Good low priced USB DAC Posted by: from: on This is a great inexpensive USB (1.1) DAC. It uses the TI Burr Brown PCM2902E chip and supports playback 32k, 44.1k, 48k all at 16 bits. I have only used it for playback, not yet for recording (but that is also supported). It was recognized by Windows (Vista) and worked without installing any additional drivers... plug and play. A few knocks against it... The 3.5mm headphone plug is a bit loose and you can hear it when you wiggle the connector (at the plug) but if it's left alone it functions fine. The headphones play loud enough, but not really louder than the laptop's built in output (although it does sound better). The RCA output is fixed level, so it's perfect to be plugged into powered speakers that have their own volume control... However it doesn't include the RCA to female mini plug (3.5mm) adapter that you may need. From what I heard on my cheap ($60) 2.1 speakers, this is definitely an upgrade from what's in my (older) Gateway laptop. There is better bass, more detail in the music, and the background is quieter. It (to me) is easily worth the expense and I'm very happy with it.

Great to connect your CPU to a mixing board Posted by: from: Lincoln, CA on I edit audio for a living and this tool is perfect for the job. I have peers that spent hundreds on external sound cards - not me. For 30 bucks it connects my CPU to the Mixing board and loops back. I do all my mastering in the CPU, so again, I just needed something reliable for the signal flow. Perfect!

It does exactly what I bought it for Posted by: from: on I was having level problems taking the output of my mixer and feeding it into my computer. The board was always too "hot" on the m3w console's inputs for my internet radio show. Behringer's USB Interface gave me unity gain so the meters on my mixer correspond to the vU meters on the m3w. There's a headphone output which I use to feed my Sony Linear Recorder PCM-M10 for air checks, as well as a fiber optic port which can be used on the line input of a Sony Portable Minidisc Recorder MZ-B100 for nice digital recordings to listen to in the car. Instructions are simple and straightforward...everything on the Behringer is clearly labeled. Catch my broadcast Sunday's from 10:00am till Noon North American Eastern (16:00-18:00 Central European Time on www.dfm.nu and hear the results!

Incomplete product Posted by: from: Fort Worth, TX on I had great expectations with this product, having read reviews that made it sound exactly like what I needed to convert my background soundtrack cassettes to CD. After getting it home and reading the instructions, I found I needed a CD - not included - to make it all happen. There was no mention of such CD in the product description online, nor on the product packaging, rendering it totally useless. Therefore, I returned the cassette-to-CD converter in the next few days. I hope others won't be similarly disappointed by a product that doesn't meet their expectations because of incomplete information!

does just what is says Posted by: from: on i needed to add line level out to a small desktop audio setup. It was as easy as plugging in the usb cable, plugged in a set of rca cables & selecting the sound device. works great, just as it is described. i like the separate headphone volume control on the front. a lot cleaner then the headphone jack on my mac pro.

Needed inexpensive solution Posted by: from: Temecula, CA on My mom's Mac Mini headphone port stopped working. After some research and troubleshooting, nothing was working. I came across this little gem. I paid less than I would've to repair the headphone port. It's powered through the USB port so it's a single cable and the unit itself is pretty small so it hides behind the mini. I can't speak for the sound quality since her computer speakers aren't the best but it does the job I bought it for. For pro audio enthusiasts looking for an inexpensive and portable solution for a laptop, I would definitely recommend giving this a try.
