Boss VB-2, rise from your grave Posted by: from: Grand Rapids, MI on The Boss Vibrato VB-2 pedal was manufactured between 1982 and 1986. This MIJ model fetches a mint on eBay - $250+. The Behringer Ultra Vibrato sets out to emulate the VB-2. It's an accurate recreation - it even includes the 'latching' feature from the Boss unit where the effect only operates while the pedal is pressed. (This option is selectable with a switch on the pedal.) I have not done an A-B comparison with the two pedals, but the Behringer sounds just fine. It's an adjustable vibrato - you can get surfy or haunting sounds with it. What you do not get with this Boss clone is Boss durability. The chassis is plastic and everything sort of 'gives way' when you push (or stomp) it. If you primarily play at your home studio, it will suffice. On the road - you may need a backup (or some Behringer Bodyguards). Also, the power indicator LED slowly fades out when the pedal is deactivated. Weird. Maybe all Behringer pedals do this, but I found it to be in line with the build quality of the pedal.
