People Are On here reviewing the product that i dont think the majority of them bought. its a great shelf, granted the assembly process can be a bit on the downside of things. seems flimsy at first but once back board is on its holds pretty firm.. ATTENTION ITS NOT DESIGNED TO BE A MIDDLE OF THE ROOM SHELF IT IS A WALL HUGGER AND HAS WALL BRACKETS FOR A REASON..
Great Durability Once Against Wall And Wall Mount Screwed In
Holds A Great Amount Of Movies.
Great Color-Blends With Anything.
The Very First Shelf Can Only Hold Cds Nothing Bigger Then A Cd Size Case
Hassle Putting Together But Once First Part Is Up Second Is The Same.
Dvds DO Stick Out A Bit. But A Movie Collector Will Know It Allows Us To Grab Them With Ease.
Other Then That This Product Is Amazing And Im In love With It.. Couldn't Find One That Held Over 600 Movies With Out Paying Crazy Prices. Target Had One For $99 And Only Held 200 Movies Blahh.. Smae Price Better Quality
GO GET ONE!

Excellent item for the price!

I was very hesitant to purchase this item after reading some of the reviews. Some people said it was too fragile, too hard to put together, instructions were hard, so on and so on. Thank god I didn't listen. The storage cabinet is fantastic. I had it built in under 45 minutes by myself. The look of the cabinet is fantastic. Compared to the prices of storage cabinets out there this is a bargain. I do aknowledge that the cabinet is not made of solid material (I am able to pick the whole thing up alone after it's put together) but that's the least of my concern. All the pieces came together great and after placing the wall mounts on the side of the cabinet, it's very sturdy. It's been 2 weeks since I set it up. I have a collection of games, tv shows and blu rays and they look great in the cabinet. The only thing to look for is that the top shelve is smaller than the others (they are all fixed shelve's and can't be adjusted). To give you an idea, I placed my Nintendo DS games on the top shelve for a perfect fit. All in all this was a great purchase and I plan on getting another one once this one fills up.

Great product with a few Flaws.

I own 2 of these storage cabinets now and im very happy with them. You have plenty of space to work with for organizing your collection and it holds everything very well. The downside to this product is the setup for it. Building this thing can be a huge pain. You are only given the exact amount of screws and other pieces to build this thing, no extras. So if you lose a small peg or screw and you dont have any extras lying in a tool box you're gonna have a bad time. Now, even with all the tools, the wood this thing is made out of is a bit flimsy so you have to be careful while building. Id recommend a 2nd person help you towards the end because you will have 2 halves of this thing, the top and the bottom and you have to attach them and lock them. You should also drill this thing into a wall, it comes with screws and other things to let you do that, because it can be very wobbly. Again, this is a great storage cabinet, i love the look and the space it gives me but i hate building it.

Easy build for novice with some common sense
Posted by: stannny from: South Florida on
53 minutes from front door to filling shelves with my DVD/Bluray collection without assistance.
TOOLS: Philips head and flat tip screwdriver, cordless power drill with magnetic philips head tip.
1. lay out and count parts
2. Do a mock-build of section #1 (completely build section #1 without screws, dowels & anchors. This will also assist you in the build of 2nd section as they are almost identical). Build section #1 with screws, dowels & anchors.
3. Build section #2
4. Attach sections #1 to #2, stand unit upright and lean front of unit towards wall as unit will fall backwards when not supported, attach back panels according to directions, anchor to wall and your done.
4. If you have more than a couple screws or a dowel left over it means you did not follow the directions and the unit will probably fall over and kill you...

