Closest to real life war, but fun factor is there Posted by: from: Elgin, IL on I'm very new to the Battlefield franchise and its something i had to get used to. First off im gonna say this game is a pretty realistic game. Shooting is kinda tough, not just a run n gun type of game where you get tons of kills quickly. (Halo, MW3) Campaign is pretty good, felt somewhat off though and i did run into some problems with software. Also didnt know a game could lag when not even playing online. Anyways, besides those small issues, this game has great graphics... probably the best and im a Call of duty fan. online play is kinda boring at times without buddies cause very few people have microphones, sometimes i have gone a few games with only chatting with 1 person. 90% of the maps in this game are bigger than the largest map in Call of duty, by like 3x or more... So gun fighting can be spread out too much Besides all of that, the use of tanks, choppers, buggies, and fighter Jets is something new to me. Having choppers and jets flying above you is pretty awesome, so while your sniping people on a rock, your buddy can be flying around a jet and taking out enemy air or even ground forces. Lastly this game can be a challenge to play, find myself getting way less kills than Call of duty games.

Excellent, Immersive First Person Shooter Posted by: from: Boston MA on I've played both BF3 and MW3 and while there are some game play mechanics that I miss when moving from MW3 to BF3, I find the overall experience much more enjoyable. Single player is vast and detailed, and I feel involved in a story that matters, as oppose to along for the ride in a Michael Bay film. Both of these games' main event is the multiplayer experience. Here is where the real contrasts stand out too. There is a frantic-ness to MW3 where it feels like the number one winner is the one who holds the trigger longer and gets lucky with their spawns. In BF3 the majority of the games available are tactical in nature, and the game play reflects that: don't shoot unless you have a clear shot because you'll give away position and that matter here. The addition of vehicles could've created a lopsided play, but they appear balanced -- just an additional layer to the combat. Upgrade mechanics are both challenging and rewarding. The one place I've been really disappointed in is the co-op, and its because you can't play it locally.

Best First Person Shooter Posted by: from: St. Cloud on I've been an avid COD fan for years, but their lack of innovation and "same game, new cover" approach has put me off recently. Battlefield 3 takes the fps experience to a whole new level. The graphics and animation is really what separates its self from COD. Everything from the destruction of buildings/vehicles to pulling a parachute after jumping off a cliff. There are different guns/perks for each class and it offers a style of gameplay for every player. The only problem I have with this game is the single player campaign. It feels too short and could have a better storyline. The multiplayer is why you buy this game. Best on the market. Battlefield 3 is paving the way for the future of FPS.

A great game I got on sale! Posted by: from: on I bought this game when it was on sale because I didn't want to spend a full $60 since I already had several other shooters that I play. Also I don't care for EA's online pass. They give you a code that you can use to allow an unlock so one Xbox live account can play online. You can purchase more, but I don't see why they need this other than an incentive to make people purchase a new copy. Another thing I don't care for is that EA started allowing people to rent servers. Some of these people have jacked up the score needed to win to 200% or more, so it takes a long time to finish a game. Though despite those issues, I have to say I'm glad I was able to buy this game. It's a lot of fun to play online. This is more geared towards working as a team compared to other shooters. Using a mic is best if you have one. My brother also loves playing this game. For some the single player is lacking, but I enjoy it. Battlefield 3 has been entertaining for hours, and would recommend it to anyone to buy who sees it on sale.

EFFIN AWESOME Posted by: from: on I have been playing the Battlefield and COD games since the very beginning. I honestly believe you cant compare the two. Battle field is huge maps, tons of player s and tons of vehicles!! Just awesome. COD None of the above but very awesome in an other way, if your just looking for the "Soldier" experience. Battlefield to me is by far the best if youre looking for the real all around war expericnce and realism.

Fantastic Multiplayer Posted by: from: San Antonio on Great game. Graphics are beautiful if occasionally a little buggy in places. Although the story is average at best and has a little too much back and forth to coherently follow it is still so much fun to play because there is immense realism in the landscapes and locations. Multiplayer is tremendous. Expansive maps and vehicles give it the edge over those "other" games out there. Very easy for a novice to pick up and play and not feel totally out of your depth in the first 5 minutes. TWO THUMBS UP!

Awesome Posted by: from: dallas, tx on I couldn't wait for this game to come out. I even pre-ordered it. I've always been a fan of battlefield and I've also played other shooter games such as COD and MW3. I can say that COD/MW3 and BF have similiar styles in multiplayer. Which is capture the flag and shoot em ups and each can be fun. The difference is that BF is more realistic. Meaning...If you shoot then you have to take into account gravity. If you shoot a rocket at a wall it's going to explode. There's squads such as alpha, bravo, etc. You have to work as a team to win. The only problem with that is not many people use the mics. But I normally play with family so we communicate. The only frustrating thing that drives me nuts is when there's no team work. You slowly see your entire team start to crumble and once you get pushed back to your home base you're stuck and your base gets raided. So remember teamwork and communication it's the only way to win. Goodluck. :)

Awesome game! Posted by: from: Springfield on So, it was black friday and i wanted a new game. half off on both assassin's creed and battlefield. I decided to get it. This game is awesome. I love the team work(when you have friends that play it). I love the big maps and different multiplayer games that are with it. I feel more stratigic when playing this game compared to MW3. I am not going to lie, but call of duty really stunk this year. And thank god for battlefield which saved me from the horribleness. If you like a cool story mode, but really are in it for the multiplayer, this game is for you. if you like team work and working together with your friends, this game is for you. If you like just camping with a sniper at one end of the map and shoot the enemy while hiding in a bush, this game is for you! I recommend this game! best FPS game i played so far. ALSO, when you first go onto multiplayer, you will die a lot, the same thing happened to me and all you need to do is play the game for a couple hours and get the hang of it and you will do fine. Also the team deathmatch is annoying compared to MW3.

great once you get the hang of it Posted by: from: CALI on i've been with cod since the first and after black ops i was really looking forward to MW3. Unfortunately i wasn't impressed and i actually got this game for free. One of my friends didn't like it and i didnt have to pay for the online pass :D. Anyway I completed the campaign and it was a little cliche but it was decent. I really wish the campaign would've been better because i really enjoy the CoD, Gears of War, Halo, and other shooters' stories. The multiplayer is this game's selling point and it is what i love most about this game. Along with the huge maps and epic battles, destructible environments and more, the sound design is amazing and goes well with the Frostbite 2.0 engine. I didn't completely like it when i first played it, but it is a lot of fun and takes true strategy. Once i got the hang of it i was having a blast online. I haven't had this much fun online since CoD 4. To any CoD fans give it a try, i recommend a rental first or borrowing it only because some may not be able to get used to it like a CoD game which you learn in less than a week.
