knockout disc from a knockout Posted by: from: miami, fl on I've been a fan of Susan Tedeschi the moment I heard "It hurts so bad".Not only does she really showcase her vocal talents here, she also makes a step forward in songwriting.Very slick and tight arrangements,on each song, makes this a must listen to.Bluesy, rockin',jazzy, gospel too, a fine fine effort ,again, by an under-rated artist.I especially loved the cover of Allen Toussaint's "Theres a break in the road"and Susan on lead guitar.

Great album, good songwriting Posted by: from: Alexandria, VA on Susan Tedeschi has an incredible voice for blues, but until recently, her songwriting was lacking. Her covers were wonderful, but her self-penned tunes always seemed a bit repetitive. This album, however, demonstrates tremendous growth in her songwriting abilities, and is just an excellent album from beginning to end. That her husband, Derek Trucks, who is one of the best guitarists playing today, is featured on a number of tracks makes an excellent album even better. The impressive Doyle Bramhall II also appears on the album, adding another layer of bluesy guitar goodness.