Doesn't hold up to what is advertised...
Posted by: GonzaloB from: Miami, FL on
I have to preface this by saying I am hardly an opinionated shopper. If it serves its purpose, I'm generally happy. The quality of this product is so poor that I actually searched for this product online with the specific intent of writing this review, months after the initial purchase (which I will explain below).
I think where I went wrong is that I am one of the few people that actually exercises the limitations of this product. My entire DVD, CD, & video game collection fit in this piece of furniture, and with room to spare; it has an incredible amount space.
Cheap building materials & poor engineering really ruined the experience. Each cubby hole is surprisingly shallow, leaving most of the DVD case hanging out. That said the foundation of the entire piece is a large, but low quality, plank of particle board. As I said earlier I actually exercised the limits of this product, and used the top shelf to house my CD's as illustrated (300+ in my collection). The weight of the jewel cases at the very tip-top, mixed with the extremely malleable particle board, made the furniture slowly warp and lean forward. Less than 6 months after the purchase I had CD's and DVD's falling everywhere.
I did not find the construction of this product particularly difficult or confusing. This product held more than I expected, and I was pleased that I was able to organize my ENTIRE collection easily, which is important to me. If it would have worked out, the price would have been okay, but as it stands there is no longevity to justify the $99 asking price.

Regret this purchase
Posted by: MrDAmico from: on
Easily one of the worst constructed items I've ever purchase. While I was impressed with the way this tower looked when I took it out of the box and assembled each half, I was very disappointed when I attempted to secure both halves together. The support to keep this tower upright and secure is severly lacking. Within minutes of putting both halves together and securing them the tower began to sway and had an unusual forward lean. The weight of the top piece is not supported well enough when anchored to the bottom piece. I expected better quality for the money spent. Steer clear of this item OR utilize secondary materials to secure the halves together.

Good for the Money

I recently purchased two of these to hold my 1000 dvd collection. The material is not the strongest but if you take your time and be careful assembling it, everything will be fine. One thing I didn't notice about these racks before buying it was that the middle shelf is smaller than the rest so it forces you to use that shelf for cds. To me that's a waste of shelf space if you want the space for DVDs only. Other that that it looks good. I'll try to take a pic and post later.

Not A Bad Deal Or Product
Posted by: rd1971 from: The Boogie Down on
I read so many reviews on this stand and took heed to the criticism, but I actually needed that particular stand because I was hitting the 1,000 CD mark. I have two adjustable stands, but I only needed one and the other adjustable stand I used to put DVDs on. A lot of the criticism on the assembly is accurate, but you have to read the directions numerous times and double check afterward to make sure. The problem with the instructions on this product as well as others,is that it's too vague and it's a illustration -not a photograph. If it was a actual picture pointing out the steps in detail (B/W or color) assembling would had been easier. It nearly took me 5 hours to assemble it,but it's wasn't bad. The tricky part is putting the two pieces together because I had to stand it up and use the cam locks to hold it in place. If you're good at reading between the lines with instructions and have the proper tools, technique, skills and patience there shouldn't be no problem putting it together. When it comes to assembling this stand, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Great product at a great price

When you have like 300 movies, there aren't many shelving units that aren't 1) too expensive or 2) space-saving, and this worked out great! It's so narrow that it doesn't seem to take up much space at all - just hugs the wall great! And with the wall anchors, it's totally secure. It took a little time to put together and 2 people is definitely helpful to help move it around and connect everything. But we probably put it together in less than an hour. For less than $100 - it was a fantastic deal! I'm considering a second one for other things - maybe even shorter books and video games! If you don't have enough movies, it's great to hold knick-knacks and leave lots of room for expansion! :)

Not worth the time
Posted by: DirtFan from: Columbia MO on
Short version: this media center is borderline junk.
Long version: it will work as advertised, but barely. We bought it because it was the only large DVD storage we could find.
We bought this to store our DVDs, and it will do that. However, for the price, I was expecting better. The parts are very flimsy, and it took 2 people a few hours to put it together - AFTER a trip to the hardware store. Two of the cams broke as we were putting it together, and since they seemed to be a non-standard size, we couldn't find replacements. (Also, the instructions/parts list had no contact information in case of missing parts, and no spares in case of loss or breakage.) We added some metal braces at the back to replace the cams and make the unit sturdier.
Definitely plan to use the wall supports, you'll need them.
* The shelves are fixed - no adjusting them to make the best use of space for large box sets, or to fit in more CDs instead of DVDs.
* The top shelf is sized for CDs only. DVDs will fit horizontally, but that's it. Kind of annoying.
