing angle (thanks to the IPS). I do think this Asus monitor is a bit overpriced, but I paid more because I prefer the aesthetics and solid build quality over a lot of others that feel like they're going to break when you pick them up. I also have the 1080p version of the same series, also an IPS. However the colors of this unit (MX27AQ) are far better than that one (MX279H). I don't use either for the B&O sound, but wouldn't buy a monitor expecting anything from the sound quality anyway.

Good but not great

I purchased this monitor for only console gaming.
Picture quality is very nice, but I'm having trouble with the sound.
Monitor has built-in speakers , which is not so good, so for better sound I connected my Bose speaker to monitor with AUX cable, but still with volume all the way up both on speaker and monitor sound is so low.
I tried 3 different AUX cables, 2 different speakers but volume low no matter what I did.
I contacted ASUS customer service but they could not help me and put me on hold for over an hour and then just hung up on me.
At this point I dont know if the monitor is defected or quality of sound just very bad. Very unhappy about that.

Purchased this from BB after extensively reading reviews here, at competitors, and in the press. Other than some quirks in the documentation and interface guidance (which are frustrating but can be figured out) the performance is excellent all around. Lots of flexibility in configuration, very useful traffic monitoring by device. We have a large house (3000+ SF) with many barriers and the WiFi penetrates into areas for which repeaters were necessary in the past. I would strongly recommend this product - and also recommend that Asus improve its documentation.

Build quality feels amazing, which is very rare for monitors right now. Metal frame, solid metal base, no cheap plastic anywhere, screen looks fantastic, and it's easy to switch inputs on the fly. Worth every penny.
